PROMPT: Mathematics in the Modern World provided you with a glimpse into the nature of mathematics and how it is used to understand our world. After a
semester of taking this subject, how do you think your journey in exploring those facets of mathematics will help you in your future careers? Do you think that
studying Mathematics in the Modern World would prove to be useful in our everyday lives? Do you think that there is a need to study Mathematics in the
Modern World? Use our major lessons as a basis for your reasoning: Nature of Mathematics, Problem Solving and Reasoning, and Statistics.

Mathematics: the undervalued subject

As a student and aspiring medical practicioner, I often
complain why do I need to study beyond the basics of mathematics
even though my way of living and my vision of my future is not
related to the confusing subject or idea of mathematics. I am
certain that i’m not the only one who questioned the value of
mathematics and how it can help and affect one’s life. Although
sometimes math can challenge you to surpass your limits and make
your head race a little, and while certain topics of math will
not be needed in many everyday common tasks, it does not imply
that math is not downright extraordinary. But little do we know,
without math, we could not do much and it is the fundamental
language of science, engineering, and most other fields.
According to researchers, algebra and other higher math studies
results to decent careers and financial stability in the twenty-
first century. Allan Gottfried performed research that revealed
that the more math courses individuals take and excel in, the
more likely they are to get at least a bachelor's degree (Course
Hero n.d.).

As a student nurse, I have no doubt that this subject will

help me through challenges I will be facing in the near future
even though I just studied it for a short period of time.
Although some topics won’t help me at all on my journey, but I am
pretty sure that some topics can help me indirectly because
listening and paying attention to the lesson made me realize that
even the topic is complicated, when you put a enough attention to
it, for sure you will be able to understand it. And this
realization is important to me because in my future endeavor, I
will be facing much more complicated topics and I know that I
need a practice for me to be able to do it properly. We all
appreciate the fundamentals of mathematics (addition,
subtraction, division, multiplication) because we can somehow use
it in our everyday life just like computing when making
miscellaneous purchases.
We all appreciate the fundamentals of mathematics (addition,
subtraction, division, multiplication) because we can somehow use
it in our everyday life just like computing when making
miscellaneous purchases. In the sense relating the Mathematics in
Modern World the the surrounding, I can say that the unique
properties of Fibonacci it almost exists anywhere in our
surroundings such as trees, plants, animals and fruits. If you
look around you and observe closely you can see pattern in the
arrangement of leaves, branches, flowers or seeds in plants.
Their various arrangements of natural elements surprisingly
follow mathematical patterns.

How can we apply mathematical concepts to our daily lives?

Or how can we connect mathematics to diverse occupations? In
today's environment, mathematics is a necessary subject. It's a
useful tool for comprehending the world around us and gaining a
better knowledge of the significant challenges that confront us
as individuals, families, corporations, and governments. We see
and use arithmetic skills and talents every day from balancing
our checkbooks to advertising agencies to doctors from retailers
to builders, lawyers, and accountants math is all around us.
Everyone requires a basic understanding of maths. Most
occupations use math to improve their performance and advance in
the world.

Mathematics, which is yet unappreciated, is extremely

necessary for scholastic advantage, personal improvement, and
general progress in various sectors such as science, medicine,
and so on. It teaches us how to use logic and quantitative
reasoning to make better judgments. Learning to overcome
difficult problems is a skill that will serve us well throughout
our lives. A difficult statistical analysis or one of the many
challenges you confront in your life could be one of these
challenges. In conclusion, a strong mathematical foundation is
required for students pursuing any academic degree, and the same
quantitative competence is required for success in life.
