Technical white paper

The aim of Installing the AMR Printer Monitoring Software Agent is to collect data from
networked printers for billing and maintenance purposes.

How it works

• Operation: The AMR Driver (Agent) is installed on the client's local network.
• The AMR Driver (Agent) identifies networked printers, copiers and MFP's using the Simple
Network Management Protocol (SNMP).

• Once identified, information is gathered using SNMP or HTTP protocols.

• Data is transferred periodically through a communication server directly
database.
to the dealer

• Only the following data is collected and sent over: Meter readings, consumable levels, printer
error messages, printer ID (Serial, IP, MAC) and client code.

• Data is transferred trough HTTP / HTTPS port 80 / 443 and in case of emergency UDP. AMR
client software has a monitor screen where internal communications can be watched. (Client
can monitor and control what’s been collected and transferred)

• AMR software is manufacturer neutral and works with the vast majority of printers and
photocopiers connected to the network. AMR supports all of the major printer manufacturers.

Minimum requirements:

• Printer: The monitored printer must be turned on and connected to the local network. It must
have the SNMP protocol enabled for discovery and data collection.

• Computer: The computer where the AMR driver is installed must be turned on, with Internet
access and connected to the same network of the monitored printers. The operating system
must be Microsoft Windows with Framework .NET 4.52 or higher. Normally Windows 10. A
previous version compatible with Microsoft Windows with Framework .NET 2.0 - 3.5 or higher
is also available. It can also be a virtual machine.

Connectivity:

• Domain and sub domains: enviacontador.com

• Main channel: enviacontador.com, s1.enviacontador.com, s2.enviacontador.com
s3.enviacontador.com through ports TCP 80 y HTTPS 443.

• Aux. channel: s4.enviacontador.com, 46.183.117.169 through ports UDP 1010, 1202

and TCP 5010

• Antivirus: Antivirus, Firewall and other security systems should be set to allow AMR
software to run freely. Exceptions must be set to avoid AMR driver to stop reporting. Software
files are placed in folder : C:/DriverPrinter/

• Proxy: User and password to allow connectivity to external server must be given upon
installation.

Security / Privacy

• AMR Driver only reads data from networked devices and do not write nor modify any device
settings.

• Bandwidth: The installation and implementation of AMR software does not affect in any
significant way to the data flow and performance of the local network. Each monitored printer
can send and average of 3 to 10 messages a day of 2 kb each. As example: After 1 year the
total amount of traffic per printer will be around 2MB all together. Running the AMR software
does not affect in any significant way the data flow and performance of the client’s network.

• Virus: AMR ensures that the AMR reading driver is free from viruses or malware that
could affect the information systems on the local network.

• Privacy: AMR certifies that the data collected from printers is strictly for the purpose
of billing management and maintenance.
• Confidentiality: AMR undertakes that the information extracted from these printers is
strictly confidential and applied solely for the purposes of maintenance, billing or
customer related statistics and cannot be published in any form or by any means
without the explicit consent of the customer.
