Problem Statement: Varanasi has many religious sites where devotees offer fresh
flowers. These flowers are dumped in Ganga River and causes water pollution. Water
pollution in Ganga River affects its aquatic life and releases toxic chemicals in river.
Millions of people are dependent on Ganga River for their water needs and poor quality
of water affects them adversely.
Current solution: Government picks these flowers for the river and processes them in
government waste management facility.
Gap: Flowers are a naturally fragrant substance but as they are processed in waste
management facility, they go waste. These flowers could be used to make something of
value.
Data: Close to 10 million tonnes of flowers are dumped in Ganga River every year.

Unique Value Proposition (USP): How is your business idea unique and how does it
create value for your target customers?
Company brief: Phool is an Agarbatti (and other religious offerings) making business
that makes its products from flower waste dumped in Ganga River. Traditional
Agarbattis contain toxic substances, but Phool products are made from 100% natural
and sustainable raw materials. Due to raising awareness about sustainable lifestyle,
customers are looking for natural products that do not pollute the environment.
Mission: To fulfil need of religious products using all natural and upcycled raw materials
USP: Phool is a unique brand that not only provides natural products but also reduces
water pollution in Ganga River.
Target customers:
1. Religious people looking for an all-natural alternative to traditionally made devotional
products.
2. Consumers who shop using e-commerce websites
3. Consumers who are will to pay slightly higher price for a sustainable and natural
products.
