CODE
CHAPTER 2: LEGAL EASEMENTS
SECTION 6: DRAINAGE OF BUILDINGS
PD 1096
CHAPTER 9: SANITATION
NAT’L BLDG CODE
SECTION 904: STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM
1. Rain water drainage shall not discharge to the sanitary
sewer system.
2. Adequate provisions shall be made to drain low areas in
buildings and their premises.
SECTION 702.1
Fixture Unit (F.U.) ratings for plumbing fixtures
shown in Table 7-2 should be determined by the
required trap size. Fixtures and devices not
mentioned in Table 7-2 should have their Fixture
Unit equivalents decided using the Table 7-3
guidelines based on their rated discharge capacity
in liters per second.
Exception: Self-service
laundries
LAWS AND CODES FOR DRAINAGE
SECTION 703.1
The minimum sizes of vertical and/or horizontal
drainage pipings will be determined by adding the total
of all fixture units connected thereto and, in the case of
vertical drainage pipes, by their height or length.
SECTION 703.2
Table 7.5 shows the maximum fixture unit limits for
various diameters of drainage pipes, building drains, and
building sewers. It also defines the maximum fixture
unit allowances for different branch intervals and the
maximum length in meters for specific sizes of vertical
drainage pipes.
LAWS AND CODES FOR DRAINAGE
SECTION 704.1
Drainage pipe must have approved inlet fittings for fixture connections that are correctly placed for the size and type of
fixture to be attached.
SECTION 704.2
Two fixtures set back-to-back, or side-by-side, within the distance allowed between a trap and its vent, may be served by a
single vertical drainage pipe, provided each fixture wastes separately into an approved double fitting, such as:
a double sanitary tee or double wye
1/8 bend
SECTION 705.3
Horizontal drainage lines connecting to other horizontal drainage lines should use specific fittings:
45° wye branches
Combination wye and 1/8 bend branches
SECTION 705.4
Vertical drainage lines connecting to horizontal drainage lines should use specific fittings:
45° branches
Other approved fittings with equivalent sweeps are also acceptable.
60° branches or offsets can be utilized only when installed vertically in a true vertical position.
LAWS AND CODES FOR DRAINAGE
SECTION 706.1
Each horizontal drainage pipe shall have a cleanout at its upper terminal, and each run of piping over 15 meters in total
developed length shall have a cleanout at every 15-meter length or part thereof.
On short horizontal drainage pipes with a slope of seventy-two (72) degrees or less from the vertical line or when using an
angle 1/5 bend.
A two-way cleanout fitting can be built inside the building wall near the connection between the building drain and the building
sewer or outside the building at the lower end of the building drain, extending to ground level where authorized.
LAWS AND CODES FOR DRAINAGE
SECTION 706.9
Cleanouts shall be provided for pressure drainage systems.
LAWS AND CODES FOR DRAINAGE
SECTION 710
Fixture outlets must not be connected to the horizontal excreta drainage pipe system
within 2.4 meters of any vertical to horizontal change of direction of a suds-producing
stack.
Exceptions:
Single family residences
Stacks receiving the discharge from less than (3) stories of plumbing fixtures
LAWS AND CODES FOR DRAINAGE
SECTION 1201.4
The public sewer may be considered unavailable when such public sewer or any exterior
drainage facility connected thereto is located more than 61 meters from any proposed
building or exterior drainage facility on any lot or premises thereat.
LAWS AND CODES FOR DRAINAGE
No cesspool and septic tank effluents, seepage pit, or underdrain system shall be connected to the excreta building sewer
leading to public sewer main.
No commercial food waste grinder shall be connected to a private or public sewage disposal system unless permission has
first been obtained from the Administrative Authority.
The installation of an approved watertight sewage or wastewater holding tank may be mandated by the Administrative
Authority or Health Officer to prevent contamination and protect public sewers or to address hazardous or nuisance conditions
at a construction site, as it is designed to contain and facilitate the periodic removal of specific materials.
LAWS AND CODES FOR DRAINAGE
The bottom of the water pipe at all points, shall be at least 0.3 m above the top of the sewer or drain line,
Place water pipes on a stable shelf next to the common trench, keeping a 0.3-meter distance between them and sewage or
drain lines. Install water pipe joints 0.3 meters above the sewer and at least 3 meters from the sewer line in both directions
when crossing unauthorized sewage or drainage materials such as clay.
Allow access to connect a building sewer to a publicly available sewer, subject to meeting Administrative Authority
requirements and legal easements and not breaching other restrictions.
Provide additional space for a building sewer after acquiring Administrative Authority clearance for appropriate reasons
such as ownership transfers or boundary modifications, maintaining regulatory compliance. As a condition of property
ownership, keep a record of this agreement, stressing uniform management of impacted areas, and register it with the Local
Register of Deeds, binding all future property owners. Also, provide a copy of this agreement to the Administrative Authority.
