1- Derive the electrical and mechanical equations of motion of the electromechanical systems shown
below. Hence find an expression of the displacement or angular deflection at which the moving part
will come to rest (balance condition). All systems are linear.

6- A 220/440 V, 50 Hz, 5 KVA, single phase transformer operates on 220V, 40Hz


supply with secondary winding open circuited. Then

turns ratio of the transformer is 100:200 (a = 0.50). If the secondary current of the transformer is is (t)
= 7.07 sin (377t - 36.87°) A, what is the primary current of this transformer? What are its voltage
regulation and efficiency? The impedances of this transformer referred to the primary side are:
Req =0.2 Ω Xeq = 0.750 Ω
Rc = 300 Ω Xm= 80 Ω

8- (i) Derive an expression for maximum efficiency of a transformer.


(ii) A 500KVA transformer has 95% efficiency at full load and also at 60% of full load both at UPF.
a) Separate out the transformer losses.
b) Determine the transformer efficiency at 75% full load, UPF.
11- A 50 kVA, 400/2000 V, single phase transformer has the following parameters:
R1 = 0.02 Ω R2 = 0.5 Ω
X1 = 0.06 Ω X2 = 1.5 Ω Gc = 2 mho Bm = 6 mho
The transformer supplies a load of 40 kVA at 2000 V and 0.8 PF lagging. Draw the approximate
equivalent circuit and answer the following:
(a) Calculate the primary voltage and current.
(b) Draw the phasor diagram of the circuit.
