TEACHING OLDER ADULT

Summary of journal reviewed

Teaching for older adult must have an effective plan, it must be individualized to fit the needs and lifestyle of
the elderly patient, and in order for goals to be mutually acceptable, the patient must participate actively in goal
setting. The ability to comply with expected behavioral changes depends heavily on the changes being
perceived as important by the patient, the changes being able to fit into the patients lifestyle, and the availability
of the resources. The main objective of health education is to provide older assistance so that they can lead a
healthy life through their own efforts and actions. Therefore, health education for older adults supports and
develop all kinds of individual learning processes. Teaching for an elderly person, goals must be individualized
not only in accordance with what the patient needs, but with what he or she chooses to do.

Reflection

In regards to health education for older adults, it is very important to plan on providing the best available
knowledge and training, allowing the older adults to remember and implement it in their everyday activities. To
improve the patient's condition and assist them with performing their daily duties, it is crucial to carefully
consider their level of activity, capacity for learning, resources, and even their understanding of a particular
language. Health education, as we all know, has a significant influence on the elderly since it gives techniques
for dealing with potential diseases such as hypertension, arthritis, stroke, cancer, chronic renal disease, COPD
(chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), dementia, and stroke. To prevent the onset of these diseases at an early
stage, the healthcare provider will provide information on precautions and treatment options to older adults
through creating seminars or symposiums, webinars, or lectures. In addition, the significant aspects of health
education for older individuals focus on providing the best available knowledge and training, allowing them to
retain and implement it in their everyday activities. Examining the patient's level of activity, capacity to learn,
resources, and even their ability to grasp a certain language are critical to improving their condition and
assisting them with their everyday tasks. Furthermore, as well as giving older individuals enough time to digest
events and information during training, you should also give them additional breaks throughout lectures so they
have time to take notes and give them the option to clarify anything they are unclear about by asking questions.
Choose fonts and styles that will allow older adults to readily read the content. Interacting with each older
patient is crucial in order to offer lessons that are relevant to their individual health requirements and
prospective ailments. The majority of older people are interested in sexuality and aging, exercise, nutrition, and
other themes linked to sickness prevention and quality of life. Finally, we must be cautious and act as their
anchor through difficult periods in order to gain their confidence and cooperation for future educational sessions.
The awareness of healthcare experts must be soaring in order to develop and improve the lives of patients.
