THERMODYNAMICS II
Homework 6
(Final Exam)
It is imperative that you give numerical values in the form of 3 (three) significant digits at least while
you are solving.
All details should be shown for your solutions. Results without intermediate procedures should not be
given. Values that are not certain how they are solved and where they come from should not be given.
Results must be uploaded to the system until June 17, 2020, time 16:30. If you cannot load Homework
6 into the perculus system in time, you will not be able to upload it to the system again.
Files uploaded to the system in time will be evaluated.
Then, you need to send the file, you uploaded to the system, by mail at the addresses of
oturgut@gazi.edu.tr and pandemifinal@gazi.edu.tr until June 17, 2020, time 16:30.
Good Luck.

Q1. A rigid tank involves 1.5 kg of argon at pressure of 2 MPa and at temperature of 320K. Helium is
added to increase the pressure to 3 MPa while the temperature remains constant at 320K. Determine
(a) the mass of helium added and
(b) the volumes which would be occupied by the helium and argon if each gas were contained
separately at the temperature and pressure of the mixture, i.e., 320K and 3 MPa.
