1. PURPOSE
This method statement describes the process of Testing and commissioning of Public
Address System to ensure an effective implementation of the works in accordance with
the project specifications and relevant standards.
2. SCOPE
This procedure provides a method of control for testing and commissioning of Public
address system works in the Snow Dunes area of the Family Entertainment City at Doha
Festival City.
4. QUALITY
4.1 All materials for Public Address System shall be covered by protective sheet in a
secured shelter at storage area.
4.2 Once the documentation for material delivery is complete, an inspection request via
MEP will be raised and submitted to the Consultant for inspection and approval.
5. RESPONSIBILITIES
The Site Engineer and Foreman/Supervisor are responsible to control the work and
ensure it is being carried out in accordance with the related method statement. All
personnel must be aware of health & safety requirements and relevant control
measures prior to commence any construction activities throughout the construction
site.
6. SEQUENCE OF WORK
6.1.1 Due to the ongoing construction activities it is necessary to store the materials in a
secured shelter at storage area and shall be protected from any potential damage.
6.1.2 Racks will be transported / offloaded by a Boom truck while pickup truck will be used
for other lightweight materials and manually offloaded.
6.1.3 Offloading of materials shall be strictly observed and care must be taken. The materials
shall be carefully placed on the shelves and/or on the levelled ground surface inside
the shelter.
6.1.4 Verify that the delivered materials are in standard packing and with correct information
as per the approved material submittal and are in line with the delivery note, packing
list / bill of lading and purchase order.
6.1.4 Check the quantities against the delivery note.
6.1.5 The materials will be inspected and verified that they are in conformance with the
project requirements and relevant documents. In case of any damage found,
immediately notify the Supplier in order for them to take necessary action.
6.3 Pre-Commissioning
6.3.1 Ensure that the PA System devices & rack installation are complete.
6.3.2 Ensure that the labels on PA system rack and all devices are properly installed.
6.3.3 Ensure that the earthing for PA rack is properly connected.
6.3.4 Ensure that the cable installation & termination are completed at speakers, amplifiers,
controller, CD changer, AM/FM tuners, antennas and other devices being integrated
with PA system.
6.3.5 Ensure that the cables have passed the continuity test before termination.
6.3.6 Ensure that the cable connections are secured to avoid system malfunction.
6.3.7 The PA System workstation is properly installed.
6.3.8 PDU and power cable connections are neatly arranged..
6.3.9 Ensure that the system software and its configuration parameters are available.
6.3.10 Interfacing connection with fire alarm is complete.
6.4.1 Ensure that the pre-commissioning activities are successfully carried out.
6.4.2 Switch on the AC 240V power supply to all the main rack end devices and start the
configuration of controllers, amplifiers.
6.4.3 Check the communication of all speakers from the amplifier by each loop individually.
6.4.4 Configure the controller as per site requirement to suit with the installed devices
successful functionality.
6.4.5 Configure the call station device microphone, with numerical keypad and zone
selection device respectively.
6.4.6 Check all the speakers are working properly with sufficient sound as per site
requirement.
6.4.7 Check all the rack end devices are working properly with good condition as per site
requirement.
6.4.8 While the background music is playing it will be muted as soon as the microphone
paging starts.
6.4.9 During the fire alarm activation the background music will be muted and the
evacuation message starts.
6.4.10 Check the fire evacuation message voice tone if working properly during fire condition
with English and Arabic languages and ensure all zones in entire building are covered.
6.4.11 Highlight the procedure for configuration of controller for zone, emergency message,
etc. In case of fire/emergency, fire alarm system will trigger centralized PA system to
broadcast pre-recorded evacuation message to entire building / all zones.
