Academic achievement

Back in grade 11 of 2022, first semester. The career adviser at the time presented me the youth
train and trades program. The school was offering the students paid education for the trades. I
wasn't too sure what I was interested in. The career advisor, and many other teachers gave me
an idea for horticulture. It involved with plants and how to maintain them. I agreed to
participate in the program, by filling out forms, and building a new resume. I had to book an
interview with Kwantlen, Polytechnic, university. I was accepted into the school for second
semester.

Achieving this accomplishment was very exciting for me. When I was younger, I never would
have thought I would be going to university, to study trades in grade 11. I always thought myself
not smart, so when I was given this opportunity, I wanted to go 100%. I wanted to prove to
myself, that I can be put under pressure, and have no help. At the end of the program when I
passed, I can look back on that and be proud of myself, that I can do the hard stuff and make it.

When I did this program, I had no help. I have been so used to having help, that when I did
struggle in university, I had to figure it out on my own. I learned how I learn, and what works
best for me. I learned that people aren't always perfect, and you're going to get what you get.
You're going to have to work with difficult people, to strive for what you truly want, and you
must prove yourself for what you want.

I am more self aware that I don't always ask for help, in the times I really need it. I'm also more
self aware that when I'm under pressure, I can cheat. I learned to remove myself when I do
notice it.

All of this can connect to my future because, I've learned good life skills on how my brain works.
Also, how to work with other people who are not willing to cooperate the way you wish. I
believe that this achievement connects to my future, when I learned how soil works, and how
plants work, along with plant health, plant identification, and many more.
