Exercise 3 Find all descriptions of dimensions and properties about the great white shark in the following passage, and change them into structure 2. Try to retain the qualifying statements as much as possible. Example: Original: A great white captured in Southern Australian waters in the 1870s was 10.9m long. Changed: A great white captured in Southern Australian waters in the 1870s had a length of 10.9m.

The great white shark is known for its size. The largest individuals known were more than 6 metres long, and weighed more than 2,300 kilograms. Adults on average are 45.2 m long and weigh of 6801,100 kilograms. Females are generally larger than males. Several great white sharks caught in modern times have been estimated to be more than 7 m long, but these claims have received some criticism. It is widely accepted that the great white shark can reach 6.1 m in length and 1,900 kg in weight. Hunting techniques vary by prey species. Off Seal Island the shark ambush brown fur seals from below at high speeds. The peak burst speed of these sharks is largely accepted to be above 40 kilometres per hour. Great white sharks reach maturity at around 15 years old. The maximum life span of these sharks is believed to be more than 30 years.

In addition to the following form discussed in class:

A: Slow lorises have a life span of 20 to 25 years. structure 2 can also have the following form, which qualifies the property life span with a phrase beginning with that: B: Slow lorises have a life span that ranges from 20 to 25 years. and B: Slow lorises in captivity have a life span that is shorter.

Slow lorises are a group of five species of strepsirrhine primates found in South and Southeast Asia. Compared to the slender lorises, the snout of the slow loris is less pointed. The eyes of slow lorises are forward-facing. The dental formula of slow lorises is , meaning that on each side of the mouth there are two upper

and lower incisors, one upper and lower canine tooth, three upper and lower premolars, and three upper and lower molars. Slow lorises range in weight from 265 grams for the pygmy slow loris, to as much as 2,100 grams for the Bengal slow loris. Their combined head and body lengths range from 18 to 38 cm between all species. Unlike galagos, which have longer legs than arms, slow lorises arms and legs are nearly equally long. Their ratio of arm to leg length averages 89, indicating that their forelimbs are slightly shorter than their hindlimbs. A study of the Sunda slow loris indicates that its diet is 71% fruit and gums, and 29% insects and other animal prey.
