 What are magacities ?

 The term megacity was an expression created by the United Nations (UN) to refer
to any and all continuous urban areas of more than 10 million inhabitants. In many
cities and large metropolises, the population is so high that it is even higher than
that of many countries, which explains the need to use this concept.

 Why do people prefer living in large cities?


 People choose to live in large cities because there is a wide variety of services, such
as restaurants, markets and shops. Most of them usually work 24 hours. That is,
practically everything is available a few steps from your villa and at any time.

 In addition, companies usually have their own in the city center. Thus, the resident
is also close to work, and does not waste as much time nor money with the very
distant displacement.

 Social Problems.
 Social problems are those that occur in urban areas due to the disorderly growth
of cities and public maladministration,generating serious discomfort to the quality
of life in the urban environment.

 With this, urban problems are also social; unemployment; pre-concepts:


Racial, lgbtphobia, police brutality; economic inequality and environmental
problems Understanding the causes and consequences of these problems is
understanding the social theme, improving urban life and, consequently, the daily
space of cities.

 How does the increase in large cities affect the environment ?


 With the rapid space of large cities caused drastic changes in nature,
triggering various environmental problems, such as pollution, deforestation,
biodiversity reduction, climate change, waste and sewage production, among
others;

 How to: The population increase causes a higher production of garbage,


especially in the current model of production and consumption. In many
places, garbage is dumped in so-called dumps, places without structure for the
treatment of waste. consequences are: odor, disease proliferation, soil and
water table contamination by slurry, etc. The emission of gases from
automobiles and factories pollutes the atmosphere and retains heat,
intensifying the greenhouse effect. With this, several disorders are generated
to the population: respiratory diseases, acid rains, thermal inversion, heat
islands, etc.
