ABSTRACT
Divorced at 16, Nadia took a job washing dishes in a Grenoble pizza parlor. Instead of getting paid after her first
week, Nadia was beaten, drugged, and forced to have sex with the customers. She had, in short, joined the
gruesome world of French Alpine prostitution. For the next six years, her pimps paid her $12 a day, tortured her
when she ran away and sometimes helped her meet a $500 daily quota by taking her to construction sites where as
many as 60 customers waited.
