I. Motivation

spreadsheet tool to perform calculations on numerical data
2. Mahalagang pag-aralan natin ito upang magamit natin nang tama ang electronic

It is important to know this lesson so that we can make accurate computations in easier

The teacher will distribute pieces of puzzles to both grade 5 and 6 class and together will
put up a puzzle containing the electronic spreadsheet interface.
After putting up the puzzle each learner will label parts of the spreadsheet.

Note: this activities will target Indicator 6

Modelling
The teacher will now let learners listen to the discussion on the different basic functions
and formulas in electronic spreadsheet. The discussion will be done separately since Grade
5 will be in Filipino language and Grade 6 will use the English language
Basic Functions at formulas
1. Sum Function
2. Product Functions
3. Quotient Function
4. Average Function

Functions are ready-made formulas that perform a series of operations on a specific


range of values. For example, to determine the sum of a series of numbers in cells A1
through H1, you can enter the function =SUM(A1:H1), instead of entering =A1+B1+C1+
and so on.

Every function consists of the following three elements:


1. The = sign indicates that what follows is a function.
2. The function name (for example, SUM) indicates the operation that will be
performed.
3. The argument (for example, A1:H1), indicates the cell address of the values that
the function will act on. The argument is often a range of cells, but it can be much
more complex.

Examples:

=AVERAGE: Calculates the mean or average of group of numbers.

=SUM: Adds the values and calculates the total in a range of cells.

The teacher will give some functions and formula for We Do and You Do episode.

Ex. A. =SUM (A1:G1)

B. =D2/E4

C. =F1-D3

D. =AVERAGE(B1:G1)/6

The teacher will post this question serves as basis for Indicator 3.
