Viscosupplementation is a procedure where


a fluid called hyaluronate or hyaluronic acid
is injected into a joint.
Viscosupplementation injections are not
routinely recommended for treatment of
osteoarthritis due to limited benefits, risk of
side effects and high costs of the various
agents available.
