ESTABLISHMENT OF BIOFLOC CULTURE SYSTEM -SMALL,MEDIUM AND LARGE UNDER

TECHNOLOGY INFUSION AND ADAPTION OF THE CS SCHEME PMMSY

Intensive and sustainable aquaculture system is need of the hour in Odisha to cater the rapidly
increasing demand for fish in the state. Biofloc fish farming is an eco-friendly and a low cost
alternative for intensive fish production which not only increases the production but also enhances
the net profit. Considering the influencing biofloc technology, it is envisaged to establish biofloc
culture system in the state of Odisha under the CS Scheme PMMSY.

OBJECTIVE:

• To use the technology for intensive fish production and to reduce environmental impact
• To improve land and water use efficiency
• To enhance growth performance and survival rate of the produced fish
• To reduce water pollution and spread of pathogens
• To reduce utilisation of protein rich feed and cost of standard feed
• To increase the net profit of the fish farmers

GUIDELINES FOR ASSISTANCE

• The assistance will be restricted to only one unit of large/medium/small Biofloc


system
• The beneficiary will submit a Detail Project Report and will provide documentary
evidence of availability of requisite land. In case of lease land, the minimum lease
period must be 10 years from the date of submission of DPR/SCP.
• The filled in application forms must be submitted to the Director of Fisheries, Odisha
through e mail(pmmsyapplications.inland@gmail.com) / speed post/ Regd
post/Courior services.
• The applications received by the Director of Fisheries shall be sent to the concerned
DFOs for necessary verification and after scrutiny and verification the concerned DFO
shall send the feasibility and field verification report to the Director of Fisheries
• Thereafter, the applications received by the Directorate of Fisheries shall be
scrutinised by the Technical Committee.
• The list of eligible beneficiaries, approved project report, application and other
documents shall be forwarded by the Directorate of Fisheries to the concerned DFOs
for issuance of Go-ahead letter to the beneficiaries.
• Directorate of Fisheries shall organise the training on Biofloc technology for the
beneficiaries nominated by the DFOs.
• The beneficiary shall submit the GST bills/receipts under his/her signature to the
AFO who will certify the vouchers and submit it to the DFO for release of subsidy.
• The admissible subsidy amountshall be released to the beneficiary Aadhar linked
Bank account in two phase i,e. after completion of the Biofloc unit and after stocking
of seeds and procurement of inputs through DBT/RTGS/NEFT.
• The subsidy assistance @ 40% of the unit cost shall be provided to the general
category of beneficiaries and 60% of the unit cost to the Women/SC/ST beneficiaries.
