This course outline provides an introduction to process automation and PLC programming. The course will cover introductions to process automation and PLCs, the IEC 61131-3 programming standard, basic PLC programming, 2-step controllers, and closed-loop control applications including level, flow, pressure and temperature control. Students will be assessed based on a group assignment, test, and examination. References and recommended programming tools are also provided.
