Class / Section: Nursery: _________ Subject: Mathematics


Topic/s: Reinforcement of addition No. of Periods: 2
Objectives: By the end of the lesson students will be able to:
1. Identify and recognize signs of ‘+’ and ‘=’.
2. Count objects altogether.
3. Add two single-digit numbers on their fingers.
Resources: White board, flash cards, real objects, number cards, penguin boards,
pegs, baskets.
Teaching Strategies: Activity based learning, demonstrative learning, Cooperative
learning.
Methodology;
(ⅰ)Engagement activity: Teacher will sing doubles song and children will sing
along with teacher.
(ⅱ)Introduction: Teacher will tell about the signs of + and=. Teacher will paste
pictures/ items/ objects on the board along with the signs of addition (+) and equals
to (=). She will then ask the children to count pictures on one side of (+) sign and
then on the other side and write the numbers. Children will count the pictures
altogether and tell the number.
Teacher will write a sum on the board and ask the children to take out fingers
accordingly. Children will then count the fingers altogether and tell the number.
Teacher will write the answer on the board.
(ⅲ)Activity:
1. It will be a small group activity.
2. Teacher will provide penguin board and a basket with pegs to each group.
3. Children will count on their fingers and put peg to the sum that adds up to
main number.
Assessment:
(ⅰ)Class work: Notebook page 87
(ⅱ)Home work: Sums of addition will be given on registers.
Recap: Teacher will raise her fingers and students will count and tell the answer.
