Amy sits at the edge ofthe dock finishing up a call and a cry.
jess stands a bit away-holding the two glasses ofscotch.

AMY. Uh-huh. Yeah OK. (She looks up-sees Jess -and then looks
back away.) OK. OK. (Beat.} OK. (She hangs up.) Whadya know.

JESS. Was/ that Josh.
AMY. Make a wish.
JESS. Is/ he OK?
AMY. Make a wish! (Pause.} You got one?
JESS. Yup. (They both close their eyes and wish. Eyes open. Pause.}
Was that Josh?
AMY. I thought I told you not. To follow me?
JESS. Is/ he all right?
AMY. Didn't I? Didn't I ask that?
JESS. Maybe? I uh. (Beat.} Brought you a scotch? (No response.) I
figure whether you want company or not you won't turn down a
glass of Dad's forty-year-/ old scotch.
AMY. What do you want.
JESS. Just making sure/ you're OK.
AMY. I'm OK!
JESS. Are you I sure?
AMY. Yes. (Beat.} Sorry for. Ruining your party.
JESS. You didn't ruin anything. We. (Beat.} We were all being in­
sensitive.
AMY. Oh that's OK I'm. Used to it by now. (Beat.} You can't fix
this.
JESS. I'm not trying to.
AMY. Sure you are. Ever since we were kids you. Follow. Me and
Cee around like we're your. Ducklings.

JESS. You're like her twin.
AMY. (Beat.) Yeah well. I guess that's my legacy, huh? I get to look
like my. Beautiful. Dead mom. (They dunk. They pass Jesss glass back
andforth. Silence.)
JESS. I chink I'm gonna leave the house co Cee's baby.
AMY. Do what you want./ It's your house.
JESS. I think Dad and Pop Pop would be happy/ with that.
AMY. With a baby? With leaving the house/ to a baby???
JESS. You just said you hated this house!
AMY. Doesn't mean I don't want it!
