IV. PROCEDURES

A. Introduction Different notes and rests can create beautiful composition if they are
organized in the correct beat and timing.

Imagine a beautiful composition that is not played in the proper

rhythm or beat. This can be prevented if a person has an adequate
knowledge on the correct beat and timing.

In this lesson, you will learn how to group different notes and rests in
a pattern. You will be able to create and perform different rhythmic
patterns in correct timing.

Create rhythmic patterns using notes and rests based on the given time
signature. Illustrate your answers in your MAPEH notebook.

B. Development Rhythmic pattern is the combination of notes and rests in a given
meter. It is a combination of a long and short duration of sounds and
silences or with different time values. Rhythmic patterns form measures.
These measures are divided by bar lines according to the meter of 2s, 3s
and 4s. Bar lines are vertical lines that divide group of notes and rests
into measures. Double bar lines are two bar lines to indicate the end of
the music.
Clap the rhythmic patterns below by chanting the rhythmic syllables.
Complete the following measures by illustrating the appropriate notes or
rests. Use the time signature as your guide.
C. Engagement Create your own rhythmic patterns using the different kinds of notes and
rests based on the given time signature. Illustrate your answers in your
MAPEH notebook.

Write the correct time signature of the following rhythmic patterns. Do

this in your music notebook.
Study the song “Atin Cu Pung Singsing” and clap the rhythmic pattern
while reciting the rhythmic syllables.
D. Assimilation Keep in Mind:

● Rhythmic pattern is the combination of long and short sounds

grouped together in a given meter
● Beat is the regular pulse heard or felt in a musical composition

● Rhythmic patterns are placed inside a measure divided by bar

lines
● Rhythmic syllables help you read the notes and rests correctly.
They help you determine how long or short the duration of
sound should be.
