Abyss Lore:
From the Packet

Lore 1:
* You are aware that the Abyss exists and that the Lasombra art of Obtenebration draws its powers from
it. You are aware of the Abyss' Children and other Lasombra groups who endeavor to study the mystery
behind their powers. (CbL [Rev]: 48, 63, 72-73)
* You know that the Abyss does not operate along principles of human logic or reasoning and that those
who attempt to comprehend the Abyss often suffer ill-effects from extended study. (PGttHC: 175-176)
* You understand that the intelligences existing within the Abyss are alien and do not hold to human
custom or manners, and that attempts to reason with any entities springing from the darkness are
generally futile. (CbL [Rev]: 73)
* You are cognizant of the idea that the Abyss, in obliterating the senses, allows an initiate to divine extra-
sensory truths as they comprehend the deeper meanings of the void. You are familiar with the ritual
Pierce the Murk. (PGttHC: 176)
* You have heard rumors of rituals that will allow you to call things from the Abyss into physical reality,
although you are uncertain of how this might be accomplished without calamity. (PGttHC: 177-179)

Lore 2:
* You know that the Abyss has been interpreted as many different things. Most frequently it has been
interpreted as hell, although you also have heard stories that indicate that the Abyss was the raw primal
substance which existed before God invoked creation. You know that Abyss connects in some way to the
spiritual processes of death. (PGttHC: 175-176)
* You know that initiates into Abyss mysticism eventually seem "off" to all those not inducted into the
mysteries, given the somewhat alien aura that exude as a result of their studies. You also know that the
Abyss can have lasting physical effects on its students, and that long-time devotees have had their sclera
darken, their skin grow progressively more ebon and their blood run black. (PGttHC: 177-178)
* You know that the Lasombra of the Abyss' Children often adhere to a Path of Enlightenment known as
the Path of Allied Night, which holds that all followers are unified in a combined collective of darkness.
You have also heard of the Road of the Abyss, a now forgotten path which was practiced in the dark ages
that preached sublime meditative detachment as one contemplated the nature of the darkness. (CbL
[Rev]: 67-68; PGttHC: 176)
* You understand the theories of communication to the things that lie in darkness and know how to cater
to their strange desires. You are familiar with the rituals Calling the Thing in Darkness, The Shadow of
Hands that Serve, The Heart that Beats in Silence and Calling the Hungry Shade. (CbL [Rev]: 73;
PGttHC: 176-179)
* You further understand how to meld portions of the Abyss with the frail material form, allowing an
acolyte to preserve and augment their body through the substance of oblivion. You have also heard of the
ritual Drinking the Blood of Ahriman and Transubstantiation of Essence. (PGttHC: 177-178)
* You have heard rumors of rituals that allow adepts to subsume their being into the void and unify with it,
hence allowing them to seek the wisdom of whatever lies there. (PGttHC: 179-180)

Lore 3:
Note: At this level of Lore: Abyss and higher, the character must possess the Flaw Nightmares.
* You know that the Abyss is felt more palpably in the lands of the dead, and you have heard tales of
ghosts and demons who venerate it as a source of anti-creation, calling it Oblivion. You know that some

6
circles have it that the Eldest among the Lasombra claimed to be the incarnation of the Abyss itself,
harbinging the return of the forces that reigned before creation. (CbL [Rev]: 72-73; DS:ItL: 95)
* You understand how one can give their being to the void to become imbued with things previously
though unknowable. You are familiar with the rituals Reflections of Hollow Revelation, and Whispers in
the Dark. You have heard that any question can be posed to the consciousnesses that lie within the
Abyss, but that it will take it's time to answer. You've heard uncomfortable tales of Lasombra's first childer
who remain forever trapped in darkness after asking how he might slay God. (PGttHC: 179)
* You know that once enveloped in the Abyss it might be possible to travel from one place to another in
the realm of materials through means of the void. You are familiar with the rituals Into the Chasm and
Descent into Darkness. (CbL [Rev]: 73)
* You have heard of rituals that allow their users to fill themselves full of the substance of nothingness and
to use it to fling their foes into the cold reality of Abyssal madness. (PGttHC: 181)

Lore 4:
* You have begun to comprehend the things born of the Abyss and know that it spawned terrible
creatures that were never born into the created world. You have heard whisperings of entities such as
Rabark, the black tree that blossoms inward; and of Zyras, the angel who waits to consume all things.
(DS:ItL: 96, 100; DR:S: 25)
* In your dreams, you can see the twisted and obscene passages in the dead material that overlies the
threshold of the Abyss. Your mind can begin to decipher the mysteries of this "labyrinth" and you possess
strange insights as to the ties that bind you to the Abyss' more proximate followers. (DR:S:21)
* You know how to harness the fury of oblivion and how one might cast down their foes with its powers.
You are familiar with the rituals Evocation of the Oubliette and Ahriman's Beckoning. (PGttHC: 181)
* You know how to harness the fury of oblivion and how one might cast down their foes with its powers.
You are familiar with the rituals Evocation of the Oubliette and Ahriman's Beckoning. (PGttHC: 181)
* You have heard of ways to blot out the sun itself with the power of the void. (PGttHC: 181-182)

Lore 5:
Note: At this level of Lore: Abyss, characters gain permanent Derangement.
* The ultimate mysteries of the Abyss are unveiled to you! Your mind lies naked before them!
* You have heard of the Grandmother, and know her sweet caress. (Orph[6]: 18, 31-32
* You understand the ritual The Cry that Slays Light. (PGttHC: 181-182

you do not know the difference.
* The common Paths of Enlightenment for Assamite Antitribu are Honorable Accord and Path of Caine.
* You know that the Assamite Antitribu make up the core of Assassins in the Sabbat as well as a good
chunk of the Black Hand.
* You know Assamite Antitribu will embrace anyone from any ethnicity, if they feel they fit the cause. This
is a stark contrast to the core clan, who tends to only embrace those of Middle-Eastern descent and often
males only.

Lore 3:
* You know the names of several famous Assamite Antitribu, Izhim Ur-Baal (Was one of the Assamites at
the Convention of Thorns and rumored to have been a Seraphim of the Black Hand), Lady Verdais
(Helped create the Sabbat paths of Enlightenment), Karif al-Numair (one of the first Assamite Antitribu,
also at the convention of thorns and member of the Black Hand), Joe “Boot” Hill (Black Hand and Ductus
of the Boot Hill Gang), Djuhah (rumored Black Hand Seraph and legendary warrior), Yazid Tamari (Black
Hand, former temporary Seraphim who is viewed as one of the modern leaders of the Assamite Antitribu)
* You know that the Assamite Antitribu never suffered from the Tremere curse laid upon their cousins.
* You understand that there are different types of Assamites.

they took it over at one point.
* You know the Unconquered views on the Laws of Haqim.
* You have heard that the recent surge of Unconquered to the Sword of Caine has come from some
horror at Alamut.
* You know what the Shakari are and about the ritual diablerie of the Hulul every 100 years.
* You are aware that there are, in fact, multiple castes of Assamites: Warriors, Viziers and Sorcerers, and

Viziers even more uncommon.
* You know the Unconquered follow a leader called the Hulul.

11
* You have heard of the legendary home of the Assamites, Alamut.

Lore 5:

* You know it was Yazid Tamari who held the Assamite Antitribu together (the remaining few
Unconquered, the Angels of Caine, and the Black Hand Assamite Antitribu) and rallied them once more.
You also know that Yazid is the Childer or grandchilder of Djuhah.

Antitribu.

the Sabbat when the elders of the clan defected in mass back to Alamut.
* You have heard rumor that the original Sorcerers and Viziers of the Sabbat that fled Alamut were
destroyed at Charozin by the actions of Izhim Ur- Baal to toss off the Curse of the Tremere.
* You know that Izhim Ur-Baal and Djuhah have not been heard from in over ten years. Many suspect
they have returned to Alamut and serve Ur-Shulgi now.
* You know that the Black Hand, as it is known today, was created by the Assamite Antitribu. That is to
say its structure and training was taken from the skills of the Assamites. (Time to buy some Black Hand
Lore)
* You know that the Unconquered and the Black Hand share a strong alliance. After the mass defection of
the Assamite Antitribu elders of the Black Hand, the current Shakari and Hulul have formed an agreement
with the Seraphim and the Regent of the Sabbat. It is even rumored that due to the defection in the first
place, some sort of agreement was struck to earn this trust and support by the consistory.
* You know the details of Assamite Bloodlines.

12
Assamite Lore:
From the Packet

Outsiders learning Assamite Lore can learn levels 1 through 4; however, the 5th level must be taught to
them by an Elder of the Clan (Coord Approval). Appropriately approved converts are privy to the full range
of levels 1-5, but level 5 must also be taught to them by an Elder of the Clan (Coord Approval). Assamites
are privy to one stage higher, meaning level 1 is 1 and 2, level 2 is 3, etc. As a note: Assamite PC's who
have Assamite Lore can glean knowledge of known members of the clan appropriate to their lore level.
Meaning if you want to know if "X" Assamite has "Y" rank, you should be able to learn that information.
Faction-specific information of a different Faction is considered one level higher. Assamites learn
Assamite AT Lore at Out of Clan ratings, and likewise Assamite ATs learn Assamite Lore at Out of Clan
ratings.

Lore 1:
* Assamites are assassins that only work for Princes.
* Assamites can blend into any surrounding and are masters of stealth
* Assamites work only for the blood of other vampires
* All Assamites are addicted to diablerie

Lore 2:
* You know that the primary Assamite Disciplines are Celerity, Quietus and Obfuscate, and that Quietus is
unique to their Clan.
* You know that Assamites thirst unceasingly for Kindred vitae and that they have a reputation being both
serial diablerists and professional assassins.
* You are aware that until recently, the Assamites had been placed under a curse by Clan Tremere which
physically prevented them from imbibing Kindred vitae.
* You know that recently the Clan seems to have endured some sort of schism, and that a sizable portion
of Assamites joined (or have at least made arrangements with) the Camarilla.
* You know that factions have been recently created within the Clan, one of which approached the
Camarilla (Schismatics) for membership and is considered full members of the Camarilla now, though
there are some who are still probationary. You are also aware that a Justicar may remove their
probationary status (as of 2008) and the elders of the clan in the Schism have ordered it done.

Lore 3:
* You know that the curse upon the Assamites was created by the Tremere at the end of the First Anarch
Revolt.
* You are aware that there are, in fact, multiple castes of Assamites: Warriors, Viziers and Sorcerers, and
that each of them fulfill a different function within the Clan hierarchy. You are aware that most Assamites
which outsiders encounter are Warriors.
* You are further aware that Assamite Disciplines listed in the first level of Lore apply only to the Warrior
caste. You know that the Viziers possess Auspex instead of Obfuscate, and the Sorcerers possess
Sorcery rather than Celerity.
* You know that the Clan is traditionally ruled by the eldest among them, and that Assamites will generally
defer to the eldest of their kind in each city.

13
* You know and can recite the Laws of Haqim (although you may not understand their meaning).
* You know that the Du’at are the three heads of the respective castes within the Loyalists: The Caliph
(Warriors), the Vizier or Fikiri (Viziers) and the Amr (Sorcerers).
* You know that an Assamite’s skin gradually becomes darker over time, rather than paler.
* You know the recent history of the clan and know of the Treaty of Tyre.
* You understand the meaning behind the Khabar.
* You know the different factions within the Assamites; Loyalists, Schismatics, Dispossessed etc.
* You are aware of some of the terms used to describe ranks of the various castes. (Fida’i, Rafiq,
aspirant, master, etc...)
* You are also aware of who you might have to contact to go up in rank even if you do not understand
who or what they are. (i.e. the council of scrolls, the Shakari, etc.)

Lore 4:
* You know that ‘Haqim’ was said to be a judge for the other Clans and their unruly childer, and that some
and some Assamites strive to carry out this imperative.
* You have heard of legendary Assamites such as: Izhim, one of the Four Seraphs of the Black Hand,
present at the Convention of Thorns; Jamal, the former reigning eldest in Alamut, destroyed by Ur- Shulgi;
Antara the Shepherd of Wolves, Fatima Al- Faqadi, and Thetmes, current Caliph of Alamut.
* You know that the Schism occurred with the return of Ur-Shulgi, who claims to be the chosen herald of
Haqim. Since his return, the Assamites have split into multiple camps. They are: The Loyalists, who follow
Ur-Shulgi; the Schismatics, who follow al-Ashrad, the former Amr of the Du’at; the Antitribu, who have
joined the Sabbat (also known as the Unconquered or the Angels of Caine); and the Dispossessed, who
claim no part in the Assamite clan internal struggle.
* You know about the series of events in the First Anarch Revolt that led to the Tremere Curse and have
probably read the Treaty of Tyre. You are aware that the Clan at the time refused to capitulate and join
the Camarilla.
* You are aware that there are slight abnormalities inherent to each of the castes, similar to Clan flaws.
You know that the Viziers tend to be maddeningly obsessive about their specializations, that the sorcerers
seem to be constantly imbued with the aura of their blood magic, and that the warriors always show signs
of diablerie (regardless of whether or not they have performed the deed).
* You have heard of the order of female warriors known as the Sisterhood of the Erinyes, and of the
“Thousand- Meter Club,” an informal grouping of any Assamites who have managed to kill other Kindred
from a kilometer away or more.
* You know the history of "The Blood Curse" and Tremere's part in it.
* You can determine who the prominent Assamites of each faction are (with a Static Mental Challenge).
* You know that they are free from the Tremere Curse.
* You have heard of an Assamite Bloodline that uses Animalism.
* You have heard of an Assamite Bloodline that uses Presence.
* You are aware of all of the terms used to describe ranks of the various castes.

Lore 5:
* You are aware that the Antitribu made up the bulk of the Sabbat’s elite fighting force, the Black Hand
(time to buy some Sabbat Lore).
* You have heard of the Baali Wars and how the Children of Haqim apparently fought back infernalist
forces bent on overtaking the Second City. You also know the story of how Ur-Shulgi originally appeared
in one of these battles, and that he is said to have single-handedly slain the entire Baali force at that time.

14
* You have at least heard, in passing, of famous Assamites such as: Djuhah, one of the four Seraphs of
the Black Hand, and the former disciple of Izhim Ur-Baal; and Tariq the Silent, a serial diablerist who
ranks amongst the most highly-sought Anathema of the Camarilla.
* You have heard the stories of how Haqim created each caste in the Second City, of how he founded
Alamut from a solid mountain by striking it with his spear, and of how he eventually left, disgusted with his
childer’s bickering.
* You have heard of the Leopards of Zion, a uniquely Jewish Assamite order.
* You have heard of the Web of Knives, an elite secret assassination organization within the Clan,
although you know little else.
* You know the history before "The Blood Curse", the time of the ancient world until the Dark Ages.
* You know the active members of your own faction and where they are located.
* You have heard of some of the most prominent members of other factions and where they are located.
* You know the details of Assamite Bloodlines.

Lore 6:
* You know that prior to the lifting of the curse, Assamite sorcerers were said to have created a ritual
whereby one could create a false diablerie through the ramification of accumulated blood, and this is why
the warrior-assassins for so long accepted blood as payment for their services and tithed it to their Sires.
* You have also heard that it is from the Baali, not Caine, that the Assamites acquired their Clan curse.
* You have heard of the Heartsblood, a mystical well once rumored to be within Alamut. It is said that
when any Assamite placed a drop of his blood into the Heartsblood, the entire well would bubble with
similar vitae, and that skilled sorcerers could from this donation recall the blood of any Assamite who had
used the well.
* You know the history of the Beginning – the founding of the Clan.
* You know of the Path of Blood in its form claimed by some to be the pure form (Ur-Shulgi also claims
that his modern version of Path of Blood is the true original form of the Path), called the Road of Blood.
The Road of Blood differs greatly from the modern Path of Blood. The reasons for judging, diablerie, and
relation to other children of Caine is completely different.
* You know the version of the Path of Blood practiced and developed during the time of the Tremere
Curse. As the original version required Diablerie, the path changed to suit the role of the Children of
Haqim after the Treaty of Tyre. Though practiced by a great many of the warriors during the 500 years of
the curse, in recent times this variation upon the path has largely been abandoned.

Baali Lore:
From the Packet

Lore 1:
* Knowledge to those who have survived and keenly watched the movements in the shadows during the
Baali Wars, and even the third one known as the Year of Fire.
* You know Baali are associated with infernalism, the worship of Demons for the purpose of
gaining personal power.
* You believe there are almost no Baali in the modern nights, as they area very rare bloodline after they
were decimated once more in the third Baali War; also known as the Year of Fire.
* You know Baali can summon flames and manipulate the feelings of others.
* You know that sometimes Baali congregate in groups.
* You have heard stories the Baali are not actually a clan, but more a coven of Cainites from every clan
who have sold their souls to Baal, and other demons.

Lore 2:
* Knowledge sought by those who devel into darkness for the truth hidden where the virtuous fear to
tread.
* You know that the groups Baali congregate in are called Hives, and that they have an internal
hierarchy
* You are familiar with the fact there are many legends of how the Baali came to be. From the line that
gave birth to the Giovanni, to being childer of Caine, to being children of one of the second generation. At
this level you know there are many stories but have only heard pieces of them as the bloodline is so rare
and from many old bloodlines oral traditions are passed down from mouth to mouth making solid
evidence of any creation myth hard to come by. Still other stories claim the line is far older-that the
originator of the First Tribe drank the Blood of Caine from the Accused's own wrist. The Dark Father
Himself, or so the story goes, sought to preserve his beauty and the spark of divinity that Caine saw in
him and bless him for he was most favored by Caine.Yet it is said that when the first of the Baali tasted
the blood it awoke a darkness in him. This corruption led him to gather members of the other clans and
birth children of his own to strike down Caine for stripping that divinity from him.His voice was said to be
angelic and able to sway any to his cause. It is said that he led his rebellion to face Caine Himself at the
steps of his throne in the First City, only to be cast down and cursed once more. Yet-as he wasCaine’s
most favored-his Father could not bring himself to end his childe’s unlife, instead condemning him to walk
away deformed and defeated. With the face of a monster, the first of the Baali would not rest. Not even
the will of the Dark Father could quench the fires of his pride.Though his angelic face was lost to history,
hisvoice, touched by the Divine, remained. The First turned wholly to darkness, his siren’s song calling
demons from the void and whispering in the ears of the Antediluvians, turning them against their
broodmates. In this, he had his first taste of revenge the fall of the First City.
* You know that the Assamites have a particular dislike for the Baali, although you do not know why.
* You know that thousands of years ago, the Baali were much closer to Clan Brujah, but that their alliance
was shattered for some reason.
* You do not believe that the Baali are a bloodline of any of the major Clans in the modern nights.

16

whom are rising stars among the dark brotherhood's of the Baali.

* You know that the Baali have the Disciplines of Presence, Obfuscate, and Daimoinon, and you
are familiar with the effects of the Daimoinon powers from Basic to Advanced.
* You are familiar with the rough outline of the Baali War, and know the true reason why the
Assamites hold a particular grudge against the Baali.
* Your have heard of Baali Apostates, although you do not know how the ritual works.
* You believe that Baali are not automatically infernal, but that their nature and interests often drive them
in that direction. As many of them worship the old gods, which modern society and cultures have called
demons, and in some cases truly were.
* You have heard the myth about how, Cappadocius:so offended by their blasphemous rituals that he
killed the First Tribe, only to suffer such regret at the loss of wisdom that he gifted the dying survivors with
his blood to preserve their knowledge no matter how dark.As well as the myths about how they were sired
by Enoch,Irad and even Zilla, with another myth pointing at the Hag who taught Caine the secrets of the
blood bond is the mistress that birthed the clan as revenge against Caine for spurning her, mixed in is the
story of another tale of the hag. Then there is also the legend that they were sired in the second city by a
lost name of the second generation as four siblings; three of whom became corrupted, with their sister
Enoia turning from her brothers and “sister” to find her own way. Another speaks of how a slave boy
found the Crone who taught Caine how to form the Blood Bond and he pulled the stake from her body, as
a reward she gifted him with the Embrace and taught him the secrets she would have shared with Caine,
had he only loved her. You have also heard that some believe the clan to be bloodlines of Tzimisce,
entranced by the mortals that became the baali pursued the knowledge of the occult at any cost that the
ancient sorcerer gifted them with eternal life so that they may forever seek perfection of the occult. There
are stories of the founder of the Salubri finding the First Tribe a she traveled east and slaughtered them to
the last. Casting them into their own black wells,Salubri sent his own blood after them to seal their taint
and very memory below.

* You know of the active Baali Methuselahs, and their supposed affiliations.
* Legendary Baali pits can be used in a high sacrifice once a year when the veil between worlds is
thinnest to take the power and essence of a greater demon, assuming its place.

17
* You understand that every demon worshiped by the Baali is another face of Ba’al.
* At this stage you know each of the creation myths of the baali are seeded with elements of truth. As fear
is a useful tool to force those of weakness to cower in the light, but proves a greater asset to tempt those
who would seek truth and power into the shadows where it lays hidden. Many of the creation myths of the
Baali are closely guarded secrets of the ancients of this bloodline. The truth like many secrets in this world
may never be known, but without question the blood of the salubri shares a unmistakable kinship that only
sibling rivalry could explain.

Creatures of Smoke and Shadow
From Cords office

Lore 1:
*You know that there are many different names for these creatures. The most popular ones are: Smoke
Monsters, Daeva, Shades, Shadow People, or as they seem to call themselves, Forgotten Ones. It is
rumored that Clan Ventrue has a special name for them that they use internally.
*You know that in their natural state they appear as nothing more than black smoke with glowing red
eyes. Sometimes the color of the smoke and the color of the eyes are different, but you do not know what
difference these colors make.
*You know that these creatures can possess both living and dead hosts and sometimes even inanimate
objects.
*You know that these creatures have a strange hivemind with one another and that their hivemind is
stronger with those who are closer to them in physical proximity.
*You know that these creatures seek the destruction of the world and all living and unliving beings. Some
of them are more overt in their destruction, and others are more subtle.
*You know that these creatures react to sunlight and fire in the same way that vampires do.

Lore 2:
*You know that these creatures do not have any personal identities or names. Many of them claim that
their names have been forgotten by the world, but they seem to have also forgotten who they once were
or what their names were as well.
*You know that these creatures all seem to have different personal theories and beliefs about their
origins, but that they all have a commonality in that they are constantly in a state of anger and fury which
they direct towards the world.
*You know that these creatures are somehow related to vampires, as they seem to still have a Beast. In
fact, their Beast seems to have much more control over them than it does for regular vampires. They are
not mindless Wights, but they are close.
*You know that these creatures can learn all the memories and abilities of those who they possess and
retain many of those abilities when possessing a new host later. The longer they spend possessing a host
and the variety of hosts they have possessed seem to be factors in how powerful they can become.
*You know that these creatures have a special hatred or fear of Clan Ventrue for some reason, and that it
may be related to a special bloodline of Ventrue who developed magic to combat them.
*You know that those who study ancient Noddist history and lore are also interested in studying these
creatures, and that they have some sort of special significance to Noddist myths about Gehenna and the
Flood.

Lore 3:
*You know that these creatures can have unique weaknesses called Banes that develop as they
grow in power. These Banes are unique to each individual creature, but discovering these
Banes is apparently the key to defeating the most powerful among them.

28
*You know that these creatures are capable of devouring one another as a shortcut to power much like a
vampire diablerizing another vampire. There does not appear to be any society or rules that they adhere
to internally, and so this practice may be a common way for them to settle disputes among their own kind.
*You know that these creatures can split themselves up into multiple creatures, though this makes each
individual creature less powerful. This seems to be the only way they can reproduce if they choose to do
so.
*You know that these creatures begin to develop identities and even pseudo-names the more powerful
they become. These “names” are usually only titles that describe their deeds or personalities and are not
their actual “true” names. You know that you can probably judge how powerful an individual Forgotten
One has become based on how close to an actual real name they have among their kind.
*You know that these creatures are resistant and sometimes even immune to oracular powers. Even the
most powerful seers and prophets have trouble predicting how they will act or what effect they will have
on the world. It is almost as if these creatures have been completely removed from Fate itself.
*You know that these creatures are somehow related to a scholarly cult of Malkavians known as the
Mnemosyne, and there are rumors that they are the reason why the world forgot about these creatures
until now.
*You know that these creatures are affected by a variety of different types of blood magic and rituals, but
that a common theme in all the methods to combat them are based in the power of sacrifice. It is
theorized that sacrifice itself is a way to invoke a stronger mentality of “remembrance”, which is the one
true universal Bane of all Forgotten Ones.

Lore 4:
*You know that these creatures lost their names to some sort of monstrous demigod of death and hunger
known only as The Eater.
*You suspect that the special hatred these creatures have shown towards Clan Ventrue is actually related
to the Ventrue’s tradition of frequently reciting their own lineage.
*You know that when a Forgotten One has cannibalized enough of its own kind and has possessed
enough corporeal beings, it can transcend its self-awareness and evolve its own ego enough to become a
Feared One instead.
*You know that a Feared One is different from a Forgotten One in that it has an actual name that it goes
by. This is not its True name, but it is a name that many know and fear, and so it gives it a semblance of
power and identity beyond that of mere Smoke and Shadow.
*You have heard of Mehket, who is supposedly one of the first Forgotten Ones to ever transcend and
become a Feared One. It is rumored that he currently spreads the terror of his nightmares across the
Northeast region of North America.

Lore 5:
*You know that if these creatures can somehow reclaim their True Name from The Eater, they are
restored back into physical vampires again which are called Remembered Ones.
*You know that the relative power and strength of the creature before they are restored back into a
vampire will often determine how much of their memories are returned to them. For example, the Feared
Ones that become Remembered are much more ‘whole’ than the lesser Forgotten Ones who are
Remembered.
*You know that due to the way in which these creatures reproduced through splitting their essences apart,
many of the smaller Forgotten Ones that are now becoming Remembered Ones are coming back with
weaker and thinner blood than they originally had, and that there may be similar or even identical copies
of themselves as vampires out there as well.

29
*You know that some of the Forgotten Ones are able to become Remembered spontaneously now
without external assistance due to the weakening of The Eater’s amnesia.
*You may have made a connection between all the various types of “Ones” that these creatures are being
called and the Malkavian legends of the Methuselah triad known as the Coronati, aka “Crowned Ones”.
You are unsure of what a Crowned One might be exactly in this context, but you know that The Eater
itself is supposedly one of them.
*You know that if The Eater becomes fully Remembered, then the world will be flooded with a sudden
influx of hungry Thin Bloods with amnesia that could permanently unmask the existence of vampires to
the entire mortal world.

traditional western schools of thought.(diabolism, blackmagic, witchcraft)and possess insights into the
practices of other cultures that fall outside the western schools of thought and how they pertain to the
beings from beyond. With enough training in this knowledge you can be prepared to deal with the

Lore 2:

history, you have an intricate understanding of your sect (or the sect that taught you the lore) and a broad
if stereotyped view of major sects in the dharma

Lore 3:
* You are familiar with common techniques held as “proprietary” to the Dharma(Rites, Disciplines etc).
You have a more nuanced understanding of other major sects in the Dharma. You may be familiar at this
point in passing with minor or heretical sects of the dharma.

Lore 4:
* At this level you are familiar with the minor and heretical offshoots of the Dharma.

Lore 5:
* At this level the scholar heard some of the rumored secrets of the Dharma though he cannot
determine the validity one way or the other.

Lore 6:
* This is a true scholar of the Dharma, familiar with the intricacies of some of the greatest secrets of the
Dharma.

Lore 7:
* There are no secrets of the Dharma this member does not know.

32
Faerie Lore:
From the Packet
Most non-Changeling genre characters will have the outsider-specific ability Faerie Lore if they have any
significant knowledge of the Fae. A description of what the various levels of that Lore should mean follow:

Lore 1:
* What avid readers of Charles De Lint and fans of Celtic mythology might know
* You might have had one or two first-hand experiences with the Fae, though you probably don't
remember many specifics of those interactions.
* You are familiar with a handful of second-hand modern-day accounts of dealing with them.
* You believe that the Fae exist, though you don't know if they can take physical form, if they're generally
invisible, or if they're something completely otherworldly.
* You are fairly certain that dreams have actual magical power, and they're not just random neurons firing
while you sleep.
* You know a decent selection of faerie tales and myths from Celtic, Norse, and local sources, though you
don't really know which of them hold truth and what those truths might be.
* Faerie magic is also probably real, though you don't know any real details.

Lore 2:
* What a studied new-age practitioner or wise old grandmother might know
* You have a very good knowledge of Celtic and Nordic faerie stories, and you're familiar with some of
faerie-like stories from other cultures, including Native America, Greece, and the Middle East.
* You know that the Fae are fond of children, artists, lunatics, and untamed, wild areas, just as they are in
the tales.
* You know that the Fae gather in places imbued with faerie magical power, and you know that they have
kings and queens.
* You know that belief and disbelief affect the Fae somehow, as there are fewer faeries nowadays
because fewer people believe in them. Likewise, strong faith and religious symbols (crosses, church
bells) can repel or harm them.
* You are certain that dreams (or nightmares) and faeries are connected on some deep level. You believe
faeries are able to discern a mortal's dreams and will help or possibly hinder them somehow.
* You know something about a handful of actual powers that the Fae actually possess, perhaps the
effects of a few levels of Arts, some Bunks, or the obvious effects of a Treasure. The knowledge is not
particularly detailed.
* You know that there are many types of faeries, and you know some characteristics about a few of the
types, though you don't know much.
* You're fairly certain that the Fae can take physical form somehow, though you don't know how.

Lore 3:
* What a successful faerie hunter or dedicated researcher might know
* You have a compendious knowledge of Northern European faerie tales, have a good working
knowledge of Mediterranean, North American, and Middle Eastern tales, and know a number of African,
Asian, Mesoamerican, and South American tales.

33
* You know that the Fae hide themselves from most mortals, and, as with waking from a dream, their
magic can - and will - cloud someone's memories.
* You are well-versed in the traditional methods of warding against faeries and faerie magic (rowan
berries, church bells, iron, scattering pins before you), though you don't believe that they all work as well
as they are purported to. You do know that convincing yourself that a faerie has no power over you can
conceivably foil their magics, however.
* You have probably met and talked with several different faeries, though you may or may not believe that
they were really faeries, depending on your Banality.
* You know a few faerie-specific terms, though not what they mean, and you think that faerie society
might roughly mirror Medieval, feudal lord-vassal relationships.
* You know that faerie magic is very good at affecting the minds of mortals, enchanting them to dance
(sometimes literally) to their every desire. You have a broader knowledge of specific types of faerie magic
- ideas of what the more common Arts are capable of, that they often involve seemingly idiosyncratic
actions (bunks) - but you don't know anything of its limits, per se.
* You know that fairies are passionate creatures, and their magic and mentality is often wild and
capricious, even alien.

Lore 4:
* What an Arcanum scholar might know
* You know nearly every European, Middle Eastern, and North American faerie tale, have a very solid
knowledge of African, Asian, Mesoamerican and South American tales, and know a number of aboriginal
Australian and Polynesian faerie tales.
* You know that faerie magic is fundamentally rooted in the magic of dreams, and faeries somehow exist
in a Jungian-style collective unconscious of the mortals of this world.
* You have a basic, fairly accurate understanding of the major types of faerie magic (the more common
Arts), including some specific information, though you know your knowledge is very incomplete. You also
know that objects can hold faerie magical power.
* You know that most faeries have human form, and they call themselves "kithain." You know that those
with strong faerie blood can manifest faerie magic and are often called "kinain," and there are other broad
groups within faerie society, though you don't necessarily know what they are called.
* You know that faeries each belong to one of a number of different "kiths", and you know something
about these kiths (basic familiarity with 2-4 of the more common kiths, along with basic information about
some of the weaknesses and strengths, but with some inaccurate knowledge).
* You know that faerie society is led by a noble caste that mirrors the feudal courts of old, though you
have heard that there may be rebellious Fae who do not accept their rule.
* You have heard a fair number of faerie-specific terms (see pp 32-33 of The Shining Host), but you only
know the general meanings of a small handful of these terms.
* You know that fairies are somehow drawn to people with great creativity like artists and children,
probably because of their associations with the magic of dreams.

Lore 5:
* What someone with an extensive family and personal history of faerie-association or a dedicated life-
long scholar of the fae might know; note that Faerie Lore 5 is roughly equivalent to Kithain or Changeling
Lore 1, with the addition of a compendious knowledge of faerie tales
* You have a detailed knowledge of nearly every faerie tale, no matter the culture, no matter how obscure.
* You know a decent amount about the common kiths and can describe them reasonably well. (This is
roughly equal to the descriptions in The Shining Host.) You are also aware of the existence of other, less

34
common groupings (such as inanimae, djinn, nunnehi, and various thallain), though you only have a
vague idea of their attributes.
* You are aware of the rough, actual meaning of some of the more common faerie-specific terms, though
you aren't certain of those definitions, and more obscure terms are still unclear.
* You are aware of the Dreaming, and you understand that it is some sort of spirit world (akin to the
Astral, the Umbra, or the Shadowlands, if you are aware of those) where mortals somehow visit when
they dream. You also know that physically-manifested faeries can enter the Dreaming somehow and
interact with sleeping mortals.
* You have evidence (or at least have heard tell) that faerie spirits actually inhabit the bodies of human
hosts in a sort of symbiotic or parasitic relationship, being reborn into a new body once their old host dies.
* You know the very basics of kithain culture, including the importance of Oaths, justice by Fior (though
you don't know what that entails), and the rough structure of governance on a local, regional, and broader
level.
* You know that "cold iron" is somehow anathema to faeries, and while you know this isn't the same as
wrought iron or steel, you may or may not understand how to obtain or make such a substance,
depending on your other Abilities.
* You have a solid understanding of the common Arts, along with reasonably accurate, practical details
about certain cantrips. You have also heard rumors of some of the more obscure Arts (kith-specific Arts,
Chronos, Inanimae slivers, though not Contempt or Delusion) to the level of brief, one-sentence
descriptions.
* You probably know the identity of a small handful of faeries, at least one in your general vicinity, and you
know how to contact them if you have to. You probably have also heard the (faerie) names of some (5-10)
of the more well-known faeries in the world today (e.g., the monarchs of Concordia, the Wire Man, Alexsei
of the Thirteen Toes, Nikos of the North, General Lyros).
* You are aware that the Fae fear something called the "Endless Winter," when humanity no longer
believes in them and all hopes and dreams come to an end.

Fallen Lore:
From the Packet
[OWbN Infernalism: Guide to the Infernal]
This is a specialized knowledge about the demons known as the Fallen and War of Wrath. This ability
should in no way be used simulate Background:Legacy [Demon:theFallen-Core Rulebook,p.156] Fallen
are able to have this lore equal to their value in Legacy, but every time they teach someone the lore they
must engage in a static mental challenge difficulty of 10 with the student. If the student wins or ties they
gain an insight that grants them a piece of the fallens true name. After having 5 pieces of a fallens true
name they are considered to have the whole thing. While the knowledge of the demons of hell is often
dangerous knowledge, the knowledge gained by fallen lore is even more so, the War of Wrath having
been wiped from creation by God and the heavenly host, with even the briefest glimpse of this forbidden
knowledge spurring the princes of hell to acts of genocide.Characters with this lore are asked to sign a BA
that should they be exposed as to having this lore, that heaven and hell will seek their end.

Lore 1:
Novice: Bible class. The angels did rebel against God's will. No,no really they did. There are fallen angels
in the world hiding, and they are divided into groups and subgroups, like many of the supernatural
groups.Simply put the bible and the fall from grace does likely have a grain of truth to it.If you paid
attention in Sunday school you likely can figure out the different houses of the fallen.

Lore 2:
Student: Not much survived the heavenly purge, and if any of the stories of the creation of the Nephilim
are true God willing the Almighty or Lucifer got them all.Perhaps you don't know everything, but you can
help figure out the highlights of the fall.

Lore 3:
Scholar: Humanity the great project was heading for a precipice. That there was no turning back from, one
that would lead the world into darkness, and from the creators light.Scholars among the fallen and rare
insightful mortal question if it is this action or the horrors that followed that caused the creator to turn from
this world abandoning it to its despair.

Lore 4:
Savant: The war of wrath is not a thing of speculation but fact.Within that war is the horrors committed by
the legions of the Fallen and those of Heaven. Having grasped this much insight from the ether the
cosmos starts to reshape before your eyes as you see how the realms and world fit,or perhaps that is
just your mind breaking under the gravity of the sin of knowledge it is weighed down by; with this
forbidden fruit.

Lore 5:
Oracle: The fallen may have numbered many, but among them are now a few of the angels that
dishonored heaven and those that turned their back on the world. Among those angels are those that
heaven could not lay its hands on at the end of the war of wrath; it is secrets lost to creation you have

36
gleaned insights into. Perhaps you were at Lucifer or Michaels side during the great battles of the war, or
are just cursed with the memories of one who was.

Dharmas) lead the Kuei-jin to power.
* If you are a Kuei-jin you understand your balance, and have a vague understanding of the other
possibilities. If you are not Kuei-jin you have a vague understanding that Yang vampires are weak to
metal, Yin Vampires are weak to Wood and balanced vampires have no such vulnerability.
* You can name a general stereotype of the Dharmas that readily come into contact in your
nationality (the Dharmas of Xue in China, The Face of the Gods in India, etc)
* You are familiar with the History of the Sect of your area (or the area in which you studied this
lore).
* You are familiar with claims that the Kuei-jin have returned from the Yomi. If you are Kindred you could
readily believe such claims are just extended superstition to cover odd and peculiar rites involving frenzy.
If you’re KJ, you certainly know the truth of this firsthand.
* You have a vague understanding of the cycle of ages.
* You have some understanding of the mythic “founder” of your personal area(most likely Xue
and his teachings)
* You know the titles and protocol of the local sect.
* You know Akuma is a term the Kuei-jin use for unrepentant servants of hell. Being declared one can get
you destroyed or outlawed by the courts. You’ve heard that some cruel ministers will conspire to declare
innocent Kuei-jin Akuma.

expected social roles based on astrological signs.
* You have heard a one sentence summary of the disciplines readily available to your dharma and sect
(the ones in the corebook).
* You Know dhampyr exist and can be produced by Yang-aspected Kuei-jin

Lore 3:
* You have extensive understanding of the histories and protocols of the local sect, you are
familiar with broad stereotypes of the other sects in the Middle Kingdom
* You are familiar with a general stereotype of the Dharmas not local to you (A Quincux Kuei-jin at this
level would be familiar with the broad stereotypes of the Heresies for example)
* You are extensively familiar with the nature of Kuei-jin Balance
* You are extensively familiar with the concepts of Direction and what they mean in KJ society.

43
* You are familiar with broad swaths of Kuei-jin history starting with Xue (or other mythic
founder) and leading up to modern times.
* You are familiar with the existence of rites, and might be able to sum up the generalities of basic and
common rites, though knowledge of the specifics of them requires the relevant background.
* You know that Akuma are considered servants of hell, but have heard rumors that while the term is used
politically, it is sometimes accurate - there may be something to the whole “servants of the Yama Kings”
thing.
* A person with this level of Lore may qualify for learning Kaja(pending other secondary concerns)

Lore 4:
* You have an understanding of the history of the Kuei-jin from the time of the Wan Xian to the
present day.
* You are familiar extensively with the nature of the Dhampyr, age, capabilities that they may weave Joss

* You are familiar with the concept of alternative techniques for common Disciplines and can give a one
sentence summary of the more esoteric disciplines (like Miabsham)

can name the most heavily active Bodhisattva in the middle Kingdom along with the Ancestors of many
major courts, you know who all the August Ancestors are along with the Daimyo of the uji.
* You have heard many tales of Kuei-jin and Kin-jin interaction, from the wars in India and the
Mongol conquest to the ancient legends of Zao-lat.
At this level of understanding you owe a KJ Court a Trivial boon for the effort(or equivalent to whatever
body provided the stolen Lore)

Lore 5:
* There are few legendary figures in Kuei-jin history you cannot name, from the founder of the
Rising Phoenixes to the Queen of Flesh who invented Flesh Shintai.
* At this level you understand extensively how Zao-lat poisoned the relationship between the two types of
vampires, how his thieving nature along with his thieving brood are the foundation of this ancient feud.
* At this level it is likely you have read from many translations of ancient tomes. You can debate
dharmic philosophy fluently.
* You understand that the rites and disciplines lost in the changing of ages were not lost by mere
ignorance and violence but rather by fundamental changes in the nature of reality, you know the Scorpion
eaters have lost many disciplines as well having gained new and horrific ones, you are concerned about
what this says about the future.
* At this level you have read more ancient tomes and owe a major boon to a Kuei-jin court(or equivalent
to whatever body provided the stolen lore)

Lore 6:
* A Kuei-jin of this level of understanding has a firm grasp on the powers that were available to
the Wan Xian. He is familiar with the reincarnation of Jin Hai into the Dhampyr. He has also heard tales
that some of the Jin Hai survived their supposed extinction. These beings would be more ancient and
powerful than any Kuei-jin alive today… or perhaps just extremely ancient mortals learned in many arts.
Who knows how history has touched these creatures.
* A Kuei-jin of this level of understanding requires a Blood boon held to the Bone Court.

44
Lore 7:
* A Kuei-jin of this refined understanding has read the most ancient tomes of his race, he has
personally memorized the words written down by Xue himself. There is no secret found in the Middle
Kingdom unknown to him, at least on Kuei-jin nature.
* A Kuei-jin of this level of understanding requires a Life Boon held by the Bone Court.
Dharmic Lore(This is a broad outline of the 10 or so dharmic lores)

Lasombra Lore:
From the Packet

Lore 1:
* You know that the primary Lasombra Disciplines are Dominate, Potence and Obtenebration, and that
Obtenebration is unique to their Clan. (LotN [Rev]: 43; VtM [Rev]: 85)
* You are aware that the Lasombra are traditionally associated with darkness, with a lust for power and
with the sea. You have heard that the Clan first originated somewhere in the Mediterranean and know
that they have had heavy ties to Italy and Rome. (CbL: 16-17; CbL [Rev]: 11-19; LotN [Rev]: 42; LS1: 13-
14; VtM [Rev]:71)
* You know that the Lasombra have heavy historic ties to the Roman Catholic Church. You know that
their oft-used nickname "Keepers" comes from the story of Cain in
Genesis. (CbL: 17; CbL [Rev]: 28-29, 41; PGttHC: 34)
* You know that the Lasombra cast no reflection in mirrors or reflective surfaces, and that their
association with darkness leaves them somehow more vulnerable to the sun and to fire. (LotN [Rev]: 43;
VtM [Rev]: 85)
* You have heard of the Clan Antediluvian, and know that it is never given a name or gender when
mentioned. You also know that the Sabbat Lasombra claim that it has been destroyed. When referring to
it, you have heard it given the titles "The Shadowed One," "The Dark Father," "The King of Shadows" or
"The Eldest". (CbL [Rev]: 16- 18; PGttHC: 33)
* You know that the Clan is often credited with the foundation of the Sabbat, and that a sizable portion of
high-ranking positions within the Sect are held by Lasombra.
* You know that the Lasombra, like many Sabbat often eschew "Human" morality, and that they have
developed within the Clan the Path of Enlightenment known as the Path of Night, which argues that it is
the place of Cainites to embrace their dark nature and to embody evil. (CbL [Rev]: 47-49)
* You know that there are some Lasombra not allied with the Sabbat known as the antitribu, who claim
allegiance to either the Camarilla or to no larger political entity.
You have heard of the Courts of Blood, a mysterious organization which provides some sort of traditional
structure through which Lasombra may seek sanctioned diablerize their Clanmates. (CbL: 40-42; CbL
[Rev]: 51-52; LS1: 15)
* You know that there exist within the Clan several factions, the most notable and deep- rooted being the
Les Amies Noir, who are the eldest and most respected members of the Clan. (CbL: 40-42, 43-47; CbL
[Rev]: 52-53; LS1: 15)

Lore 2:
* You have heard stories that the Lasombra Clan curse originates with the Christian Devil, who punished
all of the Clan of Night for their vanity in daring to call on a power darker than his own, and hence stole all
of their reflections. (LS1: 19)
* You have heard the story of Gratiano de Veronese, a Methuselah and direct childer of the Antediluvian.
You have also heard of his successful destruction of the eldest in his Castle d'Ombro in Sicily in 1483 AD,
and how he then proved instrumental in the foundation of the Sabbat. (CbL: 17-18; CotI: 38-41; CbL
[Rev]: 21-23, 38-39; PGttHC:35)
* You have heard of Montano, a Methuselah and direct Childe of the Antediluvian who remained loyal to
his Sire up until it's death. You know that he escaped Gratiano's raid in Sicily, and that he now counts

46
himself now among the antitribu, still claiming to act in the Eldest's best interests. (CbL: 17-18; CbL [Rev]:
38-39; PGttHC: 35)
* You have heard of Cardinal MonÇada, the chief proponent of the darkly religious ideology espoused by
the Path of Righteous Night and formerly one of the most esteemed Arch-Bishops in the history of the
Sect, owing to his contributions to its foundation, and his instrumental role in the Age of Exploration. You
know that he has recently met his final death and that his haven is now a site of pilgrimage for many of
the devout. You have also heard of Lucita, his infamous antitribu childe who is wanted for his destruction.
(CbL: 20, 66-67; CbL [Rev]: 96-97)
* You know about a lot of the early migratory shifts in Lasombra culture, and are familiar with the
dispersal of many of the Clan's Methuselah's following the volcanic eruption on the isle of Thera in 1627
BC You have heard that this event coincided with the appearance of Lasombra in Africa and interior Asia.
You also know that a similar diaspora occurred around 69 AD, following the eradication of Mediterranean
piracy by Pompey. You have even heard fanciful legends of older exoduses, tying the Lasombra to the
mythical figure of Aeneas in his flight from Dido's Carthage. (CbL [Rev]: 19; LS1: 19; PGttHC: 34)
* You know that Lasombra, due to their affinity for water, often traveled in the company of pirates, raiders
and explorers and furthermore that the "Eldest" is universally agreed to have come from the
Mediterranean region in life. You have heard legends of sea-dwelling peoples who prayed to Laza Omri
Baras (The God of the River of Darkness) and mentions of the name Lau-Som-Bheu cropping up in
classical Thebes. You also know that there is a number of Lasombra dwelling in Asia which seems
uncharacteristic for Western vampires, particularly in China. (CbL [Rev]: 17-19, 30-32; PGttHC: 33-34)
* You know that the Lasombra were heavily enamored with Christianity in its nascent stages and have
heard that Montano was an active proponent of it's spread through Rome. (CbL: 17; PGttHC: 34)
* You know that the Clan often takes credit for early myths regarding Gods of darkness, such as Ahriman,
Artemis, Ereshkigal, Hina, Inguma and Tezcatlipoca. You have also heard of the settlement of Catal
Huyak (the earliest known site of human civilization), and know that it had many statues of a black
volcanic Goddess figure, which some attribute to Lasombra influence. (CbL [Rev]: 11-16)
* You are aware of the heavy Lasombra influence on the Spanish Reconquista and know that members of
the Clan were involved on both the Moorish and Christian sides of the conflict, resulting in an unseen
conflict dubbed the Shadow Reconquista. (IbN: 84; LS1: 16-17; PGttHC: 35)
* You know that the method of Lasombra Embrace involves a very long period of observation and testing
of a prospective mortal. You know that the Sire of a Lasombra to be often goes to great lengths to
alienate the mortal from society, ruin various aspects of his or her life and may even go so far as killing
the candidates family or loved ones to test their reactions. (CbL [Rev]: 42-44; LS1: 23-24)
* You know that there are actually numerous branches the Path of Night and that in addition to the
common "Hot" Path there is also the Path of Cold Night, which advocates calm detachment over
indulgence and sensation, and the Path of Righteous Night, which couches the Path in Catholic religious
terms and posits that vampires ultimately serve a religious function in challenging those who are
genuinely pure by acting as demons of wickedness. (CbL [Rev]: 67-69)
* You know that a Court of Blood is a formal gathering of anywhere from three to thirteen members of Les
Amies Noir, who meet in complete darkness to hear cases. You further know that any Lasombra of any
rank or age may appeal to a Court of Blood to demand the right to destroy a Clanmate whom he/she feels
has wronged him/her. You know that only the Les Amies Noir (also Brether Nokw, Amici Nocti or Friends
of the Night) may serve on a Court of Blood, and that most Lasombra who survive for a century or so are
likely to be asked to join and serve. (CbL: 40-42, 43-47; CbL [Rev]: 51-53; IbN: 85-86; LS1: 15)
* You know of some of the informal factions within the Clan, such as: The Crusaders, who support the
Ultra-Conservative faction within the Sabbat and believe that the Sect should focus foremost on the war
with the elders; the Faithful, who often follow the Path of Righteous Night and believe that vampires are a
portion of God's great plan; and the Kings and Queens of Shadows, who deal heavily with mortal
contacts. (CbL: 65- 66; CbL [Rev]: 47-49)

47
* You know that the Sabbat Lasombra embarked on a massive campaign to wipe out the major
collections of Lasombra antitribu from Spain in the 15th century and that very few antitribu survive in the
modern nights. (CbL: 22-23)
* You know that approximately two thirds of the Lasombra antitribu who have survived, claim alliance with
the Camarilla, and that the majority of these do not focus their efforts on the war with their Sabbat
counterparts. You have heard, however, of a faction known as the "Distinguished" who dedicate
themselves to anti-Sabbat war efforts, usually through means of influence and subtlety rather than direct
combat. (CbL [Rev]: 55-56)
* You have heard the phrase "Morte Ascendo" (I rise through death.), and know that it was once held as
the motto of Clan Lasombra. (LS1: 1)

Lore 3:
* You know much of Gratiano's personal history, namely that he was originally a 12th Century Italian
nobleman and that he caught the Antediluvian's attention through attempting to orchestrate an partial
overthrow of German authority over Northern Italy, and that it was only after he was imprisoned and
tortured that he consented to the Embrace.(CbL: 18; CbL [Rev]: 21-23; CotI: 38-41; PGttHC: 35)
* You know much of Montano's personal history, namely that he was originally a young boy in the region
of modern day Ethiopia or Kenya in approximately 4,000 B.C. You have heard stories that he made a pact
with the Eldest, agreeing that he would be Embraced if the creature would stop tormenting his people.
(CbL [Rev]: 21-23, 38-39; PGttHC: 35L)
* You have heard of the "Victory Corps" employed by the Eldest during the years before his death and
that Gratiano and Montano both held high positions in them. (CotI: 38-41)
* You know that the Lasombra in China went through several periods of isolation from their Western
brethren, and that while they are not a separate bloodline by any stretch of the imagination, they are
noted to be "peculiar" in their outlook. You are aware that Chinese Lasombra were allegedly heavy
proponents of Confucianism. (CbL [Rev]: 30-32)
* You know the sea-loving Lasombra were heavily involved in the conquest of the Americas, and that the
destruction of the Aztec civilization was one of the few historical events which the Clan actively helped to
bring to fruition. (CbL [Rev]: 26-27)
* You have heard that Lasombra clergy were an important part of the initiative to Christianize the Vikings
in the 9th century. (WotS: 26-27)
* You are aware of the existence of Abyss occultism, a course of study which seeks to explore the source
from which the shadowy art of Obtenebration draws its power. You know that some Lasombra (called The
Abyss' Children) actively seek to explore further the realms they claim are opened to them by the
Lasombra signature discipline. (CbL [Rev]: 48, 63, 72-73)
* You have heard of the Black Angels or Angelis Ater, a faction stemming from a medieval group of
wanton antagonizers and infernalists who claim to be agents of the devil and hence enact violence and
depredation without law or reason. You know that the Angellis believe that Obtenebration is an art
stemming from Lucifer himself, and that all Lasombra are inherently linked to hell. (CbL [Rev]: 48-50; LS1:
22-23)
* You are intimately familiar with all of the variants of the Path of Night, including the more obscure Path
of Allied Night, which argues a collective Lasombra oneness in the Abyss and is often favored by
occultists and Abyss mystics; and the Path of Lightless Night, a rare and esoteric Path which focuses on
total immersion in actual physical darkness. (CbL [Rev]: 67-69)
* You have an idea as to what the initiation into the Les Amies Noir entails, and have heard that it involves
a full fortnight of isolation in a state of sensory deprivation. You further know all of the necessary etiquette
to present a case before a Court of Blood, and what to say or not say should you make a petition. Lastly,

48
you are able to identify at least one of the Les Amies Noir in your region. (CbL [Rev]: 51; IbN: 85-86; LS1:
15, 24)
* You know of some of the less popular or immediately visible factions within the Clan, such as: the
"Corsairs," who take to sea- faring unlives as pirates or explorers; the "Transhumanists," who claim that
Cainites should constantly seek to evolve and expand themselves, and who often prove close bedfellows
with the Tzimisce as a result of their shared interests; the "Fatalists," who believe that their position in
society is immovable, and that more powerful elders with always have control in spite of the Sabbat's best
efforts; and the "Doomed," who refuse to acknowledge any Masquerade by openly and sometimes
suicidally flaunting their vampiric nature. (CbL [Rev]: 48-50)
* You have heard of the enigmatic Kiasyd, as Bloodline of strange seldom-seen scholars who have a
nominal alliance with the Sabbat. You know that the Lasombra have some connection to them. (LS1: 28-
289)
* You know that some Lasombra antitribu, rather than holding to the Camarilla, believe themselves to be
agents of the Antediluvian itself, and claim that the Eldest still live. These "Radicals" are often extremely
inhumane and brutal and claim no Sect alliance. (CbL [Rev]: 56)
* You are aware that the Lasombra have been credited with Embracing such historical figures as Don
Alonso Pérez de Guzmán el Bueno, Duke of Medina Sidonia. (CbL: 65-66)
* You have at least heard, in passing, of famous Lasombra such as: Giangaleazzo, the "Traitor Prince of
Milan", who originally claimed the city as Bishop but later defected to the Camarilla in 1997; and
Francisco Domingo de Polonia, a former Cardinal of the New York Sabbat, who has recently been killed
and investigated on accusations of infernalism (UnMasqued canon only). (CotN: 23-24, 63-64)

Lore 4:
* You know a little more about Gratiano's machinations to destroy the Eldest, and that he sough to create
an atmosphere of paranoia by having prisoners with layers upon layers of false memory implanted in
them by Assamite allies to indicate that Montano was an Anarch sympathizer. (CotI: 38-41)
* You know that Montano was born to the Masai near Kilimanjaro, and that his original name was Ontai.
You know that he was, in fact, selected from a young age to be an apprentice to the "pale visitor" and that
it was only after the threat of his people's destruction that he swore loyalty to the Eldest. You know that
even now, Montano still considers himself under oath to the Lasombra Antediluvian, and that his current
actions to this night are informed by what he considers his master's best interests. (CotI: 46-49)
* You know that before the foundation of the Sabbat, consent was an imperative part of any Lasombra
Embrace, and that the majority of the Clan found the idea of Embracing an unwilling mortal completely
abhorrent. You are painfully aware that the marital realities of the modern clan have caused this tenant to
fall out of practice, although some elders and most antitribu still hold to it. (LS1: 23-24)
* You know have heard some Lasombra historians attempt to claim credit for the Hyksos-controlled
Dynasties of Egypt, although the majority of Setite scholars will dispute this vehemently. (PGttHC: 33)
* You know that the Lasombra entanglement in the Reconquista led to a great deal of veneration for
Rodrigo Dìaz de Vivar (El Cid), and have heard rumors that he was offered the Embrace. You are aware
of the bygone tradition in medieval Spain for Christian Lasombra to keep vigil over the bones of Rodrigo
Dìaz de Vivar (El Cid) at their resting place in Burgos Cathedral near Valencia. You also know that the
politics of the Shadow Reconquista briefly caused a phenomenon in which the Les Amies Noir (called the
Amici Nocti at the time) essentially split into two separate bodies in the region, with the Moorish Lasombra
taking council from the Asdiqa' Al-Lail (IbN: 84-86; LS1: 17)
* You know that the reason for the Lasombra backed destruction of the Aztecs was that they hoped that
by ceasing blood sacrifices to the Aztec god Huitzilopochtli, they might actually prevent the sun from ever
rising again. (CbL [Rev]: 27)

49
* You know that a group of sea-faring Lasombra have seized a Soviet Kilo-class sub from Iran known as
The Black Fang, and that they now conduct raids on Camarilla-based shipping from it. You have even
heard that the Les Amies Noir have even granted them permission to kill fellow Clanmates who interfere
with their operations. (CbL [Rev]: 59)
* You have heard some rumor of Lasombra mystics being able to summon creatures from the Abyss, or
being able to physically travel into some sort of Abyssal realm. You have even heard rumors that such
powers were incidental in MonÇada's destruction and have heard whispers that the art of Obtenebration
in some way links to the world of ghosts and the restless dead. (CbL: 35; CbL [Rev]: 73, 96)
* You know that amongst the upper levels of the Les Amies Noir, Sect has become less of a concern and
you have even heard of antitribu who serve upon or who invoke Courts of Blood. You are also able to
identify a sizable portion of Les Amies Noir in your region. (CbL [Rev]: 53)
* You know that the Kiasyd are a Lasombra bloodline and are aware that they were created through some
manner of experimentation involving both the fae and the Abyss. You know that the Kiasyd are
consummate scholars and that there have apparently been some interactions with their parent Clan
regarding the trade of information and books. (LS1: 28-29)
* You have heard of Zarathustra, an ancient Lasombra who inhabits and watches over Antioch and who
has largely remained distant from the tumult of Clan politics. You do not know if he bears any relation to
the legendary Zoroaster from whom he takes his name. (CbL [Rev]: 97)
* You've heard of some of the fairly obscure Lasombra of note, such as Alfonso Lopez, an infamous
antitribu who escaped the purges of the 15th century; Black Wallace, one of the more feared Inquisitors
since the late 18th century; Leila Monroe, a hopeful self-declared Priscus who has been struggling to tip
the balance of Los Angeles in favor of the Sabbat; and Lisette Visquel, an extremely young initiate into
the Les Amies Noir who was placed in charge of a series of raids in Miami and the Florida keys. (CbL: 67-
68; CotN: 18-20, 26-27)

Lore 5:
* You have heard several theories as to why the Eldest let Gratiano destroy him, and some suspicions of
your own. You might even have an inkling that Gratiano was not 100% successful.
* You have heard old legends that claim Montano coerced a Ravnos into creating an illusion of the Chi Ro
over one of Constantine's battlefields, in the hopes of deliberately pushing the Roman Empire toward
Christianity. (CbL: 16; LS1: 38-39)
* You have heard that the Lasombra, particularly those affiliated with the ancient goddess Ereshkigal,
were at one point instrumental in the destruction of the infernal Cainites known as the Baali and the
binding of their Dark Gods forever beneath the earth in one of their ancient cities. You have further heard
that the powers they summoned from the Abyss to achieve this, are far beyond the kenning of any Cainite
that still walks the earth. (CbBaali: 19)
* You know that the Kiasyd were first engendered when a triad of Lasombra obtained an alchemical
potion which purported to be the blood of Zeernebooch (a Teutonic God of the Underworld) and mixed
with it the blood of a true fae. You know that the potion, once imbibed, transformed one of them, known
only as Marconius, into a strange creature, altering his physical makeup and granting him strange
powers. While legend has it that Marconius was abandoned after the change, it was later found that he
and his progeny later resurface around the 12th century in Strasbourg, and have had occasional relations
with the
* Lasombra and the Sabbat ever since. You further know that the Kiasyd have strange powers from the
fae blood they are imbued with and possess a strange Discipline known as Mythreceria. (LS1: 28-29)
* You know who is among the Les Amies Noir and who is not. Period.

Malkavian Lore:
From the Packet

Lore 1:
* You might know that the primary Malkavian Disciplines are Auspex, Dementation, and Obfuscate, and
that Dementation is unique to their Clan. You have heard, however, that some Malkavians possess
Dominate as a Discipline, and know that until recently it was only the Malkavian Antitribu in the Sabbat
who practiced Dementation. (LotN [Rev]: 33; VtM [Rev]: 73) l
* You might know that all Malkavians are permanently and incurably insane. You may know that this
insanity, however, is also said to provide insight and premonitions. You might also know that most
Malkavians do not consider themselves to be insane, but “enlightened”. (LotN [Rev]: 32-33; VtM [Rev]:
73)
* You might know that Maris Streck is the current Malkavian Justicar of the Camarilla. (CotN: 43-44)
* You might know that Lucian, the previous Malkavian Justicar of the Camarilla, is now the Prince of the
North Aegean Islands. (OWbN) 1 2 You might know that the blood of a Malkavian carries some of their
curse and that ghouls and thralls of Malkavians often display some form of mental instability. (CbM [Rev]:
64-65)

Lore 2:
* You might know that Malkavians traditionally engage in the practice of “pranking”, in which they play
elaborate jokes on others. You know that not all of these pranks are particularly funny. (CbM [Rev]: 43)
* You might be aware that Malkavians have some rudimentary mechanic by which they can mysteriously
gather seemingly without having communicated beforehand. (LotN [Rev]: 33; CbM [Rev]: 41-42, 58-59)
* You might know that Malkavians tradition of “pranking” is intended to demonstrate to others the
absurdity of the universe and/or to shatter their perceptions of it, in the hopes that they might come to a
more enlightened view. (CbM [Rev]: 43-44)
* You might have heard of the Malkavian Madness Network (Also known as the Cobweb, the Tapestry,
the Greater Dreaming, the Weavery, Metatron, et cetera). You know that it is a sort of rudimentary
psychic hive mind that connects all members of the Clan together, although it is not really organized,
definite or predictable in any way. (CbM [Rev]: 41-42, 58-59)
* You might be familiar with the Reality Buster movement, which seeks to disrupt conventional perception.
The general modus operandi of the group is to employ Disciplines to evoke all manner of hallucinations,
delusions, and other sensations not in accordance with accepted “reality”. (CbM [Rev]: 38)
* You might know that at some point in history all Malkavians practiced Dementation and that in 1997 it
was somehow spread from the antitribu back to the rest of the Clan, who apparently forwent its use at the
time of the Treaty of Thorns. You suspect that the Network might have played a role in this process of “re-
infection”. (CbM [Rev]: 27-29, 34)
* You might have heard that some Malkavians claim an indescribable sensation known as The Calling
leads Malkavians toward their childer. You have also heard that the type of madness that plagues a
Malkavian is sometimes seemingly passed onto those whom they Embrace, and that broods of Malkavian
childer tend to share similar insanities or sometimes even mass delusions. (PGttLC: 137; LS4: 87)
* You might know that historically the Clan is said to have strong ties to the region of Greece and
Mesopotamia.

51
* You might know that the Malkavians were allied with Ventrue Rome during the Punic Wars and that the
Clan incited and aided in the destruction of Brujah Carthage. (CbM [Rev]: 20-21; PGttLC: 37-39)
* You might have heard of the Malkavian progenitor, Malkav, and know that he was reputed to be a great
seer or prophet. (LotN [Rev]: 33; CbM: 17; CbM [Rev]: 12-13)
* You might have heard of “The Gnawed;” Malkavians who do not successfully make it through the
Embrace and are rendered comatose or nonfunctional through insanity. (CbM [Rev]: 39-40)

Lore 3:
* You might know some parables common to Clan Malkavian such as “The Fable of Clever Grandsons”,
in which Malkav pleases Caine through a sacrifice of his ego, and “The Blind Bats and the Elephant”
which is supposed to illustrate the Malkavian understanding of objective reality. (CbM: 19, 33)
* You might be familiar (or at least as familiar as you can be) with the bizarre cosmological constructs that
underpin the sentiments of the Reality Busters. You know that it is claimed that empirical reality has been
cut off from the infinite possibility of true reality, due to various godlike creatures destroying their
connection to the rest of the universe, and therefore disrupting the flow of potential which powers magical
phenomena. You know that it is the aim of the Reality Busters to restore this connection as fully as they
are able, and that there are frequent claims that the Fae also attempt to serve a similar function. (CbM:
17)
* You might be aware that after joining the Camarilla, the Elders of Clan Malkavian saw fit to “dampen”
the violence of their innate Discipline and chose to adopt Dominate in place of Dementation. You have
heard that through some sort of manipulation of the Network, the Sabbat Malkavians managed to
“reinfect” the main Clan with it in 1997. (CbM [Rev]: 27-29, 34)
* You might have heard that each Clan's traditional “coat of arms” was originally created by a mute
Malkavian child named Pelinka during the Middle Ages. (CbM [Rev]: 27)
* You might’ve heard that the Malkavians once had strong roots in the Christian tradition, and that certain
heretical and widely dismissed claims have been made that the Clan had some sort of direct connection
to the personage of Jesus of Nazareth. (LS4: 95-100).
* You might be aware that the Malkavians have been credited with embracing such historical figures as:
Olympias, Sennacherib, and the personage behind the Roman goddess Cybele. (CbM [Rev]: 19; KmW:
81- 83)
* You might have heard that Rasputin was a Malkavian, although this is disputed by other Clans. (CbM:
60- 61)
* You might’ve heard rumors that the “Gnawed” are often taken to the lairs of the Clan elders who can no
longer subsist on simple human vitae, although you have no means of verifying this. (CbM [Rev]: 39-40,
52)
* You might’ve heard of the Malkavian Orders of Mystery, most notably the Ordo Aenigmatis, which seeks
to understand Malkavian madness through riddles and symbolic enigmas, and the Ordo Ecstasis, which
seeks ecstatic experience as a means of enlightenment. You know that these mystery cults are, as a rule,
never spoken of outside of the Clan. (LS4: 89; PGttLC: 219)
* You might have heard of the “Language of Babel”, an argot of Malkavian origin consisting of codes and
symbols allegedly only decipherable to their Clanmates. You might also hear that it is no longer in wide
use, though there are rumors of Malkavians who are researching this ancient art. (LS4: 93, 112; PGttLC:
38, 82, OWbN)
* You might have at least heard, in passing, of famous Malkavians such as: Anatole, the legendary
prophet of Gehenna; Fabriza Contreraz, the influential Archbishop of Miami; Dr. Douglas Netchurch, the
famous Kindred hematologist; and Alessio Rinaldi, the “Peacock” Prince of Ravenna. (CbM [Rev]: 96-100;
CotN: 28- 30)

52
* You might have heard of the Eater, a being of Malkavian origin that apparently is capable of devouring
the names of things and people, removing them from collective memory as a result. (CbM: 26; CbM [Rev]:
17; PGttLC: 37)
* You might have heard of Jane Pennington and the Ankou, two figures who seem to be connected to
Clan Malkavian, but would be better called “apparitions” than Kindred. You know that “Crazy Jane” is said
to appear in visions to young neonates in the throes of the Embrace and to assist in their transition (some
have linked her mannerisms to those of the Plague-Bride, and consider her a modern incarnation of the
Methuselah). You know that the Ankou is a horrific figure that resembles the Grim Reaper and is said to
leave a trail of dead Malkavians in its wake. (CbM: 8-10, 63; CbM [Rev]: 19, 100)
* You might have heard the legend that Malkav was a notorious liar, and that through his deception of the
other Antediluvians he nearly caused the death of Zillah, Caine's beloved. You have heard that Caine, in
a rage, cursed him and his line, telling him that he should have an infinite number of “truths” to utter
thereafter. (PGttLC: 37)
* You might be familiar with various theories regarding the Malkavian Madness Network, including that it
is the Antediluvian's method of spying upon all of his children. You also have probably heard some of the
debate as to whether or not Malkavian-sired Caitiff can experience the Network. (CbM [Rev]: 42, 58-59)

Lore 4:
* You might have learned that some elders of the Clan claim that Malkavians are behind a
disproportionate amount of the baalim, or city-gods, of the Sumerian, Babylonian, and Akkadian
civilizations, and that it is claimed that similar practices amongst other Clans were done in imitation of this
phenomenon. (PGttLC: 37-39)
* You might have at least heard, in passing, of legendary Malkavians such as: the Dionysian, an ancient
Greek Kindred with ties to the Bacchic cults of old and allegedly to the Fae; Unmada and his childe
Vasantasena, two Indian Malkavians who were instrumental at the Convention of Thorns and in the
foundation of the two Sects; and Tryphosa the Sybil, whose prophecies directly incited Rome to attack
Carthage. (CbM: 18- 19, 61-62; CbM [Rev]: 1921, 26, 98-99; CotI: 29-33; PGttLC: 38)
* You might have heard that Malkav's influence in the area of Jerusalem has helped to augment its
religious mystique, and that such incidents as the seemingly mindless butchery of the First Crusade, or
the prevalence of Jerusalem Syndrome have been linked to the Antediluvian by Malkavian scholars.
(FoBC: 5- 7; 27-28)
* You might have heard the various historical arguments as to whether Malkav was descended from
Ynosh, Irad or Zillah, and are aware of legends from around the region of Nineveh that allude to one of
the Second Generation beating its childe for either saying or refusing to say something of import. You
have furthermore heard that Malkav was one of the more active participants in the diablerie of the Second
Generation. (CbM [Rev]: 13)
* You might have heard of Nissiku (also known as the Clever Prince), and know that he was an ancient
Malkavian from the region of Mesopotamia. You have heard that the Babylonian god Ea, or Enki is
sometimes given the epithet of nissiku, meaning “far-sighted”, and that rumors apparently endure that
Nissiku is also related to the Lakota spider-God Iktomi, the anonymous prankster “Malk Content”, and
various other identities including: the Devil Hanse, the Fool-Eater, and Old Man Hate. (CbM: 64; CbM
[Rev]: 16-17; PGttLC: 37 )
* You might have heard of two nearly unknown and utterly minuscule bloodlines of Clan Malkavian: The
Mnemosyne and the Jocastatians. You know that both groups are said to specialize in Noddist
scholarship and to practice ritual diablerie, but you know little else. (CtB: 47)
* You might have heard of Elmolech, a demon bound into a human body by a gathering of Malkavians
after it had tried to possess the body of Geneviève of Limoge, an elder of the Clan. You know that

53
Elmolech has hence been cursed to wander the earth eternally, and that several Malkavians claim to
have had brushes with it. (CbM [Rev]: 22)
* You might have heard of Adonijah, the Biblical son of David who allegedly had (and has) some manner
of relation to Clan Malkavian and its founder. You have heard all manner of contradictory rumors about
this individual, but know that he is said to still be wandering the earth - albeit not as a Cainite. You have
heard that he was entrusted with something extraordinarily precious. (FoBC: 23-25)
* You might know that Camilla Banes was the Malkavian representative amongst the founding members
of the Camarilla, and that she was the first Malkavian Justicar. (GC1: 51-61; GC2 17-20; GC3 15-16)
* You might have heard of the Plague-Bride, an ancient Methuselah who was said to have been Malkav's
consort, and who is said to still walk the earth and spread infection and madness where she goes. (CbM
[Rev]: 15-16; PGttLC: 37)
* You might be aware that the Malkavian Discipline shift was not, in reality, a matter of choice, and that a
massive conclave of Malkavians was held in the city of Domazlice, where six Methuselahs (Ademar, the
Black Hag, the Dionysian, the Plague-Bride, Tryphosa, and Unmada) caused a “block” to be placed in the
minds of their brethren, psychically shutting them off from the powers of Dementation. You are aware that
people in the know about this “prank” historically regard the Camarilla Malkavians as the technical
antitribu of the Clan. You further know that, in spite of propaganda to the contrary, it is unlikely that
Sabbat Malkavians were the true cause behind the “reawakening” in 1997. (CbM [Rev]: 27-30, 34)
* You might know that some truly believed that the “Language of Babel” was, in fact, related to the biblical
myth of its name, and that at the time that the tower of Babel fell, Duma, the archangel of silence,
descended upon the earth and blessed seventy-seven members of the Clan such as that they would
remember the first tongue. (LS4: 93, 112; PGttLC: 38)
* You might’ve heard of some of the fairly obscure Malkavians of note, such as Lamdiel, a famous
prophet of Jerusalem, and “Le' Enfant Perdu,” the former Prince of Antwerp. (CbM [Rev]: 19; LS4: 94)

Lore 5:
* You might have heard that Malkav's Sire is disputed, but that he is often attributed as being the brother
of Set and Saulot (the Setite and Salubri Antediluvians). You further know that Malkav was apparently
physically ripped to shreds during the battles that destroyed the Second Generation, and that his childer
at the time were said to have collected his body and drunk of his scattered blood. Others claim that this is
false, and that he left the Second City intact and travelled to the region of Petra or Jerusalem, where he is
still said to slumber today. (CbM: 18; CbM [Rev]: 15, 17-18; FoBC: 5-7)
* You might know that the Plague-Bride, the Clever Prince and the “Eater” were held in archaic times as
being the three foremost of the childer of Malkav, or the Coronati; and that they are said to be the three
who first drank the blood of the sundered Malkav, eating the red clay of the earth wherever his blood had
been spilled. (PGttLC: 37)
* You might have heard in Jerusalem in the late 12th century, the waterways and fountains of the area
were said to have turned red with blood and that many elder Cainites report having had strange and
terrible dreams at the time. You may have also heard scant reports that it was during this time that
something was discovered beneath the city, and have heard rumors to the effect that Malkav was active
at this point in history. (FoBC: 19; 27-28)
* You might have heard that the pure blood of Malkav is said to have miraculous qualities, and that
imbibing it can heal the injured and mad, even to the point where it may turn back wassail. (FoBC: 25, 32)
* You might know that Camilla Banes was alleged to have been involved in some way with the
Antediluvian of the “Clan of Death” (GC2 17-20; GC3 15-16) and that she is the current Malkavian Inner
Circle Member.
* You might be familiar with the Mnemosyne, and are aware that they possibly can claim some manner of
connection with the Dionysian. You know that their interest in scholarship has some manner of mystic

54
compulsion to it, and that they have a seeming rivalry with the Jocastatians. You have heard of Aristotle
de Laurent, who is amongst the most prominent of their line and works with various Camarilla notables on
issues of research. (CtB: 47; EV: 202; Nod: 6)
* You might be familiar with the Jocastatians, and are aware that they do, in fact, practice ritual diablerie
upon their elders as a means of obtaining knowledge (not entirely dissimilar from acts ascribed to the
Salubri). You know that several Jocastatians claim membership in the Sabbat. (CtB: 47; Nod: 182-183)
* You might be aware that in 2015, new ripples of madness swept through the Clan, resulting in the
creation of two new bloodlines: The Tryphosans, who are all seers of some variety; and The Ravenous, a
truly bestial Antitribu bloodline. (Malk Packet)
* You might be aware of the contents of the legendary dialogue between Caine and Malkav in which
Malkav sought to redeem him, and you know that key to the argument was Caine's refusal to answer the
question “Why?” when it was posed to him by Malkav - presumably in relation to his motivation for killing
Abel. (LS4: 100; 117)
* You might have heard legends relating that prior to Malkav's rending he was visited by an angel or
angels of the Lord, who imparted unto him certain revelations that were meant to secure Caine's
repentance, and that he then approached Caine and spoke to him. Caine, in rage, was said to have
struck him down for this attempt and to have then cursed his descendants with insanity. (LS4: 101, 117)
* You might know that one of Malkav's childer, similar in power to the Coronati, was diablerized beneath
Jerusalem, and that the Antediluvian was on the verge of potentially waking in 1197 AD as a result. You
have heard that Malkav himself does not lie beneath the city, but rather that the riddle to his final resting
place is somehow related to the Latin phrase “Et in Arcadia Ego,” made famous by the painting 'Les
Bergers d'Arcadie' by Nicholas Poussin - a notable puzzle piece in many conspiracy theories. You can
suspect that this clue might be related to the occasional brushes the Clan is said to have with the Fae.
(FoBC: 27-28, 31)
* You might’ve heard of the obscure Biblia Negra, a Spanish translation of certain works set down by an
Arab author. You are aware that it is said that the text has certain startling Noddist sentiments to it
regarding the intentions of sixty seven beings of great power that sleep beneath the earth. You are aware
that the original translator was a Malkavian, and that all known owners of the text have succumbed to
some form of insanity or paranoia. (LS4: 95)
* You might have heard stories of some Malkavians who have managed to transcend their bodies and
“upload” themselves onto the Network somehow. Although you have no idea how this is possible, you
know it would account for stories regarding the Plague-Bride, Crazy Jane, and the Ankou. (CbM: 8-10, 63;
CbM [Rev]: 64, 100)

Lore 6:
Even if you are not a member of one of the Orders of Mystery, you might know of the rough ranks of
progression through one of these groups. You know that the each order is led by a deacon, a Malkavian
who claims to have been present at Malkav's original “rending”, and that the majority of each order is
made up of mystai who graduate from the entrant's rank of initiate after a year of study. You also have a
fair amount of familiarity with the litany and practices of both the Ordo Aenigmatis and Ordo Ecstasis, and
you've heard tell of the (hopefully) now defunct third order, the infernalist Ordo Maleficus. (LS4: 95-100;
PGttLC: 219)
* You might have heard that Camilla Banes had contact with the Antediluvian Cappadocius and that
certain prophecies she made about him have proved eerily accurate. (GC4: 97) (GC2 17-20; GC3 15-16)
* You might have heard a story, Bahari in origin, that Malkav and Arikel (the Toreador Antediluvian) were
the children of Lilith, and that they had a third sibling named Nahema, a woman called the Dark Muse or
the Demon Queen of Madness. You have heard that after the deaths of these three, Nahema was said to

55
still speak to the blood of her siblings, and that it may be her whispers that actually transmit the Madness
Network. (CtB: 64)
* You might have heard some versions of the story of Malkav, in which he is driven mad after either
sleeping with Lilith or after having her unveil to him certain forbidden “truths”. You know that in these
myths that feature Lilith, Malkav is said to have infected Set and Saulot with his madness as they tried to
comfort him. (CbM [Rev]: 13; CtB: 47; PGttLC: 37)
* You might have heard that the Malkavian Madness Network is not just the device of Malkav or a part of
the Clan curse but rather that it is Malkav himself, who exists now in shards throughout the minds of all
his progeny. You might have heard that the Coronati, by devouring Malkav's blood, allowed him to exist in
them and in all they Embraced. You might have read that they are said to never meet, such as that should
something attempt to kill them, all of the original fragments of Malkav will not fall at once. (CbM [Rev]: 12-
13, 42, 58-59; PGttLC: 37) 6+ 8+ You might be aware of the ritual diablerie practiced by (presumably) all
three of the Ordos in the event that initiates prove themselves unworthy. You also have made some
connections between the three Coronati and the three orders of Madness. (LS4: 95-100; PGttLC: 219)
* You might’ve heard of the Book of Andreas, a lost religious text that makes the claim that Christ had a
Cainite disciple in his company - a Malkavian named Andreas who was exhorted to seek Caine out and
beg forgiveness, and thereby achieve redemption before God. You have heard that this scripture formed
the basis for a highly heretical military-religious sect known as the Brotherhood of the Crooked Cross,
which claimed to worship the divine trinity in the form of Caine the Father, Christ the Son, and Malkav the
holy ghost. (LS4: 89, 93; PGttLC: 39)
* You might have heard the parable regarding Malkav, Set and Saulot. In this story, Saulot goes on a
journey to settle an argument between Set and Malkav over the origin of truth. Gifts are exchanged
between the brothers. Saulot gives Set his sword, and in return is given Set's staff. To Malkav, he gives
his crown, but Malkav, having nothing to give in return, bites his thumb and draws an eye on Saulot's
forehead, hence giving the Salubri their characteristic third eye. (CbM [Rev]: 15)
* You might be aware of Tremere's diablerie of Saulot, and perhaps that Clan Malkavian nearly joined in
the War of Omens along with the Gangrel and Tzimisce to destroy the Usurpers on account of the
Malkavian kinship to the Salubri. (CbM [Rev]: 23-24; LS4: 100)

Ravnos Lore:
From the Packet

Lore 1:
* You know that the primary Ravnos Disciplines are Animalism, Chimerstry, and Fortitude. Chimerstry is
unique to their Clan and is used to create illusions.
* You know that Ravnos are traditionally prone to thievery and vice, to the point where such actions have
become innately compulsive and are not to be trusted.
* You know that the Ravnos do not ally themselves as a whole with any sect in Vampire society. They are
wanderers, much like the Gangrel.
* You are familiar with the Karavalanisha Vrana (Wounds of the Night's Sword), an ancient Indian epic
regarding the history of the Ravnos Clan.
* You know that the Clan's Antediluvian is either: A) according to Noddist traditions, a man named
Dracian; B) according to Karavalanisha Vrana, a creature known as Zapathasura, who was charged by
the gods with hunting down a race of demonic entities; or C) according to some folklore, a Rroma named
Ravnos.
* You know that the Clan has strong ties with India and with the Rroma (Gypsies) and that several lines of
Ravnos were entirely Rroma descended.
* You know that many Indian Ravnos follow the Path of Paradox, a Path of Enlightenment which
espouses loyalty to one’s jati, or caste, and fulfillment of Svadharma, or purpose.
* You know that during 2001, a disaster known as the Week of Nightmares struck
the entire Clan, causing the Ravnos to frenzy and devour each other, except for a bunch of survivors. You
know that many claim it was sparked by the rising of the Ravnos Antediluvian.
* You know if you shut the Ravnos out of a city, they will return in greater numbers and trash it.

Lore 2:
* You have heard that in Noddist mythology, Dracian was Embraced by Irad, a member of the Second
Generation, when he was caught stealing from his home. After the fall of the Second City, it is said that
Caine cursed him with an insatiable need to sin.
* You have heard that in the Karavalanisha Vrana, Zapathasura was a dead man wronged by great
demonic beings known as the asuratizayya. You heard about the Gods granting Zapathasura immortality
and power for him to pursue them to the ends of the Earth.
* You have heard that in the Story of Ravnos, Ravnos was the son of Tshurka, a wandering Rroma who
took Caine (called Kaen in the legends) into his kumpaniya as an act of kindness after they had both left
Cainite society. Kaen later Embraced Ravnos after Tshurka was killed by wandering Cainites, and he in
turn Embraced many of his kumpaniya.
* You know that in every legend of the Ravnos progenitor, he is said to have made an eternal enemy of
Ennoia, the Gangrel Antediluvian.
* You know that the Path of Paradox focuses on attaining understanding of the Maya, the grand illusion of
life. It claims that all Kindred are locked eternally outside of the cycle of life and death (Samsara), and
hence must realign their purpose in life according to their jati and Svadharma (their True Purpose). You
know the term Shilmulo refers to adherents of this Path.
* You know that the Rroma-descended Ravnos practiced a bastardized version of the Path of Paradox,
which espoused debauchery and general mayhem, and that Indian elders have, in recent nights, made
attempts to revive the old Path.

65
* You are familiar with the basic jati (or castes) of the Indian Shilmulo.
* You know that it was the European Rroma- descended Ravnos who were hit hardest by the Week of
Nightmares, possibly because they had a tendency to travel in kumpaniya.
* You are familiar with the Medieval tradition of "The Treatment", in which mobs of Ravnos gang up on a
Domain that has been unkind to them and attempt to spread chaos therein.
* You have heard of legendary Ravnos such as Durga Syn, an ancient Methuselah who has an ongoing
feud with the Nosferatu Baba Yaga, and whose brood was one of the only notable European groups to
survive the Week of Nightmares.
* You know that honor between Ravnos and freedom are both highly valued.
* You know of the Right to Challenge when your honor is questioned.
* You probably know a handful of Ravnos related Rom words, such as: Kumpaniya, Gaje, Phralmulo,
Kris, etc.
* You know that the groups the Gypsy Ravnos travel in are led by a Baro. You know the local Baro, if
there is one in your area, and suspect he may be ruled by others.

Lore 3:
* You have heard that in Noddist mythology, Ennoia blamed Dracian for tempting her into slaying the
Second Generation, and that they have feuded ever since.
* You have heard that, in the Karavalanisha Vrana, the Gods both blessed and cursed Zapathasura. You
hear that Kali, goddess of war and bloodshed, gave him a thirst for vengeance; that Indra, the god of
storms and crops, gave him the gift of fertility in order to make other men to fight for him; that Hanuman,
the monkey king, gave him the power to speak to animals; that Devi, the core form of femininity, gave him
power over the Maya; and that Himuvaat, god of mountains, gave him the durability of stone. You know,
on the other hand, that other gods refused to bless him, saying he was an unclean and polluted thing -
being dead. These were Surya, the God of the Sun; Agni, the God of fire; and Brahma, the God of
Creation - who left him prone to fire and sunlight, sterile and starving.
* You have heard that in the Karavalanisha Vrana, the Asuratizayya were once known as the Siddhi,
beings who were charged with tending to and protecting humanity. According to the epic, they eventually
trafficked with the true demons, and were cast into their fallen state as punishment. You are aware, at this
point, that these myths seem to correspond with those of the Cathayans.
* You have heard that in the Karavalanisha Vrana, Ennoia once, like Zapathasura, was charged with
combating the Asuratizayya, but was cursed by the gods because she rejected them after learning the
price of her power. As a result Gangrel are thought to be forever barred from fulfilling their proper destiny.
* You have heard that in the Story of Ravnos, Ennoia was the lover of Ravnos, and the daughter of Lilith,
and that she betrayed Ravnos unto death in the hopes of being taken back into the Second City, from
which she had been exiled. In the story, Kaen returned after Ravnos' destruction and cursed Ennoia for
her treason. You have also heard mention of the figure of Laetshi, Ravnos' sister who was able to see
into the future and predict Ennoia's treachery.
* You know that the cosmology of Path of Paradox is tied in some ways to the Discipline of Chimerstry,
and that Shilmulo claims that the power is a way of altering the Maya, or the world.
* You are familiar with the five alleged childer of Zapathasura from which the major Ravnos Jati evolved.
They are: The Black Mother, an old crone from which the Brahman Jati descends; Rakshasa, the great
deceiver, who allegedly fled to Africa; Chandraputra, a great warrior from whom the Kshatriyas Jati
descends; Ravana, who apparently made pacts with demons and later disappeared; and Ramessu, from
which the Vaisya Jati descends.
* You know that the Brahman developed the Discipline of Auspex rather than Fortitude.

66
* You know that the Rroma-descended Ravnos are also known as the Phuri Dae to the Indian Ravnos,
and that they originally were said to have come from the Brahman Jati. Within the group however, they
call themselves the Phralmulo and use the term Phuri Dae to refer to those who are able to
use Auspex (unbeknownst to them, in the manner of the Brahman). The Phuri Dae also reportedly call
their Indian brethren the Brahman.
* You are familiar with the Phuri Dae tradition of the Kris, in which Rroma-born Ravnos hold communal
judgement over one another; and the tradition of Patshiv, in which Rroma-born Ravnos gather to
celebrate.
* You are aware that the Ravnos have been credited with embracing such historical figures as Mata Hari
(although this is disputed by the Assamites).
* You have heard of legendary Ravnos such as Bramaparush and Gayal, two great Ravnos elders
credited with the foundation of the Path of Paradox and for siring several of the largest broods of the Clan
in Sri Lanka and South Asia; Ivan Krenyenko, who was simultaneously hunted by the Sabbat, Camarilla,
Society of Leopold and the KGB due to his exploits; and Esmerelda, a Rroma woman (or series of
women) who is said to bear a the crescent shaped birthmark that forebodes Gehenna.
* You know the Krisnatori who keeps watch over your Kumpaniya and more or less where they are
The below knowledge is considered a killable offense if known by members of another Clan

Lore 4:
(Coordinator Approval)
* You have at some point read a copy of the Karavalanisha Vrana. You are very cognizant of the fact that
it refers to deities that did not come into existence until 4,000 years after it was alleged to be written, and
that it is probably the work of a collection of Ravnos and not the writing of Zapathasura alone, as is
claimed.
* You have heard legends of the diaspora, in which the Rakshasa, Ramessu, Ravana and the Black
Mother all left Zapathasura in turn, leaving Chandraputra as his one loyal Childe. You hear that Ravana
gained terrible power from demons at some point and returned to taunt Zapathasura. You know that the
Black Mother eventually created the lineages known as the Alexandrites and later the Sybarites, who
founded the false Path of Paradox and were both renowned as pirates and brigands. You have also heard
of the Phaedymites, a small group of honor-bound Ravnos who served as couriers during the Middle
Ages.
* You have heard of Bashir, and the heretical Christian Paradox cult he founded known as the Bashirites,
who sought to bring about the Biblical Apocalypse in the Middle Ages.
* You hear that it is possible on the true Path of Paradox for some Gangrel to reclaim their Svadharma,
and that this belief is known as "The Gangrel Heresy" among the Shilmulo.
* You have heard of the Sadhu, a scant few Ravnos Antitribu and Elder Indian Ravnos who serve as
teachers for the Path of Paradox in it's uncorrupted form. You hear that they are capable of performing
great acts of blood sorcery known as Sadhana and are to be respected and feared.
* You have heard of Ravnos Neve, Ravnos that appear to have been native to North America at the time
when Europeans first arrived.
* You have heard of the Wuzho, fanatical Phuri Dae descended from the Rroma bloodline known as the
Tsurara who vow to eradicate all the undead from the Earth.
* You have heard of some of the now mostly extinct Phuri Dae Ravnos families of Europe, including the
Spanish Gitano, the English Juna and the German Sinti.
* You know of the Kris - the Ravnos court.
* You probably believe in the Kaen's Favored Son legend, as you now have heard much more about it
* You are fully knowledgeable about the Path of Paradox, and capable of teaching it with some skill.

67
* You are familiar with many Ravnos legends, including the Hok-Kanu Baro, the Seeds of Power and
families of Vampire hunters among the Rom.
* You have heard the other two origin tales of the Ravnos and have a view on which one is correct
(depending on one's Path and background- Rom likely believes the Rom- based tale, followers of
Paradox likely believe the Indian origins, others likely still believe the Cainite version).
* You know at least one other Baro and more or less where they are.
* You've heard of most of the Ravnos (you may make a Static Mental Challenge against 7 Traits to
recognize the name of an Elder, 9 to recognize Ancillae , and 12 to recognize Neonates or those
Embraced for at least 5 years).
* There was a time very long ago when the Ravnos and some werewolves fought together to protect Rom
from harm at the hands of some corrupting force.

Lore 5:
(Coordinator Approval)
* You know that Bashir made claims to have had personal contact with Christ and that the Bashirite
movement specifically attempted to bring about the end of times by plunging the world into sufficient sin to
give cause for Christ's second coming, and as such heavily contributed to the Western bastardization of
the Path of Paradox.
* You have heard of the Yoryari, a small splinter group of the Sybarites who founded a number of now
forgotten philosophical variants on the false Path of Paradox.
* You are aware that the arts of Chimerstry can deal lethal harm to fairies.
* You may have some idea of the identity of others with as much knowledge as you.
* You know of the Samadji and the true power of the Amria.
* You recognize the signs of the passing of a Kumpaniya and can track one. You are familiar with the
general travel patterns of the major Kumpaniya.
* You understand that Phralmulo who feed on their mortal cousins absorb their power, and know of
incidents in which kindred
have slaughtered their Rom kin out of blood lust.
* You know most of the Krisnatori and many of the Baros, as well as the region they are currently in.
* You are familiar with every major decision of any Kris that has transpired.
* You know the legends of some of the artifacts of Power and possibly the region or area they might be
located.
* You know of the actual words Kaen spoke to Ravnos (or at least the summary).
* You know more or less where to find the Ravnos in any city.
* You know what caused the week of nightmares, and what resulted from it.
* All other information in the Clanbook (2nd Edition and Revised), with the key understanding that some of
it is composed of half-truths, or flat-out wrong -- you simply don't know which parts.

73
Sewer Lore:
From the Packet

Lore 1:
You are aware of what the city has in terms of subterranean tunnels be it mines, sewers, drainage etc.
You could probably find the opening to these tunnels if given enough time and you have a vague idea
what might be inside them. But have never actually been inside them.

Lore 2:
You know a good portion of the subterranean world, and you’ve actually wandered around in portions of
it. You have a few “favorite” openings that you know very well and can even find your way from one point
under the city to another without too much difficulty.

Lore 3:
You have been just about everywhere in the undercity. You know your way around as if it were your
second home. You’ve seen a few dozen entrances and exits and know where they lead and you have a
suspicion that there may be more to the underground then you think. You can travel through the city
without ever touching the streets.

Lore 4:
This is no longer a hobby, you’ve mapped out this place front to back, top to bottom, as much as you can
find. You can list off street names where drainage grates can take you to desired locations, or list off the
serial codes on the sewer lids and where they lead. You also are very aware that you’re just scratching
the surface of something. You still have odd feelings there are more tunnels you just can’t figure out
where.

Lore 5:
You know the tunnels better than some Nosferatu. If there is an opening in the ground… you know where
it leads. You even have a system to remember passageways. Like streets you can make a map and give
directions anywhere in the tunnels. You know what is down there when and how to move through it. This
is your second home.
Additionally Warren Lore is the equivalent of its current level PLUS one in Sewer lore, to reflect the fact
that Nosferatu are truly the masters of the subterranean.

Tzimisce Lore:
From the Packet

Lore 1:
* You know that the primary Tzimisce Disciplines are Animalism, Auspex, and Vicissitude.
* You know that all Tzimisce are apparently tied to their point of origin and that no Tzimisce may rest
peacefully without two handfuls of his or her native soil.
* You know that the Tzimisce Antediluvian is seldom given a name or gender and that the Tzimisce claim
that it has been destroyed.
* You know that some Tzimisce, known as the Koldun, practice Sorcery.
* You know that the Clan was originally settled in the Carpathians and Transylvania where it tended to
organize itself in a feudalistic fashion. You know that many "movie" vampires share characteristics in
common with the Tzimisce.
* You know that the Tzimisce are the spiritual leaders of the Sabbat and that they are credited with the
creation of the Auctoritas Ritae, especially the Vaulderie.
* You know that the Tzimisce are considered the least humane of vampires and that they are the ones
most commonly on Paths of Enlightenment, willing to teach them to others. You know that the Path most
often associated with the Clan is the Path of Metamorphosis, a transhumanist philosophy in which
initiates strive toward some state known as Azhi Dahaka.
* You are familiar with the terms voivode (the Tzimisce lord of a region), szlachta (Vicissitude- modified
ghouls serving a Tzimisce master), manse (a Tzimisce's primary haven) and tirsa (land or territory).
* You are aware that the Tzimisce are said to have bred their ghouled serfs into bloodlines known as
Revenants, mortals who show the aspects of being a ghoul at birth and without ingesting vampire blood.

Lore 2:
* You know that the Tzimisce progenitor was said to have left the company of the other Antediluvians
before the flood, because it sought to free itself from the ravages of the Beast through exploration and
experimentation. It is said to have eventually settled in the Carpathians, the lands to which the Tzimisce
have the strongest ties.
* You have heard of Kupala's Night, the evening upon which Lugoj Bloodbreaker gathered his allies and
clanmates together and broke the blood bond upon them using some mystical ceremonies, from which
eventually evolved the Auctoritas Ritae and Vaulderie. You also know that it was later Lugoj who is said to
have diablerized the Eldest in its manse.
* You are familiar with the War of Omens and know that it was a conflict between Clan Tzimisce and the
newly created Clan Tremere.
* You know that most Tzimisce refuse to diablerize those of their own Clan.
* You know that not all Tzimisce ally with the Sabbat and that many of the Eastern European elders
(known to some as the Old Clan Tzimisce) claim independence from the affairs of Sect. You also know
that some of these elders seem to have an irrational paranoia regarding the Vicissitude Discipline.
* You are aware of the order known as the Children of Dracon which operates within the Sabbat and
know that they both seek to "atone" for some sort of sin committed by the Clan and tend to eschew the
use of Koldunic Sorcery.
* You know that the Path of Metamorphosis is unique among Paths, as the concept of Azhi Dahaka is
never clearly defined and that each initiate must discover it for themselves.

77
* You know that the term voivode formerly referred to the lord of a given domain but, in the modern nights,
it is most commonly used to refer to the voivode for the entire clan, who essentially acts as its head. You
know that the current voivode is Minerva Schwalke-Wojtkiewicz.
* You know of Tzimisce who are generally considered leaders and advisors. You know that the
requirement for being one is mastering the zulo (Horrid Form) form.
* You have heard of hellhounds, bogatyri (monstrous servitors the Tzimisce held during the Middle Ages),
and the vozhd (gigantic war ghouls built out of numerous animals and people grafted together with
Vicissitude).
* You are familiar with the basic Revenant families that serve Clan Tzimisce. You know of: the Bratovich,
an inbred and violent family of Polish animal trainers and fighters; the Grimaldi, a family with heavy mortal
connections adept at helping to keep vampire activity secret; the Obertus, a Byzantine family of secretive
and reclusive scholars, often associated with the Children of Dracon; and the Zantosa, a notoriously
debauched bloodline which has heavy ties to assorted vice trades.
* You have at least heard, in passing, of legendary Tzimisce such as: Lambach Ruthven, an elder who
continuously seems to be present during crucial moments regarding the Antediluvian's movements;
Yorak, one of Tzimisce's original childer and voivode of the Clan for most of its history; and Velya the
Vivisectionist, who along with Lugoj helped to create the Vaulderie and now serves as Cardinal to the
"Lands Beyond the Forest."

Lore 3:
(STs are advised to limit clan lore to 3)
* You have heard that the Antediluvian fell into slumber for several centuries after being attacked by
warring Salubri. Oddly, some accounts of this event have Tzimisce being killed in the fray, although this
clearly cannot be true because Lugoj diablerized him centuries later.
* You know what Kupala is, a spirit native to the region in which Tzimisce settled that the eldest
supposedly made a pact with. You know that it is because of this spirit (who is itself bound to the land)
that the Tzimisce are likewise bound to their native soil. You also know that it is supposedly the origin of
Koldunic Sorcery.
* You have heard of the legend of Kupala's fire flower, which was the key ingredient that Lugoj needed to
break the blood bond.
* You know that the War of Omens originally was said to have started when the Tremere, using Tzimisce
vitae, gave themselves the Embrace and that the local Gangrel and Nosferatu of the region allied
themselves temporarily with the Tzimisce.
* You know that the Old Clan Tzimisce have created an organization known as the Oradea League,
consisting of twelve of their eldest. You know it is unwise to meddle in their affairs.
* You know a bit about the structure of the Children of Dracon. You know that it operates from the Hagia
Sophia and that it resembles a monastic order in practice. You know that the order is split into two
branches, the scholarly branch (Akoimetai) and the knightly branch.
* You have heard of such movements as: the Neofeudalists, Tzimisce who seek to recreate their lord/serf
hierarchies in a modern setting; the Exsanguinists, Tzimisce who believe that drinking blood impedes
enlightenment and engage in ritualistic vampire anorexia as a result; and the Reclaimists, those who
believe diablerie to be essential to understanding the vampire condition and spend most of their time in
zulo form waiting to commit it.
* You have heard legends of the Cathedral of Flesh, a fantastical structure created by Yorak out of
thousands of human victims. You know that it disappeared from its place in Transylvania centuries ago
and many rumors abound as to what became of it.
* You know that each of the Revenant families have a specific disposition for certain vampire Disciplines
and that each House also bears certain inherited weaknesses. You know that the Bratovich employ the

78
disciplines Animalism, Potence, and Vicissitude, and they have inherently bad tempers and are prone to
flying into rages. You know that the Grimaldi employ the disciplines Celerity, Dominate, and Fortitude, and
each one of them serves a Sabbat member as a thrall to a blood bond. You know that the Obertus
employ the disciplines Auspex, Obfuscate, and Vicissitude, and have a tendency to become engrossed in
their work to the point of derangement. You know that the Zantosa employ the disciplines Auspex,
Presence, and Vicissitude, and find it very easy to succumb to mortal temptation.
* You have heard of the Oprichniki, a rare Russian Revenant bloodline that maintains its loyalty only to
those Tzimisce unaffiliated with the Sabbat, particularly the Oradea League.
* You are familiar with the Romanian Legacy Foundation, a group masquerading as a mortal
genealogy studies organization which seeks to track down mortals with Revenant blood that the family
has "lost."
* You are aware that Schwalke-Wojtkiewic is generally considered another link in an ongoing chain of
progressively weaker voivodes and that she actually wields little power in the clan.
* You have at least heard, in passing, of famous Tzimisce, such as: Byelobog, a Methuselah who
masqueraded as the Slavic "White God"; Demdemeh, an African Methuselah who supposedly sired a
bizarre variant bloodline; Gunnhild, a witch queen who allegedly helped to facilitate the Sabbat's exodus
to Scandinavia post-Revolt; Katarirya, a Methuselah that settled in Sri Lanka and is supposedly
responsible for spawning many of the native "demons" of the region; and Righteous Endeavor, a former
witch-hunter who now serves as a Priscus.
* You are aware that the Tzimisce have been credited with embracing such historical figures as Vlad
Tepes, known more popularly as Dracula.

Lore 4:
* You have heard legends that state that the Tzimisce Antediluvian placed some of its flesh into each of
its childer and that, through this, the creature may experience the sensations of each member of the clan.
You have also heard very unsettling rumors that indicate that, due to this, the Antediluvian would be able
to consume or control any of its descendants as well. Legends say it did this to the first of its childer,
Gallod.
* You know that the War of Omens actually was started by a conflict between the Ventrue Nova Arpad
and the Tzimisce Methuselah Ionache over the territory of Hungary and that it was Jürgen of Magdeburg,
another Ventrue, who briefly led one of the major onslaughts against the clan.
* You are aware that many Tzimisce were used during the War of Omens in Tremere experiments to
create the bloodline of the gargoyles.
* You have heard legends that Kupala once opposed the shape shifting Lupines of the region and that
they sought to imprison it by burying it under the earth. They required so much earth to be heap on top of
it though that they formed the Carpathian Mountains in the process.
* You know that the connection to Kupala and to sorcery is often mirrored in a Tzimisce's connection to
the soil and that some Tzimisce are said to be quieted in their rest only by the soil of Kupala's lands, even
if they weren't born there. It is said that these childer, if not killed for perceived weakness, make excellent
koldun.
* You've heard that Ruthven has made wild claims stating that Lugoj was somehow overtaken by the
Eldest during the diablerie. Ruthven is regarded as losing his sanity. Few, if any, will listen to his claims.
Fewer still believe him.
* You know that the Oprichniki favor the disciplines of Auspex, Obfuscate, and Vicissitude, and that each
one of them is said to be under a curse where they are pursued by the ghosts of the dead.
* You have heard of the Revenant bloodlines which no longer serve the Tzimisce or who went extinct.
These include: the Krevcheski, who defected to the Tremere and became the Duschevsky; the Khavi,
who served the elder Bylebog, but were eventually slain by invading Teutonic Knights; the Vlaszy, who

79
sided with the nascent Camarilla during the revolt and were hunted down and killed; and the Basarab,
who were systematically slaughtered due to the interventions of Vlad Tepes (Dracula) who came from
their lineage.

Lore 5:
(STs are advised to notify the Tzimisce Coord before allowing a character to have this level of Lore, so
the Tzimisce Coord can talk them out of it!)
* You've heard that some of the Old Clan believes Vicissitude to be a disease, inflicted by terrible
creatures known as Soul Eaters. You may wonder if this has anything to do about the legends of
Tzimisce's flesh being in each of his childer.
* You know that the Children of Dracon regard Kupala as a curse upon the Clan and this is why they
forfeit any koldunic knowledge. You hear that they also believe that Tzimisce was killed during the Salubri
wars but it was the Dracon who managed to use his embryonic remains to breed another incarnation.
This lends some credence, if true, to the theories that the Eldest survived Lugoj's diablerie.
* You've heard that Lambach Ruthven indicates that Tzimisce somehow transferred its consciousness
either to Lugoj or into the Cathedral of Flesh or in some cases to both. You know that several members of
the Clan, taking stock in Ruthven's words, suspect that the Antediluvian isn't dead.
* You've heard stories that further imply that Kupala's fire flower was in fact an extension of the
Antediluvian himself and that the Vaulderie only serves to help place even more under Tzimisce's sway.

Warrens Lore:
From the Packet

Lore 1:
You know that the Warrens exist, and you have heard a few ways to get to them, but have never put them
to practice. You can get into and out of the Warrens by one route. Should you wander in you know how to
get a hold of the Warren Master and get guidance to safe locations.

Lore 2:
You know a few ways into the Warrens and you are aware of what traps are present. You even know
what the purpose for these Warrens are. You can find the larger, more obvious structures, but anything
that is even slightly hidden is beyond your scope.

Lore 3:
You are well aware of the layout of the Warren now, and you are a part of its functionality. Whereas
before you were just getting by in its protection, now it works for you as much as you work for it. You
know most of the structures here, and you have a half dozen ways to get in and out. This is the level any
subterranean Nosferatu must have if she wishes to work sufficiently within the Warrens. Must be in play
for at least 6 months

Lore 4:
You know your own Warren perfectly. In your home you have detailed knowledge of it’s every trap and
crevice. You could lead anyone to their doom or sanctuary at your whim. You most likely are the Warren
Master, or at least help her significantly. Additionally you know the warrens of your neighboring cities fairly
well. You know the Warren Masters and how to contact them, and even how to get in and out of the
Warrens there. Must be in play for at least 12 months.

Lore 5:
Your knowledge of Warrens is nearly unmatched. Save for the eldest among you, you are the authority on
Warrens. You have the skill and knowledge of every warren in your region, and can manage fairly well in
any warren in the country. While you do not know any warren like your home, you can navigate through
almost any of them and live long enough to contact clansmen. You just know the tricks of the trade. You
know what traps usually look like what and what a giant alligator smells like, or which switch is usually the
one that sends you plunging to your death. Must be in play for at least twenty-four months.
