“Teach with a heart, for each child is unique and intelligent from the start.”
Teachers serve as both beacons of knowledge and learning process facilitators. As
future educators, we have a great responsibility to unlock the innate potential of our
students and accompany them in constructing meaning out of the knowledge they have
learned. It requires passion, creativity, and commitment to be able to meet the demands
and challenges that teachers are facing in the field of education. Our diverse learners carry
different personalities, learning lifestyles, and bits of intelligence. We can teach a specific
lesson, but they may perceive it in different ways. Their own history affects how they
struggle with life at school as well. As teachers, we don’t just pass on great truths and
knowledge; we are also building their character to face the realities inside and outside the
school. They are unique in their own ways, endowed with different talents and skills that,
most of the time, need to be nurtured and cultivated. It is a tedious task to know each of our
students and teaching experience, however, with patience and enduring perseverance, we
learn, unlearn, and relearn new ways of accompanying our students in the learning
process. The different approaches, methodologies, and strategies can be learned over time,
but a heart anchored to the essence of teaching is vital.
