1 Log books Format

Hand written logs books are still an industry wide practice even in our technology saturated day and age. Your log book should
be with you when you do any activity related to the project. For example you spent three hours preparing a drawing for a part.
The time and a brief summary of this activity must be entered in your log. You will need this information for other activities such
as project planning, client billing and reference.

This is due to many reasons:

1) It allows you to quickly jot down ideas, contacts, telephone numbers and other data related to your project and have
them available for quick reference.
2) The log book is as a legal requirement. During your career you may be called to court for a civil or criminal activity
related to an engineering project that you worked on. Your log book becomes a legal tracking of your activities related
to the project.
3) The log book is also used for project administration work such as the billing of clients for consultation or other
activities.
4) The log book also contains the facts required for your preparation of progress and other reports associated with the
project.
5) For the CNAQ capstone course it is also an important tool for communication between advisor, supervisor and student.

During the Capstone project courses, you will be required to keep an accurate, truthful, regular log book. This is based on the
booklet given to you in class.

This is a list of information required to be in your logbook weekly:
