1. Teachers contribute wisdom to the students that can give
insight both into the nature of childhood generally as well as the distinctive characteristics of individual children by possessing psychological knowledge about the development stages of children. In this way, they will know what to do to the different types of children that they handle every day. Every child is unique, hence; he requires different teaching style. We all know that we should see to it that our teaching style should match the age and characteristics of the children we are teaching. Again, being knowledgeable about the nature of child is an advantage in making us an effective teacher. Let’s cite for example a certain class in a public school. As we all know, a typical class is usually composed of boys and girls. Since boys and girls have different preferences, we should make sure that our class activities suit them. Knowing that boys are physically stronger than their female counterparts, we should assigned them tasks that require force such as lifting heavy objects or scrubbing the floor. Girls on the other hand, should be given with lighter tasks such as sweeping the yard or washing the dishes. Gender sensitivity should not only be observed during cleaning time but during classes as well. Several studies reveal that students acquire more knowledge and wisdom if they are the learning environment is conducive to learning and if the teaching strategies used by the teachers also suit their personalities.
