sentence): Outstanding Pumpkin Craving

What is your inquiry question that interests you for further research? It should be a question that connects with
a purpose, passion or personalized area of interest for you. This is a question that you cannot just google an
answer for. Please see examples from your Capstone booklet.
My inquiry question is:

“Are there people out in the community that want to learn how to carve their own pumpkins”?

Rationale/context: Detail your reasons for choosing this inquiry question. Explain WHY you are choosing to
investigate this topic as a major area of focus. How does this area of inquiry connect to your passion(s),
purpose? Why is it of personal interest to you?

I’ve always had a talent for craving pumpkins, and all I want is to share something I’m good at, and that I
love doing with the community and the world.

Background: What background knowledge/connections/prior learning do you have in this area of inquiry?

My dad is good at pumpkin carving, and I learned from him when I was young. It took me many years to
learn to make a 3D face on a pumpkin. I remember using clay to practice using carving tools during the end
of summer so I could have the perfect Jacko-lantern.

Career connections: What is your intended career area at this point in time? What connections does this
inquiry question have to your life, academic and/ or career goals?

I want to have a pumpkin farm when I’m older. And I also want to display my art with pumpkins around my
farm for people to come out and view my talent, in the place I love doing it, (Farm).

Communication: will be used when I make my website, and my exit interview. I could also be using it to
communicate with my mentors and other people for questions or advice for my capstone.
Creative thinking: I will have to be creative when I’m thinking about my craving ideas for my pumpkins,
and how I want the channel and videos to look towards the viewers.
Critical thinking: could be used when I’m working on videos and looking over it carefully and fixing any
issues or things, I know I could do better on before posting it out to the community.

I plan to show my project using a YouTube channel giving demos of me craving and explaining a step-by-
step process on pumpkin carving. As well as exploring new techniques to make the illusion of really human
fetchers.

Resources/ Technology/Skills: Make an assessment of the resources, technology and skills you will
need to be able to complete this project. What is your plan to be able to access/learn all of the resources
necessary to achieve completion of this project? Detail your plans.

 To make this project successful I will need a camera for filming my videos. I will also need lights to see
the product clearly for the viewers. Space is important with a black curtain to cover unnecessary light, and
distractions.

Mentors/Community Connections: What types of mentor(s)/community connections will you need to

help you complete your capstone project? How will your mentor(s) help you? What is your plan to access
the mentorship/community connections necessary for this project?

I work at a pumpkin farm, “Rondriso farms”. The owner has been a pumpkin farmer for over 10 years.
He has been teaching me to identify different types of pumpkins that he grows on his farm. Example, the
pumpkins that are best for craving, which one has the deepest skin, and what doesn’t.

Project limitations: What are some project limitations and potential obstacles that you foresee that might
affect progress with your Capstone Project?

Pumpkins are only in season for the month of October. Which means I have only a small window to film
all the cravings I need within 20 days.

Other considerations: List and detail any other related information/ considerations about your project
that you feel should be included in your project proposal.

My stepfather has filming equipment that I'm allowed to borrow. I must consider that it isn't mine and I
have to make sure it's treated with the most respect and it's put back where it came from.
