MODULE 1B (2ND WEEK)

· In an exam, this conversation should last about 6-7 min.


(2 candidates) / 9-10.30 min. (3 candidates), but here you
can talk until the time of the video conference is up or your
UNIT 1B teacher tells you to stop.
EDUCATION · Avoid “yes/no” answers, react to your mates’ comments,
ask questions, listen to your partner/s and express your
TASK 1 own views to keep the conversation going.
DIALOGUE
· Make sure you use the advanced vocabulary and grammar
studied so far + expressions from pages 15 & 16.

EDUCATION
You and some fellow teachers are at a staff meeting. You are going to discuss the
beginning of the new academic year and tackle some key issues that arose last
course. Focus on:

· Homework: Yes-No / How much / Right age to start


doing it daily.
· Qualities of a good teacher and student.
· Giving feedback to students (ex 3a, p.18). Exam
results. Assessment types and tasks.
· Migrant children and problems they may face (situation
at your school).
· Online education: benefits and drawbacks (your
experience during lockdown).
· (New) learning situations and how children (and
parents) react.
· Parents’ involvement in schools and their children’s

· Music, sports, arts & crafts, drama… Are they
considered second-rate subjects? What’s the reality at
your school? Which are the benefits of studying them?

meeting. The topic of discussion now is “school subjects” and how they are
perceived by students, parents and staff.
TASK: Which school subjects get priority and more respect than others and why?
Which ones are thought to be the most difficult? Use ideas from the infographic
below to reinforce your argument.
