(2:49 PM 2/15/2009) Grant: If you don't mind, why does a 20V swap into an AE86 need

a speed sensor? The t-50 has a cable speedometer output right?

I've got a harness you made for a guy that put a ST engine using blacktop
electronics into his Mr2. I bought his harness and am using a BT ecu to control a
BT engine.

Besides the engine electronics, what needs to be interfaced between the engine
harness and the chassis harness. Just the items, ex. oil pressure sender, starter
relay wires, etc...

If you could answer those questions I would be really grateful I talked to you
about pricing b4 to convert this to an ae86 harness, but my dad thinks we should do
it together.

Thanks!
(12:11 PM 2/16/2009) mr220v: Corolla gts's use the cable type speedo. The sensor
is actually in the cluster, and is sent back to the ecu at the spd pin. With the
20v ecu's having a speed signal is not all that important. No difference in how
the motor runs. Only thing is the CEL can come on under certain circumstances.

If this harness came out of an 85-86 mr2, the structure will be less than ideal for
an ae86. Basically, with an 86 mr2 harness, you'll be mounting the ecu in the
front passenger side corner of the engine bay. An 87+ mr2 harness could be made to
work.

I tell you what, I have an uncut stock blacktop harness that i've been trying to
sell. If you wanted, I could trade you that for that mr2 harness.
(12:45 PM 2/16/2009) Grant: Thanks for that info on the CEL and speed sensor. What
is different about the 87+ harness?

I bought the harness from a:

The harness I have has a 22 pin square-ish connector (as detailed in the
pandawheels.com MR2 swap wiring guide) but the other two connectors are different.
There is a flat 6 pin connector (5 are pinned) and a flat 9 pin connector ( 8 are
used). I'm guessing that means I have a kouki MR2 harness then...

I'm thinking about your offer, but no offense please, I don't believe it's a
straight trade.. I paid $150 for this harness and I don't think a blacktop harness
is quite as valuable. I'm not positive though
(1:22 PM 2/16/2009) mr220v: You might check the prices on 20v blacktop harnesses on
ebay and this board. $200 is about as low as they go. They go as high as
$300...and actually sell.

If you'll put the BT harness you have there on the motor and envision where the ecu
will sit when it's installed in the car, you'll see what I mean about trying to use
an 85 mr2 harness in an ae86. The ecu would mount where the afm sits right now.
Trying to get that harness to work in an ae86 will be worse than a cut 20v harness.
