1. Define scientific method.

The scientific method is a technique preceded by an empirical or accessible proof which is

subject to a specific rationale. It can be used to acquire or adapt new knowledge and also to infer
existing knowledge or knowledge from what we already have.

2. What are the steps of the scientific method? Define each.

• Description of an anomaly
- Observation of a given situation or phenomenon and the collection of information on
the basis of a situation or a particular phenomenon is the initial step in the description
of an anomaly or situation.

• Hypothesis
- Hypothesis is a proposed explanation of the data or information collected in the context
of a situation observation. It is usually the assumption or prediction of a situation
based on information that can be interpreted through the collection of data.

• Inferring an anomaly-based hypothesis

- Hypotheses will be revised or interpreted, or they should be consistent with the
description given for a particular phenomenon or anomaly. If it is quantitatively
correct for the data formed, the hypothesis will be applied to the practical
environment.

• Experimentation
- Experimentation is the final step in the scientific method in which the existing
hypothesis is tested. The results obtained are consistent with the hypotheses and
observations already made for a particular situation or phenomenon. It is a sequential
order to analyze a situation or a problem through the use of scientific knowledge.

3. Give (1) a realistic example using the scientific method.

Like if I'm new to a place and I want to know the best way to get to school, the scientific
method can reveal the answer. The first step is to CONDUCT A RESEARCH on the local traffic
pattern. This will include searching for local traffic maps, searching for newspapers or searching
the internet. After all this, I'm going to decide on a route, this is going to be my HYPOTHESIS.
After that, I have to take the route and TEST it and OBSERVE the type of traffic I'm going to
encounter. Then, comes the ANALYSIS of the result and DECIDING if this was the best possible
route or I'm going to take another route. It might be appropriate to take another path to decide
whether the hypothesis is Correct or Incorrect.
