About Business Management


The Business Management function is broad ranging and involves responsibility for the strategy, the infrastructure and
administration of the business. There is particular emphasis on strategy, execution of initiatives/projects, budgeting, risk
control agenda, and cost control.

Overall purpose of role


The candidate is expected to work in a high intensity, result oriented team environment as part of the Markets Business
Management Team in Mumbai, which is a virtual extension of Global Business Management Team. The Business
Management function is broad ranging and involves a rich set of responsibilities such as streamlining business processes
and managing costs or supporting the delivery of technology with agility to support all investment strategies. The role has
particular emphasis on strategy, budgeting, cost control, and risk and controls. It involves constant liaison with, and often
provides the link between, trading and IT, Product Control, Risk Control, Operations, Legal and Compliance, as well as
working closely with Sales & Trading. As such, it is key to the smooth and efficient running of the business and touches
the firm in most areas and at all levels.

o Business planning and monitoring support e.g. Business MI and Strategy Presentations, key Performance
Indicators (KPI) and trend analysis, etc.
o Production management reports on P&L, Client Revenue, Trading revenues, volumes, margins, market
share, Expenses / Profitability, Capital – RWA and Balance Sheet etc.
o Coordinate/Collate materials for business updates & governance forums including Exco meetings.
o Proactively own management of business commentaries and client highlights for the client strategy team,
use it in weekly, monthly management meeting packs.
o Conduct deep dive performance analysis proactively and propose strategic actionable insights for the
head of business
o Be able to collaborate seamlessly with functional business partners in Markets Risk and Control, Legal,
Risk, HR, PCG, Audit, Compliance, BCM, and ORM teams
o Conduct deep dive on Industry benchmarking and competitor analysis (e.g. Coalition, McLagan)
o Co-ordination of firm-wide strategic initiatives / project management
o Be a leading participant on the management business review analysis
o Have an oversight of strategic business initiatives, including evaluation of new and existing investments
o Communication and articulation of business strategy for Senior Management especially for Town Halls,
results reporting and communication, industry roundtables, etc.
o Work with support functions to identify opportunities to reduce consumed costs
o Deliver Planning and Stress Testing by providing inputs to annual budgeting process -revenue, client
revenue, FO costs, RWA/LBS, and technology deliverables
o Periodic evaluation of business leadership construct, reorganizations, headcount shape and ongoing
human capital requirements
o Ad-hoc customized analysis as required by the business managers to analyse the business performance or
lead/lag indicators.
o Work with product teams and the broader BM team on business development initiatives including New
Product approvals (NAPA)

Stakeholder Management and Leadership


o The role involves constant liaison with, and provides the link between the FO Business and infrastructure partners
including IT, Product Control, MRC, CCO, Risk, Operations, Legal and Compliance, as well as working closely
with Equities business functions including Sales, Trading and Research. As such, it is key to the smooth and
efficient running of the business and touches the firm in most areas and at all levels.

Decision-making and Problem Solving


o The role involves working with the business and functions in identifying optimal solutions supporting
decision-making on both day-to-day items as well as driving strategic initiatives.
o The candidate needs to work on several time sensitive activities and hence is required to be meticulous and
efficient

Risk and Control Objective


Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk
Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:


o Good understanding of Markets business with specific focus on Equities, Fixed Income, Macro (Rates and FX)
and Securitized Products
o Experience of creating, enhancing and producing Business MI
o Good PowerPoint and excel knowledge

o Excellent communication skills (oral/written) as the candidate would have to work closely with the on shore teams
globally.
o Aptitude for self-learning – Should be able to demonstrate a self-learning attitude
o Proactive in nature. Should be able to take decisions and support those.
o Strong automation skills with hands on expertise on VBA, Python, dashboarding in Qlikview and Tableau
