Lab 1: Drawing of a leaf

Topic: Photosynthesis/respiration
Title: Drawing of a leaf
Aim: To draw the external features of a leaf
Materials: Leaf

Procedure:
1. A leaf was obtained from a tree.
2. The leaf was observed and the external structures were drawn.

Analysis and Discussions:

Three key structures on a leaf are : The midrib, veins and stipules. The midrib
helps the plant stay in an upright position and it also helps to keep the leaf
strong during the wind.

Conclusions:
Two external features of a leaf are the midrib and veins.

Reflection:
I learnt that the midrib helps keep the plant in an upright position. Leaf is
related to real life by showing us change is inevitable because a leaf changes
with the seasons. It begins as the bud in early spring, unfolds and expands in
the summer, and finally changes color and falls to the ground in autumn. The
natural process of life includes change.
