21 Divisions of Charity

21. Charity in passion is given –

(i ) with the expectation of reciprocation for NFP & self recognition

(ii ) with a desire for fruitive results, ulterior motive

(iii ) in a grudging mood, unwillingly

(iv ) for elevation to the heavenly kingdom

(v ) with great trouble and paschyataap

(vi ) under superior’s request/pressure

e.g. Karna, Duryodhana, Jarsandha, Ravana, Satrajit

Divisions of one’s income for the purpose of charity

50% - for propagating Krishna Consciousness


- Purchasing Deity paraphernalia e.g. Dresses, Deity pots, jewelleries etc
- Going for Yatras to Puri, Vrindavan, Mayapur etc
- Spending for one’s spiritual needs e.g. Dhoti Kurta, Books, Prasadam,
- Giving Nitya Seva for the service of Their Lordships
- Contributing in College preaching activities & Book Distribution Marathon
- Facilitating upcoming/budding needy person’s KC by donating him clothes, books, prasad
- Giving donation on very special occasions like Ekadashi, Janmasthami, Bhadra, Kartik etc.

25%- for personal unforeseen emergencies

Letter to Rupanuga -- Mayapur 21 February, 1976: Krishna wants to see that the life
is sacrificed, but also accumulation, money, should be given to Krishna. Life to Krishna and
money to wife is not a good decision.
