News Story 1: Senior Prank

Some seniors will go to the school board tomorrow to discuss how to make their principal

change her mind from banning them from the senior all-night party.

The seniors said the prank was supposed to be harmless and innocent.

“The principal’s punishment is too severe,” senior Alfred Refugio said. “The prank was

funny. It wasn’t mean and didn’t hurt anyone.”

Around 20 seniors plan to talk to the school board about their punishment. They said it is

unfair and that principal Vanita Haygood should revise the discipline she had chosen.

“Let the punishment fit the crime. They were balloons. Balloons.” Ruby’s mother Milly

Kanur said. “They could have put shaving cream on them or glitter. But they didn’t.”

Haygood had told students that she wasn’t going to put up their senior pranks.

“The seniors are welcome to speak at the board meeting, but the board should not

reverse my decision,” Haygood said. “The janitors spent more than an hour picking up balloon

pieces though the school.”

Last year’s seniors put Vaseline on all the door handles and lockers. Lots of kids and

teachers couldn’t get to their next class and were late.

“Our punishment is way too extreme. I think the board will listen to us.” Senior Ruby

Kanur said, “There are so many bad senior pranks out there. We didn’t vandalize anything.”

They all thought their punishment was unfair. Math teacher Grace Killen wasn’t very

amused with how this year's senior prank went.

“The hallways were chaotic and super loud during the balloon release,” Killen said. “The

seniors didn’t mean any harm, but the prank was disruptive.”
