Tsunamis

Good morning, this is The Jakarta Post breaking news. It's Wednesday, October 5th Twenty-
twenty-one. I'm the news reporter Fitri Nur Halizah
At least 200 people have been confirmed dead and thousands more are injured or missing
after a tsunami hit the coast of Aceh Province. The tsunami was triggered by a powerful
earthquake that struck off the coast of Aceh. Officials are warning that the death toll could
rise as search and rescue operations continue.
The wave of destruction is said to have been caused by a combination of strong winds, high
tides and an unusually large undersea earthquake measuring 8.7 magnitude. The Indonesian
government has declared a state of emergency and is currently coordinating search and rescue
efforts. The government is also working to provide food, shelter and medical assistance to
those affected by the disaster.
The international community has also responded to the crisis in Aceh. The United Nations,
the European Union, and countries such as Australia, Japan and the United States have all
pledged financial aid and support for the victims of the tsunami
We'll be sure to keep you up to date on any new developments in this story. Thanks for
tuning in.
