Kebo iwa

Kebo Iwa was a giant with a big body. He was fat and liked to eat. Day by day his body
grew bigger. He had a lot of food. He liked to help the villagers to make houses, lift big rocks,
and make wells. He didn’t ask for anything in return, it's just that the villagers have to prepare
enough food for him.
If he doesn’t eat for 2 days, he will be angry. If he is angry he will destroy anything in
front of him. He doesn’t care that it is a house or temple that he will destroy.
He eats a lot because of his big body. Kebo iwa’s portion is the same as feeding 100
people. Even Though the village people don't need his energy anymore, they have to prepare
food for kebo iwa. If kebo iwa is hungry then he will destroy anything.
Summer has arrived. The villagers’ rice barn starts to be empty. Rice and other
foodstuffs are starting to be hard to find. After a long time the rain has not come. The villagers
start to worry about Kebo Iwa's condition. Because if he is hungry he will start destroying.
<benar saja kekhawatiran penduduk>. One day, kebo iwa starts to feel hungry. But the
food isn’t ready because the villagers' supplies are over. Not for kebo iwa, for the villagers food
is also over.
Kebo Iwa is angry and starts destroying. He destroyed villagers' houses. Temples as
places to worship are also not spared from his tantrums.
The villagers escape to a neighboring village. But kebo iwa still chased them, shouting
“Where’s my food?! Or do you prefer me to destroy you!”
Kebo iwa is getting more fierce. He doesn’t only destroy buildings but he also eats the
farmers' animals. The villagers are also victims of the kebo iwa violence.
Looking at the damage caused by kebo iwa, the villagers start to feel annoyed and
angry. They make a plan to kill kebo iwa. They invited me to make peace with kebo iwa. With
every way they can collect a lot of food and then get close to kebo iwa.
At that tima kebo iwa finished eating buffalo. He is full and lay down on the grass.
“Hi kebo iwa”, the chief said.
“What? Why are you here?”, ask kebo iwa suspiciously.
“Actually we still need your help. A lot of houses and temples you destroyed. How about
you help us rebuild them. We will prepare a lot of food for you so that you are full”, said the
chief.
“Food? You guys are going to prepare yummy food for me?” Kebo Iwa's eyes widened
hearing the word food.
“I agree. I will help you. but remember there must be a lot of food!” Kebo Iwa said.
“Okay, but you have to help us make a very big well because the villagers’ water needs
are increasing.
The greedy kebo iwa is happy and doesn't suspect the slightest bit. The next day kebo
iwa starts to work. In a short time, some of the houses were completed by kebo iwa.
Meanwhile, the residents are busy collecting limestone in large quantities. kebo iwa was
confused why the villagers collected so much limestone. even though the need for limestone for
houses and temples is enough.
“Why do you guys collect so much limestone?” ask kebo iwa
“ know kebo iwa. After you finish making our house and temple, we will make a big and
very beautiful house for you.” said the chief
Kebo Iwa is very happy to hear that. In just a few days, the houses and temples
belonging to the villagers are complete. His only job is to dig a big well. This work takes a long
time and requires more effort. Kebo Iwa uses both his big and strong hands to dig deep into the
ground. day by day the hole he made was getting deeper. Kebo Iwa's body is getting lower and
lower. The pile of excavated soil at the mouth of the hole was getting bigger and bigger. Kebo
Iwa stopped to rest and eat because of exhaustion. He eats a lot. tiredness after eating makes
him sleepy. He fell asleep with a very loud snoring sound.
The sound of snoring kebo iwa was heard by the villagers who were above the well.
Finally, the villagers immediately gathered at the place of the wellbore. They saw kebo iwa was
fast asleep in it. At that time the village chief asked the villagers to throw the limestone they had
prepared in advance into the well. Kebo Iwa didn't realize he was in danger because he was
fast asleep.
when the water in the well mixed with lime had begun to overflow and plug the baby's
nose, then the giant realized. but, more and more people are throwing limestone. Kebo Iwa
couldn't do anything. Despite having a very large body and very strong strength, he was unable
to escape from the pile of lime and well water which then buried him alive. kebo iwa floundered
for a while. His movement caused a momentary quake, but then subsided and became still.
Kebo Iwa had died buried in the well he dug.
Meanwhile the well water is getting more and more overflowing. Well water flooded the
village and formed a lake. The lake is now known as Lake Batur. The pile of soil is high enough
to form a hill into a mountain and is called Mount Batur.
