SURPASS hiT 70 series - standard training for service (hiT 70 ser)

Lernziele / Aims
The main objective of this course sequence is to enable you to perform all OAM
tasks. All topics are clearly outlined in the individual course contents. TR3271 covers
general topics that allow you to perform all daily routine tasks as advised. To get a
deeper understanding and background about these and further tasks the Advanced
Topics courses TR3272, TR3273, TR3274, TR3275, TR3276 are designed. Those
cover OAM tasks in various fields like SDH, Data Networking, Synchronization and
Commissioning.
For all product courses training equipment is prepared to simulate field conditions
and is used to perform a variety of Hands-On exercises.
You will be able to perform all daily routine and a great many advanced tasks on your
network elements.
Further on a variety of Technology courses will give you a comprehensive
understanding and solid background to carry out your daily work even more
efficiently.

TR3991, TNMS Operation & Administration; General Topics
· This course has been developed for people who are already managing
Network Elements and are required to manage a TMN which is monitoring the
Network Elements. All aspects of managing the SDH Network Elements (from a TMN
perspective) will be covered, including Fault Management, Configuration
Management, Administration and Hardware Management. The participants may
manage a specific SDH Network Element type or a range of SDH Network Elements.
The participants will use the latest TMN software, where possible, and training
Network Elements.

Advanced Training
TR3961, TNMS Installation & Commissioning
· The topics in this course have been developed to provide detailed training on
how to install and commission a TMN system. This ranges from installation of the
TMN system to fault clearance tasks during the commissioning phase on the TMN
system. The participants will use the latest TMN software, wherever possible, and

TR3550, SURPASS hiT 7540 OAM and Commissioning


· This course is designed to give one training on various aspects of the
operation and maintenance of the OCU equipment including the OCR10 R2 and the
TEX. The family is introduced including the application, the structure of the network,
hardware design and a software functions overview. You will learn how to operate the
equipment; how to make changes to the configurable data and how to keep the
equipment maintained. This is achieved through training based on theoretical and
practical sessions, using training equipment with the latest software, wherever
possible. The training is designed to give a thorough, but overall learning experience
on the OCU.

TR3559, SURPASS hiT 7540 c OAM and Commissioning


· This course is designed to give one training on various aspects of the
operation and maintenance of the OCU equipment including the OCR2G5T. The
family is introduced including the application, the structure of the network, hardware
design and a software functions overview. You will learn how to operate the
equipment; how to make changes to the configurable data and how to keep the
equipment maintained. This is achieved through training based on theoretical and
practical sessions, using training equipment with the latest software, wherever
possible. The training is designed to give a thorough, but overall learning experience
on the OCU.

TR3543, SURPASS hiT 7550 2.x Operation, Administration and Maintenance


· This course is designed to give one training on various aspects of the
operation and maintenance of the MTS equipment. The family is introduced including
the application, the structure of the network, hardware design and a software
functions overview. You will learn how to operate the equipment; how to make
changes to the configurable data and how to keep the equipment maintained. This is
achieved through training based on theoretical and practical sessions, using training
equipment with the latest software, wherever possible. The training is designed to

The main objective of this course sequence is to enable you to perform all OAM
tasks. All topics are clearly outlined in the individual course contents. Individual

· This course is designed to give one training on various aspects of the
installation, operation and maintenance of the FSP 500 equipment. The family is
introduced including the application, the structure of the network, hardware design
and a software functions overview. You will learn how to operate the equipment; how
to make changes to the configurable data and how to keep the equipment
maintained. This is achieved through training based on theoretical and practical
sessions, using training equipment with the latest software, wherever possible. The

TI2321, Modern Layer 2 LAN Concepts


· In this course, you will acquire detailed knowledge about modern LAN
concepts. You will learn about the state of the art Ethernet technology and the
existing possibilities to interconnect LAN segments. Bridging and Layer 2 Switching
will be discussed in the course. Ethernet design rules and structured cabling will be
introduced as well. You will learn about the concepts of Virtual LANs (VLANs) and

· In this course, you'll gain a thorough understanding of the PCM technology.
You will learn about 2 Mbit/sec frames, the signaling pulse frame including the base-
band transmission of the digital signals. A block diagram of a primary Multiplexer is
provided for discussion and the major functions including synchronization are also
discussed. An overview of the different levels of the transmission hierarchy
completes the information in this course.

TT2510, PDH Basics


· In this course, you acquire basic knowledge of PDH technology. You will learn
about the main methods of multiplexing as well as the digital signal hierarchy.
Synchronization, clock adaptation, frame structure and justification which are all
discussed in detail. The main structure of multiplexing, in addition to the basic
methods of measurement technology are outlined. Discussions about base-band

TT2500, SDH Basics


· In this course, you'll acquire an overview of the principal multiplexing methods
of PDH and SDH including the appropriate bit rates. Participants will learn the
advantages of SDH over PDH, which includes the main characteristics of SDH. The
basic elements of the STM-1 signal, such as containers, virtual containers, tributary
units, etc, are discussed. The mapping of PDH signals and ATM cells also form part
of the course information, as does pointer technology. The structure of the overhead
bytes, along with their functions, their uses in monitoring, fault detection and
management are also outlined.
TT2560, DWDM Basics
· In this course, you will acquire an overview of the technology used in Dense
Wavelength Division Multiplexing including Optical Cross-Connect Technology
principles. Participants will learn the advantages of DWDM over traditional optical
transport technologies such as SDH. An overview of the building blocks used in a
DWDM network followed of the basic functions performed by the various building
blocks . For a clearer understanding of the technology a session on Optical Basics
has also been included.

TT2561, OTH Basics


· In this course you will be given an overview of the structure of a modern
optical network. The new transmission standard Optical Transmission Hierarchy OTH
(G.709) will be introduced. Participants will learn the different analog and digital
elements of this standard. The additional functions of the OTH overheads are
introduced along with some advice on the handling of alarms in the OTH.

d-lab

What is d-lab?

Distant lab or d-lab® is a distant electronic laboratory (set of electronic equipment) which can be
accessed remotely
- via Internet or
- via ISDN dial-up connection
- independently from the location of the equipment
- available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
- worldwide access possible

For the user d-lab offers the same functionality as a lab next door if the functions of the equipment can
be handled via PC controlled interfaces.

Only real hands-on activities like "insert/change modules" are not possible via remote access.

- i386 compatible workstation PC, Standard PC
- Access to the Internet
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher
- Java enabled
- Cookies enabled
- Java runtime environment, at least Version 1.3.1
- Port 443 must be allowed on Corporate Firewall

2.7.1 Synchronous Virtual University


What is SVU?

The Synchronous Virtual University SVU is web-based learning method.


Moderator(s)/Trainer(s) communicate with the participants via the Internet.
SVU allows theoretical presentation and practical presentation with d-lab (see above) as well. It is
specially aimed for realizing short trainings. Those can be a short info about new products and or
features, product training for minor upgrades, technology etc..

- Sound card

- We recommend 128 kbit/s for your internet access (a lower bandwidth might result in a poor quality).
- Set the screen resolution to 1024 x 768 pixels and 256 colors.
- Java needs to be activated in your browser.
- By using a PC optiClient, the application needs to be closed. If it is possible, please activate call
forwarding to the voice box during the session.
