ABSTRACT
The research was conducted on May until June 2013 in KUD Kerta-Jaya, Kediri. This
research was aimed to analyze the influence of BCS in late pregnant Friesian Holstein (FH) dairy
cows toward quantity and fat level of colostrums. The method used in this research was experiment
with purposive sampling. The samples were 40 FH dairy cows and their first day colostrum. Body
Condition Score in late pregnant cows was evaluated a week before calving. First day colostrum
was collected from the first and second milking. Colostrum was analyzed with lactoscan to obtain
the level of fat colostrum. Data were analyzed with correlation and simple linier regression analysis.
The results showed that the average value of BCS in late pregnancy, colostrum production, level of
fat colostrum and quantity of fat colostrum on first day were 3.23 ± 0.62; 9.41 ± 1.39 kg; 5.01 ±
1.94% and 479.29 ± 213.32 g, respectively. Conclusion of this research were that 63.8% of first day
fat colostrum level was affected by BCS in late pregnancy and 46.3% of first day fat colostrum was
influenced as well, so that higher BCS value in late pregnancy of FH dairy cows affected the
quantity and fat level of colostrums. It was recommended to notice BCS in late pregnant FH dairy
cows on lactation period. Friesian Holstein dairy cows should has an ideal BCS value around 3.5-4.

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Mei hingga bulan Juni 2013 di KUD Kerta-Jaya, Kediri.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh dari BCS bunting tua sapi perah Friesian
Holstein (FH) terhadap jumlah dan kadar lemak kolostrum. Metode yang digunakan dalam
penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan teknik purposive sampling. Sampel penelitian adalah 40
ekor sapi perah FH dan kolostrum hari pertama. Body Condition Score bunting tua diamati satu
minggu sebelum melahirkan. Kolostrum hari pertama dikumpulkan dari pemerahan pertama dan
kedua. Kolostrum dianalisis dengan lactoscan untuk mendapatkan kadar lemak kolostrum. Data
dianalisis dengan metode korelasi dan regresi linier sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa
nilai rata-rata BCS bunting tua, produksi kolostrum, kadar lemak kolostrum dan jumlah lemak
kolostrum hari pertama adalah 3,23 ± 0,62; 9,41 ± 1,39 kg, 5,01 ± 1,94% dan 479,29 ± 213,32 g,
masing-masing. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah 63,8% dari kadar lemak kolostrum hari
pertama dan 46,3% dari jumlah lemak kolostrum hari pertama dipengaruhi oleh BCS bunting tua,
sehingga nilai BCS bunting tua yang lebih tinggi dari sapi FH mempengaruhi jumlah dan kadar
lemak kolostrum. Disarankan untuk menjaga BCS bunting tua dari sapi FH pada setiap periode
laktasi. Sapi perah FH harus memiliki nilai BCS yang ideal sekitar 3,5-4 .
