I. Ask
Our team is challenged to create a three-wheeled edible vehicle within a budget
that does not exceed within the 120 pesos budget. We’ve already built and tested
prototypes using edible materials and will follow an approved design process. The final
product needs to navigate a specific course and cross a ramp in a straight direction. All
while being 100% edible, including adhesives and fasteners. After testing, we must
record a video on how the cars worked.

II. Research the Problem

In our discussion, we identified several potential problems that hindered us in creating a
proper working vehicle.
● The primary materials are edibles, which are fragile and can easily break when
cut because it is meant for human consumption.
● Ensuring that the components of the vehicle would still stay intact while it is in
motion.
● We have to find a cost effective yet strong material to build the vehicle while
sticking within the budget constraint.

III. Imagine: Develop possible solutions

Figure. Graham design
We did a brainstorming session wherein we presented each other’s ideas and talked
about which design we think will work. We concluded that we are to adapt this design which is a
culmination of all of our ideas combined together, it is composed of grahams, Dewberry and
pockey. We picked this design because we all think that it is sturdy and will be efficient in real
life.

IV. Plan
We considered the design of each member. The group agreed to use the
cupcake design for the edible race car presentation and it was the perfect prototype for
our project.
The table displays the anticipated materials and the corresponding expenses.

MATERIALS QUANTITY PRICE

Grahams (biscuit) 1 pack 39

Pocky 1 pack (10 pcs) 27

Frutos 4 pcs 5

Dew berry 2 pcs 14

Sugar 1 pack 10

Total: 95
The picture below is the finalized design of the three-wheeled car which we are to make.

V. Create

Materials:

● Graham (biscuits)
● Dewberry
● Frutos
● Pocky
● Sugar

First we heated the sugar in a stainless bowl under a candle as an adhesive to keep
everything together tightly. Four Graham crackers make up the entire frame, and one of them is
divided in half to support the front wheel. Additionally, we utilize 3 dewberry biscuits—2 for the
back and 1 for the front—as our wheel. We use the pocky stick biscuit as an additional support
for the wheels in the wheel holder so that the wheel will rotate freely. We use frutos candies and
melted sugar as the glue since it will provide the crackers a secure grip. Moreover, only edible
ingredients were used to build the entire vehicle.

VI. Test: Evaluate the Prototype

We tested the prototype on a 45 cm long, 20-degree inclined course ramp. The ramp
test will serve as a testing ground of the vehicle to evaluate its speed and durability. The vehicle
was successful when it was tested and moved far among its counterparts.

VII. Improve

For the improvement of our Prototype, since the vehicle is fine as it is we decided to just
reinforce the wheels with more frutos so it will be sturdier when it is in motion. The frutos helped
the car to be more stable and direction wise, thus making the vehicle move on its rightful course
while traveling far without the axle breaking. We also put several accents for aesthetics.
