Good day everyone.

I would like to congratulate all of you here today for participating this
year’s biggest and most comprehensive eyelash extension masterclass and competition. I
would also like to congratulate and thank Ms. Dmariel and Ms. Arleen for organizing this event
and for having me here today.

I would like to introduce myself. I am Carl Jay Tenajeros , a lash artist from Bohol, and at this
time I will be sharing to you my knowledge and skills about volume lash extensions. I do
understand that we lash artists are taught in different ways and use different products, but I
hope that you will still learning something from my discussion today.

Before that, I just wanna ask you. Sa dalawang lash sets, classic at volume, ano sa palagay mo
ang mas mahirap ikabit sa client?

Eyelash extensions was originally known for Classic only. I have been doing lashes for 7 years
already and in my first 2 years I was only introduced to attach 1 fake lash to 1 natural lash. And
that was my only way of putting lash extensions. Individual eyelash extensions started in Japan
and became more popular in North America around 2004.
WHAT IS VOLUME EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Then here comes Volume lash extension originally known as Russian Volume. It was called
Russian volume because it was first invented by a Russian artists Olga Debronravova and Irina
Levchuck in 2011. They manually created fans made out of 2,3,4, 5 or 6 mink lashes and
applied at the base of the natural lashes.

Volume fans are indicated with the terms 2D, 3D, 4D, 5D, and 6D. This marks the number of
lash extensions being used in a fan placed on to the real lash.

2D means 2x synthetic lashes in the fan, 3D means three lashes, 4D means four, and so on. The
more the D of your fan, the fuller your lash set will look. Anything over a 6D is classed as a
Mega Volume set.

WHAT LASH EXTENSIONS ARE TO BE USED IN VOLUME?

The actual thickness of the lash extensions themselves also dictates how many lashes can be
used in a fan or bouquet. Ang ibig sabihin nito ay nakabase sa thickness ng lash extensions kung
ilang strands ba dapat ang pwede sa isang fan. The rule of thumb is that the thinner or lighter
the lash extension is, the more can be used in a single fan.

Russian Volume lashes are made from the same synthetic fibers(PBT) Polybutylene
Terephtalate plastic fiber. But the technique requires much thinner extensions like
0.03-.0.07mm so that it is possible to apply multiple lash strands to each natural lash.
For 2D-6D Russian Volume, you need to use between a range of 0.05 and 0.10 depending on
how many lashes will be attached to the fan for the set you are making.

TWEEZERS FOR VOLUME LASH EXTENSIONS

Often volume lash extension tweezers are long and have curvature at the tip that tapers to a
point. That curvature at the tip of volume tweezers allows artists to open up a fan, pick up and
grip multiple lash extensions with ease.

I recommend using L tweezers for Russian volume technique, which taper into a 120-90 degree
angle at the tip, making it look like a letter "L." but today , we already have this more advanced
tweezer called fiber grip tweezer in which it has a hex pattern inside the tip.

EYELASH EXTENSION GLUE FOR VOLUME LASH

As you need to keep the shape of the fan, it is recommended to use a fast-drying glue OR the
one that has a bit high viscosity.

HOW TO CREATE A FAN (SHOW SAMPLE VIDEO)

LASH WRAPPING (SHOW SAMPLE VIDEO)

Step 1 – Isolate the Natural Lash

Before reaching for your fans it is important to properly isolate the natural lash first.

Step 2 – Place the Volume Lash Fan

Dip your volume lash fan into the adhesive and attach it on the isolated lash.

Step 3 – Wrap the Volume Fan Around the Natural Lash

Wrapping is achieved by gently pushing down the fan while the adhesive is still drying and
placing it about 0.05mm- 1 mm away from the eyelid. It also helps if you do this in a slight
wiggle motion.
This action causes the fan to literally hug the natural lash.
