SUMMARY TIME AND STRESS MANAGEMENT

Stress and time management are 2 skills that can determine your success in
college and life. Both of them help people to organize and overcome all
types of difficulties that life give us. By reading both chapters I could
understand how much stress affects the performance of people in their
life’s and its really important to dominate it to have it in your favor cause a
good stress management can help you to have a boost of dopamine to do
solve different difficult situations as well as possible. Moving to the time
management, being able to built an schedule and a routine will let you
develop many habits such as good sleep timing, improve the quality of your
diet and having a balance between working and resting. This is essential for
a student cause not having a study timing as well as eating an unhealthy
diet could derive in serious performance and medical problems.

But how students can start identifying their own time management and
stress problems? According to the chapter about stress, Holmes and Rahe
(1967) have developed what they call the social Readjustment Rating Scale.
The objective of this scale is to allow students to measure their own stress
in life. Whit this amazing tool, people in general can know what aspects of
their life are avoiding them to focus on their objectives and let us the
opportunity to search for specific solutions to each situation.

Now that we know the importance and how to identify both stress and time
management problems, it’s time to find solutions. In the case of time
management, it’s important to take sometime to organize a schedule for
the week. Knowing your “have to do”, “ought to do” and “like to do” will let
you stablish a balanced schedule that will permit you to work on your short-
and long-term objectives. Managing stress is highly linked to the time
management, by scheduling your weekend, you will avoid difficulties on
your daily life such as diet problems, exercise problems, study time
problems and many more. Also, a schedule will give you discipline to avoid
problems like procrastination. Moving to the emotional part of stress, the
human is a really sociable animal, so it’s important to always have way to
at least, comment your problems with someone of trust such as family,
friends or a specialist.

To sum up with this summary, by reading both chapters I have understood


that its really important to not treat skills as a simple course, the material
of the canvas will be a determinant factor for the success of any student
and I learned a lot and can’t wait to start using these skills for not only
studies but also for life.
