Turing project at African Insight Academy /
Zingela Safari / River Company
the project (short term)
The project takes place mainly at
Zingela Safari and River company
and focuses on all aspects
of wildlife conservation and
sustainability.
Activities include the monitoring
of all species with local guides
Students will experience water
surveys and fish trapping, bird
ringing and fish tagging, funnel and
pitfall trapping for small mammals
accommodation and meals
Accommodation at Zingela is in
shared 2/3 people safari tents
and all meals are provided by
local chefs using fresh ingredients
grown on site.
Students will also experience
some nights of camping off site
and in accommodation in the
local community. Some nights
are spent in different locations

and reptiles, giraffe monitoring
and data recording, trekking and
kayaking and feeding of the wild
boars.
Students will also spend time in
the local community and at a local
school working with the children on
conservation and recycling topics
dependant on activities eg
in Drakensburg at an oudoor
adventure hostel with one night
being spent at Spoienkop Lodge
for the game drive. Students will
have the opportunity to cook a
local meal with support from the
local chef.
