1 Introduction

This document Contains design calculations pertaining to Standards box culverts (normal) in road
from hubli to Hospet section of NH-63

2 Design Data and General arrangement

Configuration Box type structure

Grade of concrete M25
Grade of reinf. Steel Fe 500
Cover to reinf. designed Raft = 75 mm. Top slab and walls = 50 mm

Loading * Dead load with unit weight of concrete at 2.5 t/cum

*SIDL -1 crash barrier at 1.1 t/m each
*SIDL -2 wearing coat (300 mm PQC) at 0.75 t/sqm
*LL on c/w class 70 RW vehicle with min. Clearance from crash barrier/kerb
*Temperature + or - 35 deg.

Load combinations * AS per annexure B of IRC:6-2014 (with ammendments in oct-2014)

Analysis * Plane frame model in STAAD

* With spring supports (spring constant = SBC /allowable settlement ~
10/0.05 = 200 t/sqm)

Design * Using IRC:112-2011

Refer enclosed sheet for typical details of box culvert
