PRACTICE TEACHING EXPERIENCE

During the first week of my practice teaching experience, I was assigned

to handle mathematics classes for grade 9 and 10 students. It was an
exciting opportunity for me to apply my knowledge and teaching skills in
a real classroom setting. However, it required me to manage my time
effectively, as I had additional responsibilities at home.

The week started with a busy schedule. Each day, I woke up at 4 am to

help my younger sister prepare for her grade 2 class. I assisted her with
getting ready, packing her school bag, and ensuring she had breakfast. It
was important to me to support her education while also fulfilling my
own teaching obligations.

After seeing my sister off to school, I dedicated time to prepare myself for
my day ahead. I reviewed the lesson plans, gathered necessary teaching
materials, and familiarized myself with the topics I would be covering in
my grade 9 and 10 mathematics classes. I wanted to ensure that I was
well-prepared to deliver engaging and informative lessons.

Once I arrived at school, I greeted my students and began the day's

activities. I employed various teaching strategies, including interactive
discussions, group work, and problem-solving exercises, to make the
learning experience enjoyable and effective. I encouraged active
participation from my students, answering their questions and providing
guidance whenever needed.

In the grade 9 mathematics class, we focused on quadratic function and

equations. I introduced new concepts, explained their applications, and
guided the students through practice exercises. I created a supportive
environment that allowed students to ask questions, share their ideas,
and collaborate with their peers.

For the grade 10 mathematics class, we delved into Fibonacci sequence

and arithmetic sequence. I used visual aids, and real-life examples to
help students understand the principles and formulas involved. We
worked through challenging problems and practiced applying the
concepts to different scenarios.

Throughout the week, I assessed the students' understanding through

quizzes, assignments, and class discussions. I provided constructive
feedback to help them improve and encouraged them to ask for
assistance whenever necessary. I also used technology to enhance the
learning experience.
Despite the demanding schedule, I remained committed to my teaching
responsibilities. I planned my lessons effectively, utilized classroom time
efficiently, and dedicated extra hours for grading assignments and
preparing for the following day's classes. I also made myself available to
students during breaks and after school to address any concerns or
provide additional support.

By the end of the second week, I felt a sense of accomplishment and

satisfaction. Witnessing the progress my students made in their
understanding of mathematics was truly rewarding. Moreover, balancing
my family obligations with my teaching duties taught me valuable time
management and multitasking skills that will benefit me in my future
career as an educator.
In addition to my responsibilities as a practice teacher for grade 9 and 10
mathematics, I was also appointed to manage the attendance of
latecomers during the flag ceremony in the elementary, junior high
school and senior high school. This additional duty required me to arrive
at school even earlier to ensure that the attendance records were
accurately maintained.

As students arrived late, I greeted them and politely asked for their
names and grade level. I maintained a respectful and non-judgmental
approach, understanding that there could be valid reasons for their
tardiness. I recorded their information in a notebook, making sure to
note the date, time, and class details.

Managing the latecomers during the flag ceremony required me to be

organized and efficient with my time. To ensure a smooth process, I
created a system for recording the names quickly and accurately, so as
not to disrupt the flow of the ceremony. I also collaborated with other
teachers and school staff to ensure that all latecomers were accounted
for and that the attendance records were properly updated.

Though this additional responsibility added to my workload, I recognized

the importance of instilling discipline and punctuality in students. By
taking on this role, I contributed to maintaining a sense of order and
responsibility within the school community.
Mga munting tinig

Mga Munting Tinig is a poignant Filipino film starring Alessandra de

Rossi, which delves into the transformative power of hope and
determination. The film portrays the harsh realities faced by
marginalized communities, particularly students and teachers, in an
impoverished and neglected village. The lack of resources, oppressive
system, and limited opportunities hindered their growth and
development, highlighting the stark contrast between urban and rural
areas.

De Rossi's performance as Melinda, a timid and passionate teacher, was

remarkable, capturing the character's struggles, frustrations, and
eventual triumphs with heartfelt and genuine acting. The film's
underlying theme of the power of education resonated with me,
emphasizing the importance of providing quality education to all,
regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds. The transformative effect
of education on the lives of the characters was evident, giving them a
voice and the courage to stand up against injustice.

In conclusion, "Mga Munting Tinig" is a powerful and thought-provoking

film that highlights the struggles faced by marginalized communities and
the transformative power of education. It serves as a reminder of the
importance of amplifying the voices of the unheard and ensuring every
child has access to quality education. The film left me inspired and
motivated to contribute towards creating a more equitable society where
everyone has the opportunity to flourish and be heard.
