LINEAR MODEL FOR EQUATION OF MOTION (SDOF)

FREE BODY DIAGRAM METHOD (Newton's Law)

Steps:
1. Choose a generalized coordinate system (x or  )
2. Draw free body diagrams (one with external forces and or with
effective forces)
3. Apply appropriate equation to FBD
4. Use assumptions and algebraic manipulation to come up with
the governing differential equation

I=3.5X10-8m4 and of length 35 cm. The beam is
supported at its free end and by a circular
aluminum cable of diameter 1 mm and length
30 cm.
(a) Determine the equivalent stiffness of the
assembly.
