AIR AVAILABILITY
Sabre maintains availability on most airlines for flights up to 331 days in advance. All flights are obtained
from a Host Schedules Database. Connection points are pre-built and stored in Sabre through the
INNOVATA and/or airline database.
All availability formats begin with 1 followed by the date of travel, departure city and destination city.
You may also include a separator to indicate the type of availability that you want to use including the
preferred carrier.
Availability is displayed in Sabre by using either one of the following formats:
• Direct Access Availability (¤)
• General Availability (aka City Pair Availability) (¥)
CONTINUATION ENTRIES
GENERAL AVAILABILITY
This type of availability allows you to view the available flights through INNOVATA database, a
company that maintains and markets an industry standard flight schedules database with over 900
participating airlines. Sabre fetches these essential information like which airlines operate between the
two cities, flight departure and arrival times, aircraft type and the seat availability.
• Flights are displayed up to 331 days in advance
• There is no 2-minute flight viewing limit
• Booking must be saved/ended within 30 minutes
• Preferred carrier is optional
15MAY–departure date / TUE–day of departure / MNL–origin city / Z¥8 – Zulu time zone
/ BKK–destination city / –1–time difference between departure and destination city
2 – line number (if it shows X, it means the fight is cancelled)/ PR 736–flight number /J7 C7 D7 I7 Z1–
booking code and the maximum number of seats that can be booked in Sabre (0 means fully booked)
/ MNLBKK–city pair / 1425–departure time (base on the departure city)/ 1655–arrival time (base on
the arrival city) / 321–aircraft code / H–meal type code / 0–non-stop indicator / X3–flight frequency (X
– not operational; 3 – Wed) / DCA–Level of Participation code / /E – Electronic Ticket indicator
Note:
• If you use the city code in the availability entry (e.g. MNLSEL), Sabre will respond base on the
applicable airport code (e.g. MNL–ICN)
LEVELS OF PARTICIPATION
The two or three letter code at the end of each line in the General Availability response, indicate the
level of connectivity of the airlines with Sabre. This agreement shows us how the availability of the
flights are displayed in the system and how the sold segment logic are being processed.
DCA (Direct Connect Availability) Agents can use either Direct Access or General
DC (Direct Connect Sell) availability
PNR sale tag for DCA and DC participants:
/DCXX (where XX is an airline code)
End the booking within 30 minutes
AT (Direct Access with Agents should use Direct Access only
Answerback) PNR sale tag for AT participants:
/TAXX (where XX is an airline code)
End the booking within 30 minutes
If the system response is “INVALID HOST”, shift to
General Availability
AB (Answerback) Agents can only use General availability
PNR sale tag for AB participants:
/ABXX (where XX is an airline code)
End the booking within 30 minutes
FULL AVAILABILITY (No code) Agents can only use General availability
No PNR sale tag for AB participants
Before saving the PNR, update the segment status SS
to NN by following the formula below:
<segment number>NN (e.g. .3NN where 3 is the
segment number and NN is the on request status)
A PNR is a record of client’s travel details including the agency contact information, the date and time
of reservation was made and by whom. It must contain the required information.
Once a PNR is created, the passenger information and the itinerary details can be updated. Any
changes to the PNR are automatically recorded in the PNR history.
Sabre system requires the five (5) mandatory fields (can be done in any order) to be present before it
allows you to save the booking.

ITINERARY-RELATED TERMINOLOGY
Itinerary List of flights that a passenger is scheduled to take
ARNK Arrival Not Known; used in Sabre bookings to fill in the gap
in the itinerary; there is a portion of the itinerary where a
passenger will not take any air service from one city to the
next
Married Segment Joined segments. It allows the airline to control inventory on
connecting flights being different on the origin to destination
than on the individual leg
Duplicate Segments Known as slide booking where multiple segments are
present in one PNR
Duplicate Booking Duplicate booking may be in two different forms:
Same journey is booked by the client to different agencies
Same journey is booked in one travel agency by different
consultants
TYPES OF JOURNEY
One Way (OW) Journey Trip that goes back to its origin city
Roundtrip (RT) Journey A flight that involves flying to a single destination and back to
origin city
Circle Trip (CT) Journey A trip that involves two or more than one destination
Open Jaw (OJ) Journey A trip where the next departure city is different from the
arrival city
1 – segment number / PR104 – flight number / M – booking class / 23OCT – departure date /
5 – day of the week (Friday) / MNLSFO – city pair / SS1 – booking status and number of
seat(s) booked / 2200 – ETD / 1810 – ETA / /DCPR – sales tag / /E – ET indicator
Note:
Asterisk (*) between SFOMSP and SS1 is a married segment indicator (segments 2&3)
Use *IMSL to display the number of times a flight has been cancelled and rebooked
Open-dated segment is a booking with NO actual departure date, no confirmation or specific flight
number. It only uses fictitious date to arrange the itinerary according to date of travel. It is added in the
booking to qualify for fare computation and to include the open segment in the electronic ticket of the
passenger.
The passenger will be the one to call the airline or travel agency to book the actual date
Not applicable on some fares. Check the rules of the fare or call your IATA agent if this is
possible
Must perform the availability entry before doing the entry below
Cancellation is the process of removing one or more segment(s) in the itinerary due to changes. It is
suggested to display the PNR before doing the cancellation entry to ensure proper segment
removal.
• Use X to cancel the segments in the itinerary
ARNK or Arrival Not Known is inserted in the itinerary to fill–in the gap because the traveler’s arrival
city (e.g. SFO) is different to the next segment’s departure city (e.g. LAX). The arrival to LAX is
unknown, hence the name arrival not known.
• Slash (/) in Sabre system is used to manually insert an ARNK or to rearrange the itinerary
*I«

A passenger who is from Ø2 to 11 years old base on the date of commencement of travel is considered
child (CHD) passenger and must have an individual seat reservation.
• Age is required in the reservation for the system to classify the person as child. Otherwise
it will be flagged as ADT. Do not use fictitious age.
• Title is mandatory for some airlines. Use MIST (female child) or MSTR (male child). For
SQ, use MISS (source: Raylene of SQ Reservation Office 3/27/18)
• Date of birth is required in every PNR with child passenger
Add the complete DOB in the General Facts field
Use 3 as General Facts function identifier
Display the SSR DOB information using *P3S
• Use *N to display the name field
• Use *A to display the complete PNR fields
A passenger who is from Ø1 to 23 months old base on the date of commencement of travel is
considered infant (INF) passenger and must NOT have a seat reservation.
• There should be a –I/ before the last name to be treated as INFANT WITH NO SEAT
passenger
• Age is required in the reservation for the system to classify the person as infant. Otherwise
it will be flagged as ADT. Do not use fictitious age
• Infant cannot be the first passenger in the PNR. Ranking should always be ADT/CHD/INF
• Title is mandatory for some airlines. Use MIST (female infant) or MSTR (male infant). For
SQ, use MISS (source: Raylene of SQ Reservation Office 3/27/18)
• Complete name and date of birth are required in every PNR with infant passenger
Use the General Facts field to add the name together with the DOB
Copy & paste the complete name (except the age) to ensure mirror image
information
Use 3 as General Facts function identifier
Display the SSR DOB information using *P3S
For PR only:
• Domestic bookings, email any valid government ID; for international bookings, email the
passport copy to helpdesk.tnph@sabretn.com.ph. This will be forwarded to PR Helpdesk for
approval
First name policy – un-ticketed PNR with 1 to 2 letters discrepancy (e.g. MAE to
MAY), agents may change the first name without calling Helpdesk
Changing the age of the child or infant does not require any airline authorization but agents are required
to update the 3CHLD or 3INFT information.
The ticketing field is used to store information about ticketing arrangement. It will indicate that the
passenger has a ticket or a deadline date has been established for ticketing.
• 7 is the function identifier of Ticket Option Field followed by TAW (Ticketing At Will)
• Use *T to display only the deadline information
• Sabre will place all bookings on Queue 9 based on the indicated date in the PNR. This will
give the travel agents time to review the PNR and will be reminded of the deadline
• Some airlines may consider the initial date that you assigned in the PNR. Sometimes they
will send a new ticketing deadline date through General Facts field (as SSR ADTK)
Make sure that the ticketing field is ALWAYS updated to avoid robotic flight
cancellation
Use the same entry format to update the ticketing field
Another mandatory part of the PNR is adding the agency telephone number. In this field, the first line
must show the agency phone number to ensure that you will be the contact with the airline if changes
are necessary.
• 9 is the function identifier of Phone Field
• To make it easier for the travel agents, Sabre has programmed the agency contact details in
F1 key to easily add it to the PNR. Simply press F1 and add your name. This will not just
append the telephone number of the agency but also the complete address and the remarks
field
• Use *P9 to display only the phone field
• Passenger contact numbers should be added in the General Facts field
The time underneath the Received From field is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma’s local time. To
get the equivalent time in Manila, PH time use:
SABRE RECORD
