A very good morning to the honourable judges, teachers and my fellow friends.

My
name is ________________ and I am standing here today to deliver a speech about
‘Why School Children Should Have Hobbies’.

Ladies and gentlemen,

First and foremost, hobbies can help us to occupy spare time usefully. As time
is gold, spare time could be occupied by beneficial hobbies. This will keep us from
loitering with bad company and involving in juvenile delinquency. Instead of doing
these wasteful activities, you should do other activities like sewing, swimming,
playing musical instruments and dancing. This can enhance soft skills.

Apart from that, hobbies can avoid boredom. For example, you will be bored
of studying for a long time and your minds need some rest. You can take up your
hobbies to relieve stress and relax your mind.

In addition to this, hobbies can increase our knowledge. Reading is a hobby

that can improve our knowledge besides occupying the spare time. Hobbies such as
playing chess and ‘congkak’ need some skills to win the game. So, you will need to
have some tricky skill to defeat your opponent. Some people like to draw during their
leisure time. Drawing is a good hobby that will improve your creativity.

Last but not least, hobbies can be an amusement. Watching movies and
playing video games are mainly done by us for entertainment. As the saying goes, all
work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. We should need a break from our work.
When we have numerous of hobbies, our mind will be relaxed.

Ladies and gentlemen,

In a nutshell, hobbies play a vital role in our life. School children should have
hobbies in order to grow up healthily and happily. Thank you for lending me your
ears.
