HEAD OF MUSIC AND PERFORMING ARTS

JOB DESCRIPTION

LOCATION Nord Anglia International School Manila

JOB PURPOSE You will be an outstanding classroom practitioner of music and


lead a team of specialist performing arts teachers across the whole
school age range to maximize the progress and achievement of
students.

You will lead and develop an exceptional music curricular and


extra-curricular experience for students including
responsibility for the NAE- Juilliard Performing Arts
programme.

Additionally, you will be a significant part of developing students social


and emotional wellbeing and ensuring our students are developing the
21st century learner skills needed to prepare them for the next stage of
their life’s journey.

As a genuine team-player, you’ll work not only with the rest of the Nord
Anglia Manila secondary team, but across also with our regional and
central teams to ensure that the highest quality lessons are taught and
to ensure that everything we do is connected to our vision to create a
generation of resilient and creative global citizens who will change our
world for the better.

ENGAGEMENT AND INTERACTION – SCHOOL AMBASSADOR TO INTERNAL COMMUNITY

monitoring procedures adhered to within the school
 Facilitate parental engagement by ensuring Home
Learning tasks are presented comprehensively and detail
how parents can assist their children
 Treat parents with respect at all times and go through
the proper channels, using line managers if necessary,
with all interactions with parents
 Participate in residential weeks and other trips as
appropriate
 At the request of the Principal it may be required that
teachers give a presentation to parents e.g. Parents and
Friends, Meet the Teachers
 Support the running of House events, House Times and
House System

LEARNING AND TEACHING

 Ensure the effective teaching and management of  Observations

 Use teaching methods which will engage students and
stimulate pupils’ intellectual curiosity including the use
of effective questioning, clear presentation and good

through well focused teaching and through positive and
productive relationships in accordance with the rules and
behaviour policy of the school

PLANNING AND PREPARATION

• Hold a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure or equivalent for countries lived in
outside of the UK.
• Compliance with visa requirements for working in Philippines.
 A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils. And the willingness to
undertake appropriate child protection training when required

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS

 Bachelor’s degree in music or performing art related subject


 Qualified Teacher status
 Detailed up-to-date knowledge of the English National Curriculum
 Proven track record with at least two years' teaching experience
 Proven track record of working in and/or leading a performing arts faculty
 Experience of putting on a substantial school performance and working with a range of teachers and
school personnel
 Experience of managing a team of teachers who teach different subjects e.g. drama, music, art,
dance.
 Experience of working in a primary and secondary school.
 Teaching experience in an International School
 Experience of using technology to improve teaching and learning
 Strong understanding of teaching EAL students
 Excellent understanding of Assessment methodologies
 Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for producing reports and presentations.
 Good cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and
cultures.
 Excellent analytical skills – with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success.
 Results orientated with the ability to consistently map efforts against identified KPIs.
 Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing with multi-functional tasks.
 You’d like to work in a purpose-led sector.
