How to write an article?

 An article is a very common type of text.

 The article has to have a purpose: the aim is usually to talk about a topic we like and we
are familiar with.
 Language:
→ it is more informal than an essay and it depends on where it is published (an
international magazine, a teenage magazine, a newspaper etc);
→ the tone must be relaxed, making use of contractions and other colloquial
expressions;
→ it is recommended to use rethorical questions and exclamation marks;
→ you address the reader directly( you, your) and can make jokes if they are
appropriate.
 Articles must always have a title ( a catchy one);
→ each paragraph must address a single idea and we have to add the
introduction and the conclusion;
→ it is good to end your article with a rethorical question;
 Giving your opinion – you can speak in the first person as much as you like.
 Common topics- the Internet, health and family, music, plays, hobbies etc.
 Number of words- 140-190 words.

STRUCTURE:

! It is visually appealing: the structure clear, leaving space between paragraphs and having a clear
introduction and conclusion.

 The Introduction -presents the topic in general;

 The 2nd paragraph -talks about why I like the topic and one of the things that I like about
it;
 The 3rd paragraph- makes a recommendation of something ( a website, for example)
explaining why I like it so much;
 The conclusion- is a summsry and asks the reader for some feedback.

Rethorical questions:

What do you think about ?

Do you ever wonder..............?

What would you say If I told you that?

Introducing new ideas:
