You are on page 1of 9

Instructions:

1. Kindly follow the format as shown for every pages

2. Draw first the mechanism (dimensions will be shown on the succeeding pages and follow as
indicated) Note: Disregard Ks (space scale) in drawing the mechanism but will be used in
solving the analytical solution of the initial velocity
3. Write the worded problem, your analytical solution and answers (scalar quantity of velocities)
following the format as shown on the images
4. Graphical solution for resolution and composition must overlap with the mechanism and kindly
use color coding of pen in drawing the solution. Similar to laboratory but for lecture, weight is
not that important as long as you follow the correct color
5. Worded problem will be rewritten on the succeeding pages
Mechanism 1: dimensions in inches
Mechanism 2: dimension in inches
Mechanism 3: dimension in inches
Worded Problems:

Problem 1:

The Speed of Crank Q2A is 38.2 rpm clockwise. Q2A is 3 ft long and the rest of the members are
drawn to scale as shown in the figure.
Solve for the velocity of point A and find the velocity of point B, C, D and E using the resolution and
composition method.
Ks = 1 inch : 2 feet
Kv = 1 inch : 16 fps

Problem 2:

Link 2 revolves on its center in a clockwise motion with an instantaneous angular velocity of
95.5 rpm and from Q2 to point A, the distance is 1 feet. The rest of the members are drawn to scale
as shown.
Compute for velocity A and find velocities of points B, C, D, E and F using Resolution and
composition method
Kv = 1 inch : 16 fps
Ks = 1 inch : 1 feet

Problem 3:

The Instantaneous Angular Velocity of Crank Q2A is 95.5 rpm counter clockwise. Q2A is 2 ft long
and the rest of the members are drawn to scale as shown in the figure.
Solve for the velocity of point A and find the velocity of point B, C, D, E, F and G using the
resolution and composition method.
Ks = 1 inch : 1 foot
Kv = 1 inch : 16 fps
