Cinematography

Camera trainee- they assist camera operators on film sets or in photography


studios, they help set up equipment like cameras, lightings and frame shots in
a proper working order.
You will need to have experience or a degree in photography or film whilst
doing some work experience and keeping up with the latest camera
technology.

Second assistant camera- Their job is to loading and unloading camera film or a
memory card. They organise camera equipment, maintaining the camera focus
also making scenes with clapperboards. They support the overall process of
the production and lay out markings for actors and camera positions.

Focus puller- They help maintain the focus of a shot in progress. They work
close with the director of photography and camera operator to make sure that
the subject is in focus whilst the depth of field is properly managed. They
measure distances and adjust lenses to achieve that focus. This job is a
calculated skill.

Grip- Their jobs is to work out how they are going to move the camera. Before
they start filming, Grips have to go over the script to break it down in order to
know what equipment will be needed to support camera for every scene. They
are technicians who set up the cameras and lighting, so that the directors and
cinematographers’ vision can be a perfect shot.

Grip trainee- Is to learn the Grips equipment like their cranes, jibs and dollies.
They are there to observe and learn how the gears is used and how to operate
their equipment.

Director of photography- They are responsible for the recording of a film,


television production and music videos. They are in control of everything that
has to do with what the camera is able to capture whilst able to control the
cameras, filters and lenses being used.

Digital imaging technician’s – They help director of photography with the


digital knowhow of the camera. They help with the brightness and contrast,
they also help with the effects of under or over- exposure.
Video assistant operator- Their job Is to take images generated by the film or
digital camera then they have to display them on video monitors so the
director and the crew can see what has been shot. They set up the cameras to
record and playback tapes to see what has been shot.

Video assistant trainee- They are there to help unload the vans full of
equipment and set them up whilst laying out the cables. They also help test
the equipment and to make sure that the footage taken is backed up on a
drive.
