The PSECE 2019:16th Philippine Semiconductor & Electronics Convention and Exhibition is the
biggest annual industry event that is produced and organized by the leading organization of more than 200
electronic firms and supply chain companies in the Philippines which is the SEIPI or the Semiconductor and
Electronics Industries in the Philippines, Incorporated. PSECE is the Philippine electronics industry’s premier
business platform where industry leaders, top middle management, industry professionals from the
semiconductor and electronics manufacturers, and support industries convene to discuss issues, future
directions and matters of strategic importance to sustain the competitiveness of the industry.

This event’s objective in doing this is to promote the technical capabilities of semiconductor and
electronics companies in the Philippines by showcasing it to local and international audience through exhibition
and technical papers. It also intensifies the awareness on the presence and contribution of the Philippine
Electronics Industry to the economy. Another objective is to create a platform for manufacturing companies
and potential suppliers to meet and consult through business matching, exhibitor’s presentation and reverse
trade fair. Lastly is to also deepen the partnership between the government, academe, and the industry
through series of talks and updates during the plenary session.

Attending this huge kind of convention and exhibition event motivates us in terms of having a courage
on continuing our chosen course in college because PSECE’s Exhibition features a wide range of products and
services, including the semiconductor, computer related products, consumer electronics, communications and
radar, automotive electronics, solar, office equipment, telecommunications, control and instruments, medical,
industrial, and support industries such as fabrication, tooling, equipment, and many more. A lot of local,
international and multinational companies has their own booth and places inside the convention center. Each
of them introduces their newly created products and they are proudly presenting their inventions that made
their company successful for the entire years.

In this event, we encounter a lot of opportunity that is open for everyone who deserves to be part of
their company, and one of those deserving are the future engineers of the industry which is us the young
people of the communities. This is a such a meaningful event because it helps us to be more passionate on
improving and innovating of everything that has a possibility or probability of enhancement for the betterment
of its purpose, and it also made us realize that the continuous improvement of the society needs and wants are
truly a never ending case because everyone learns every day and doesn’t have a contentment of what they
want to receive. So as a conclusion for this reflection, it is better to keep on doing this event in order to make
more companies showcase their inspiring inventions and to also make more potential employees have their
own job which can contribute to the growth of the company existence.

ENIGMA: BEYOND 0’S AND 1’S

 The IEshikawa 14 (Enigma: Beyond 0’S and 1’s) that is being held at the University of the Philippines
is for all the industrial engineering students who are the future engineers of the industry. They started this
event with a workshop which enhanced the knowledge of individual in doing a task in an effective and efficient
way as from what an industrial engineer does in their works. This event composes four (4) talks which the first
(1ST) one is about the Revolutionize Logistics through Data Analytics that is done by the LF Logistics, the
second (2ND) talk is about the Business Intelligence, the third (3 RD) one is about the Innovation in Today’s
Industry 4.0 using Design Sprint by the AskLexPH, and lastly is the talk about Artificial Intelligence.

Some under the talks that we have learned is about the discussion of the brand profiling, product
feedback, in E-Commerce suite it has the following: the storefront creation and management, the marketing
and promotion, the customer service, the order management system, the fulfillment and inventory, and the
business analytics. The logistics in the supply chain contains the supplier, manufacturing, warehousing, value-
added services, marketplace and consumers. And the speed innovation digitalization is the future and ideal
way of improving the logistics, it is composed of a rotational process which includes the fleet sourcing which is
the track me express app., real time monitoring and tracking which is the field operations control center, the
POD and billing management or the TMS Dispatcher which is the one that enables the users and end users to
visually track their moving assets and deliveries, the order management or the warehouse management
system and lastly is the route and shipment planning which is the oracle transport management system is the
core platform for planning and management of in-country and across border shipments. Another is about the
design sprint, it is the google’s design thinking for innovation. It is actually composed of a five (5) phase
process namely for design sprint model is the understanding phase, sketch phase, decide phase, prototype
phase and the validate phase. It is done for answering the critical business questions through design,
prototyping and testing ideas of the actual customers.

This is an important event for every industrial engineers because it helps us to learn more about the
existing process in the industry and the improvements that we can adopt from the current analysis situations in
every kind of business industry specially at the field of logistics by providing the best services to the customers
in the most efficient way of having their specific assets and orders.

GREENIENGINEERING: RISE OF THE EARTH’S INNOVATORS

December 7, 2019 (Saturday), Adamson University, Ozanam Building - Audio Visual Room
 The GreenIEngineering : Rise of the Earth's Innovators was conducted at the adamson university, and
its goal is to exhibit the research about the thing that an engineer can do to contribute in fulfilling the needs of
the community by also being an environmental concerned citizen of the country because every invention can
help but almost all of those inventions has an environmental effect which are not considered by the innovators
or the creators.

The first (1st) speaker whos name is Engineer Lourdes P. Lasian is a chemist. She explain the
importance of water and give a way on how a human can conserve water because almost everyone doesn’t
give an importance to the water for the reason that they think it cannot be or it will never be run out of service.
That is why they have conducted a study on how a used water can be useful for the second time, and they
came up with the organic product that purifies and cleans water from the septic tank of every human’s
household.

Another speaker which discussed her topic through audio voice with power point presentation to the
audience talked about the innovation of surveillance. The next speaker is Engineer Gilbert S. Cruz, which is
the currently president of his own company Big Boss Cement Incorporated. He is also a graduate with a
degree of bachelor of science in industrial engineering. He discussed about the fourth (4th) industrial revolution
and how we should focus on it. He also shared his achievements and inspire us on how his researches helped
him to develop a new product for his company which has a half price of the existing product that they are
producing for the past years before the research has been made.

This is such a great seminar because it inspires us future engineers to have more knowledge about
doing a research and how to make effective decisions in our lives while taking our journey. It is
recommendable to be done continuously to motivate the next generation of engineers in the future.

This seminar is conducted to introduce what industrial engineering is all about and what is the purpose
of the application on TMS or Time and Motion Study in the productivity efficiency and equipment utilization. So
for the introduction, the speaker discussed that industrial engineering is the branch of engineering that involves
figuring out how to make or do things in better. It is concerned with the production costs reduction, increasing
of efficiency, improving of products and services quality, ensuring the worker’s health and safety, protecting the
environment and complying with the government regulations.

We have learned that the importance on industrial engineers in the industry is that they are the one who
helps to improve the productivity of an industry and the quality of finished products, they are the one who
ensures that the workers are using the right method to complete the job, they promote the safety, health and
the working environment of the workers that is working on the machine, they also concentrates on the
ergonomics of the worker that is working on the machine, they also ensure that the machine is in good
condition before they begin to use it, they improve the efficiency of the machines, they make sure that the
layout of the industry is designed correctly to reduce the fatigue of the workers on that place, and lastly,
industrial engineers optimizes the use of man, money, machine and materials.

Possible jobs of an industrial engineer are the following: cadet engineer, process engineer, production
head, training officer, research officer, senior account manager, instructor and consultant or Trainor. The
application sector of industrial engineers are the following: manufacturing, public service, energy, supply chain,
technical sales and marketing, marketing, management, military and homeland service, education and
research, healthcare, information technology, finance, banking and service industry.

This is such a helpful event for each of every industrial engineering student in the university because it
explains very well what this course is all about and also talks about the future works that a student like us can
enter when we successfully graduated as an industrial engineers. It also help us to figure out how important
the efficiency in the company should be performed in their daily operation because it is the great way to make
your company be on the top of the completion.

 The Ergonomics Convention 2020 : Envisioning Possibilities the topics in this event are about the
safety management, architecture and sustainable design, and lastly is the assistive technology and design.
Part of this event is the completion of creating an ergonomically designed products that can help the persons
with disabilities or the PWD’s. It is done to make us future industrial engineers realize how ergonomics can
help to every person who is in need. This is such a heartwarming event because part of it talks about how a
product can help change a person’s life who doesn’t have an ability because of their disabilities on doing the
same thing that a normal person can do because of having complete body parts since birth.

This event also shared us the architectural and sustainable designs in the community and in the
companies which are designed for persons with both normal and disabilities, which they built with also having a
consideration to the environment. All in all, this is such an inspiring event because it helps us a lot to analyze
that in every work, we should give an importance those who are a person with disabilities that they did not
expect and want to have as a human.

SHS Promotional Activity IExtreme: Think, Learn and Create in IE way

October 24, 2019 (Wednesday), Room 402 Main Building,

This event which is entitled as the SHS Promotional Activity is created to give the current batch of
senior high school students an insight on what they can pursue on the time that they graduated and take a step
on their college year/s. This event is actually created with four (4) kinds of engineering course that is available
in the university, which is the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) , Bachelor of Science in
Electronics Engineering (BSECE), Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCpE), and the Bachelor
of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE) and it is a brief seminar for every batch of senior high school
students which is done from the different venue inside the university.
 IExtreme: Think, Learn and Create in IE way is the one which focuses on giving the students in the
idea on what IE or Industrial Engineering is all about. Explaining the things that a person has which can be the
reason to take is course, specifically about what they love to do and on what they are interested to, discussing
the knowledges and related activities in this course such as assembling a product in the most possible efficient
way and time, also mentioning the different field that an industrial engineer can enter in in the industry.

This is a successful event because it helps to make the students analyze what they should take on their
college life. Because the truth is that not everyone who enters in the college knows what to take and it is very
important for them to have a background on every courses which can help them to choose by relating each of
the courses from what they are interested in, in order to make a great decision for their future. So I
recommend to continue this kind of event for the sake of the future college students in the university or better is
for the entire students of every university from different places in the country.
