GRAMMAR;

Present Continuous:

- We use it to talk actions in progress which are not finished yet.


- We can use these expressions to identify: NOW, RIGHT NOW, AT THE
MOMENT, TODAY.
- We also use it to talk about an action which is still in progress around
now.
E.g.
My wife is working at the moment.

S/P + am/is/are + verb(-ing) + complement

Rules of verbs with “-ING”:

1. If the verb finishes in “-E” drop it and add “-ing”.


E.g.
Take → taking Move → moving
Have → having Drive → driving

2. If the verb finishes in Consonant + Vowel + Consonant, double the last


consonant and add “-ing”. Juts if the verb has ONE SOUND.

In-te-res-ting → 4 sílabas en Español


In- teres-ting → 3 sílabas en Inglés.

E.g.
Stop → stopping plan → planning
Swim → swimming shop → shopping

(British) → If the verb has two sounds and the last sound has the stressed so
you can double the last consonant.

(uk) Travel → travelling


(us) Travel → traveling

3. If the verb doesn’t follow any of the last rules, so just add “-ing”.
E.g.
Work → working
Read → reading
Play → playing
Fix → fixing
Show → showing
SEMIVOWELS → -Y/-W/-X

EXCEPTIONS:

See → seeing

Tie → Tying
Lie → Lying
Die → Dying

VOCABULARY:

- On her/his way to work → en camino a un trabajar


- Spoken English → is the English to communicate orally.
- Written English → is the English to communicate by writing.
- Go out → to leave from a place to enjoy.
- Yet → we use for negative sentences or questions to say something is not
completed but will be completed soon. (aún no).
- Cross → cruzar.
- Hide → esconderse / ocultarse
- Scratch → rascar
- Tie → como verbo (atar), como sustantivo (corbata).
- Wave → como verbo (agitar/saludar), como sustantivo (ola).
